brothers that's the black mans problem. he only thinks about himself. he doesn't think about the society at large. hence why we have a 3rd world country. people with your mindset create third world countries . yet you want to jaapa to canada where the mindset will be an outrage that the cost to oil a car is 3 times the minimum wage

Since you are so sure no GX460 uses 2 gallons of oil kindly tell us with certainty how many litres you sabi say e dey use.

And for you to say that full synthetic is at most 30k shows you don't even know what you are talking about.. There is a Mobil 1 5W20 that goes for upward of 50k presently..

As to your issue about labor cost, you think a place like that should charge 5k for Labor, especially if its a late model GX?

And no.. factory recommended full synthetic oil is guaranteed not for 6 months as you said, but 7500-10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes 1st.... Of course in your hurry to quote me, you didn't see where I earlier questioned the 4-month oil change duration given by the company.

Try dey understand talk and verify your facts before you begin talk.. The fact that you are even questioning that a GX460 uses 2 gallons of oil shows you have no business in this discussion.
I repeat, no gx460 uses 10quarts of oil which is 2 gallons of synthetic oil. It uses 7quarts which is 1 and half. Next service, only 1 gallon will be needed.

Don't confuse yourself.. Oil in Nigeria is sold in 4-Litre gallons, not quarts..

Secondly, full oil service of any vehicle including the GX460 includes a full drain, change of filter and refill .. I don't know where you get the notion that an engine can require different amounts of oil for a full oil change.

To fully service a GX460, one needs 2 4-litre gallons of oil.. Its OK if you must deceive yourself or be stubbornly ignorant.. But please don't deceive others.

I know you use fake synthetic. The original ones come from U.S and come in 5quarts. Those that come from Europe such as mannol and liquimoly come in 5L.

grin

Assuming you are right on only fake synthetic being sold in 4-Litre cans, which you are not, it doesn't take way the fact that the GX460 needs 8 litres of oil or its equivalent in quarts for a full service.

May I add that the OCI is not determined by the oil seller but by your vehicle manufacturer.

Cars that do one year OCI usually have larger oil pans to accommodate larger oil volumes that will Carter to the long OCI.

Kia owners know the shege they faced when they ran synthetic in their engines for one year against the recommended OCI.

you get the point bro. It’s very expensive. That’s the point. 90 thousand naira will feed a family for 3 weeks depending on frugality. Some can stretch that to feed for 2 months. That’s the point. 😃
At this point,I lost you.

Was it that 90k is too expensive for an oil change or are you saying the owner of the gx460 is going to hell for spending 90k on an oil change when there are hungry people outside or that the gx460 owner was cheated?

I would like to understand where you are going with this.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Here are a few things you should consider.
1. Replacement cost of that engine.
A bad filter or fake oil installed by kamoru under the mango tree will set that man back by a few million. Not wise in this economy

That shop will replace that engine if they mess up so they charge a premium for that (unwritten insurance)

2. That edifice with ac and possibly chilled water cost a few penny to put up.
Someone has to pay for it. Customers.
Rent in that location is not 500k per annum.

3. ROI. Money has to be made. Profit has to be made. It's business.

4. Convenience. It is definitely convenient for that man. He is not complaining.

5. Cost of original oil, filter and labour.
Oil is not cheap. A good 5L synthetic oil (which is what I assume they used) will set you back at least about 36k to 40k. Two of that is already 72k to 80k. Add labour and filter to it and you see why 90k is just about okay.

So today I went to that autofast place on lekki epe expressway for oil change and while I was at the reception some guy was paying for his oil change and filter and labor and the bill was 90 thousand naira. So I struck up a conversation with the guy and said wow that is a lot for oil change and he said he gets the best oils so that he would only have to change it every 4 months. He had one of those Lexus jeeps GX 460 Joints. What’s my point here ? While some are earning 30k per month someone is oiling his engine for 90000 naira

Normal Lagos life

There's a place you can buy a bottle of coca cola drink for N1000.

So is left for you to choose

Last week, I serviced a 2006 Range Rover sport for 100k. In my workshop, we use the recommended oil. I went around looking for engine oil sold locally and I found only Total selling the old Q9000 5w40 for 37k a gallon. Filters that cannot clean up the dirt in the engine should never be used on high performance engines. I didn't use the Total oil but just gave an example of the oil crisis in the country. Before Oando folded up, they were selling generator oil. AP is selling the same. Mobil has good varieties to choose from. People earning 30k choose to earn it and so the scenario has no comparison

Oando has folded? What the hell is going on? When did that happen?
Lets talk business. If these oils are in high demand, i can send some for sell

I don't sell oil but I use it and recommend it to people. If it is good for range Rover, let me know. Oando has been sold to Nnpc and there are not going to be oils other than the same NNPC is selling.
