Emefiele have dined with and have mastered how to deal with Nigeria politicians.

At least he has shifted ground a bit.

There will no longer be a valid reason to put all the blame on CBN with this 10 days extension.

Cashless policy is the way forward

cashless policy can't work now...

The problem is not in extention but availability of new notes.

God bless you.

You think the poor masses still have the old note? Check those rushing to the bank to deposit their money and then you can quote me

I know but the pos merchants are still giving out old notes to their customers.

Better. CBN really need to ensure that the New Naira Notes are made available across the length and breadth of the economy.

With the saboteur banks, how will that be possible?

Emefiele will need to sit with the Bank CEOs and address the saboteurs of this new Naira notes circulation implementation.

The saboteurs will be sitting across from him in the room. No time for such meetings. Time to slap them with heavy 100 million naira fines per infraction and these saboteurs will behave.

I told a nairaland user Heathrow44 on January 27 that if the CBN governor or the President extend the January 31 deadline for currency swap then they are bunch of cowards and failure. Only fools reason like mad men.

Tinubu is a very intelligent and courageous man. We stand by him and we are proud of him

Shame and cold no catch you together as you type this rubbish?

Then I ll sensibly do it this way, start the plan early, enough and keep an eye on those that drop huge cash to explain in details where they saw the cash

You can't start it Early
it also defeats the purpose..
you end up tipping off these money bags

if banks refuse to increase circulation of new notes they will still extend it again,,, cashless policy kill u there!!! when they place withdrawal limit at 500k per week did Nigerians complain? circulate the money at least let every account owner be entitled to the said 500k a week before they can go own fighting themselves,, let them not frustrate an average Nigerian with their useless political banter

Are you even sure that the withdrawal limits are even in force and there is not a policy somersault with account limit tracing rather than BVN tracking? Trust Nigerians to take advantage of that loophole if it exists.

The bankers are also part of the saboteurs

Thank you for hitting the nail on the head by naming and shaming the bankers as saboteurs.

Buhari's has no ball. Common sense suppose tell him he's to give 6 months notice ahead for the new notes to be in full circulation. If he did the policy in order to curb politicians, then it has failed with the extension.
I just don't like a man that pretends to be good but is very bad!
At the end, people ll hate APC more cos the common man has nothing more to go and change in the bank.
The looters has 10 more days to loot/exchange old notes. So...I disagree with the president on this extension. If I m in his shoes, I would v implemented this policy since early last year and give 6 months maximum notice with eagles eyes to watch who's exchanging huge cash. I go catch lots of people and ask where they saw huge cash to exchange.

Guy, allow them to bring in all the cash first naa. Let us just get the monies in the bank first. Then the questioning can come in latter. I'm sure EFCC and other security departments are warming up. The number of cases that will come up after this will amaze you.

If they have loaded thier house with new notes according to you, they won't be all over the place complaining. Don't you think so?
That's the thing, you never can tell why tinubu came all out against this.

It could be a game to instigate the north, remember tinubu man ganduje wrote letter to buhari hyping the effect of the policy on the street.

You know emefile fears been the one to push northern masses to the brim of a revolt.

The fact is since emefile boxed himself from not stopping old notes as Leger tender, they would keep instigating or even stage fracas while he keeps extending.

I'm actually surprised that they announced the extension this early, otherwise I'm not surprised. Buhari did what we knew he had to do.

The extension was inevitable buh i think it came tew early and predictable, CBN should have waited till Feb 1 to announced an extension, by then no stones would have been left untouched.

Oga the banks are lying...most of this bank managers are on the payrolls of politicians hope you know...so theyll give the politicians these notes hen come and tell us citizens that the CBN didnt remi enogh notes to them
That isn't also totally out of it as well. But they are all in connivance. There is no where in the world the citizens wouldn't misbehave if there is no strict regulation & sanctions for bad doings. The CBN are the number one follow by the banks.

You won't incur any loss if you deposit your old notes into your bank account. If the bank has no new notes to give you, the bank can do a transfer to your account.
For example, let us say you have 1 million naira in old 1000, 500 and 200 notes and you deposit it at the bank, the bank can then transfer 1 million naira to your account. Simple.

So how will you spend the money transfered to your account. Will you be doing transfer for bike man, conductors, tomato sellers?

They are but the sanctions are clearly a slap on the wrist for banks as they are clearly not flinching. Time to up the sanctions if they are serious about dealing with these saboteurs!

Why do they extend the deadline? I thought they ran to ran to Senegal the other time for more damages to be done to the Psyche of Nigerians so that Nigerians can be under hardship weeks to election and be able to decide who to vote for.

Why do they extend the deadline? They shouldn't have done that after the threat . They should have allowed APC which they are destroying to be completely destroyed by MASS ACTION and protest.

The underlisted nairaland users:

jaxxy, edungene7 , stanluiz, tradepunter, Heathrow44, nemere2020 engaged me some days ago on fallout from Tinubu statement at Abeokuta. They said they will not extend the deadline.

I told them if they extend it they are very shameless and cowards. Tinubu is a great man and and a great thinker. Great men have purposes, others only have wishes.

ure shameless attempt to give tinubu credit for what was already part of the plan and still not favorable to tinubu or the criminal politicians and criminals makes no sense.

we all had an inkling they would extend it bt not what to what the vote buyers, enemies of democracy and criminals want.

many people asked for a slight extension not only tinubu.
