Sentiments aside Nigerians are angry and frustrated at the moment, pos is one of the largest employer of people in thecountry and at the moment they are jobless because no available cash to even work at the moment, infact people even pay 50 naira charges to buy with bank transfer at the moment that one is even worse than pos charges .
I will advise obi to keep shut on this naira notes issue for now so people will not see him as not being concerned like a typical Nigerian politician.

Is POS supposed to be a business in a sane society?... if you dont have sense, get some.. or keep mute and learn.

The Naira change is healthy, cash control would not just reduce inflation, but also put corruptly stashed monies into the economy.. do you have an idea what over N2tr means to be outside the currency exchange system?

POS is not meant to exist if Nigeria's sane, right.
But just as the writer said, Obi should be careful. But he's not careful. Rather, he's playing politics with it. He didn't speak in favour or against it early enough. That's not a sign of someone with the heart of the people.
If you say there N2tr outside the economy. It's the result of corruption of ages which should be tackled by firstly reducing cost of governance. I recalled Obi mentioned it too in his campaign. But him coming to justify that govt is doing the right thing with the redesign is like he himself is reasoning like Buhari. Him also waiting for almost 2 weeks before expressing the plights of the people is like acting like Atiku, the wicked and the pretender.
The only person that was proactive to speak and condemn was Tinubu. Whether its cos it affected him directly or not, he still spoke.
I m not here to market him but he's tht only one that despite his campaigns that are filled with funny skits cos of his gaffes, he actually made sense about revamping agriculture, employing the youths and boosting the military.
In all, I hope we all think critically to chose well. And Obi should be realistic and truthful with his campaigns. His lies are being noticed by the sane ones and I can't just do follow-follow.

There are jobs, freelancers, internships, blue collar jobs, most of us just feel too big for certain jobs that actually uplifts the economy.... same jobs we scramble for the moment we leave the Nigerian soil..

Incase you dont know you can even withdraw you last 400 from pos and your secret will be covered but can you withdraw such from Atm or banks uno nor they think deep black people.

You have to allow things play first to determine the direction it's going.. I may not be a fan of Buhari, but I support him 100% on this, I dont have cash myself but there is a training that Nigerians have to undergo (cashless system).. of what use is the CBN pushing trillions of new currencies into the economy yet preaching cashless system or even changing currency?..

Yes that over N2tr is what is being injected back into the economy to bring buoyant cashflow without escape through massive currency printing as always.

Yesterday I transferred N300, 500, 400, 200 to various people.. (zero charges).. with POS won't that be N200 charges?

The idea behind currency redesigning is highly welcomed and we hope this practice is done ones in a while to stop politicians from hoarding our currency and pushing the apex banks into printing more money which is usually very expensive.

Secondly, the benefits are numerous and will benefit the poor.

The crisis we're facing today is because, the rich folks are the ones using their influence to collect this new notes from banks and refusing to give accounts of who and who is getting the transfer.

The money printed would've been enough..But since the thieves keeping the old notes can't do away with their lose, they are using the banks to recover their monies back.

Just like the ISWAP who dashed the old notes to passerby going to town to make use of it..Mathis would've been the right time for these thieves in government to dash out the money.

Stop bringing Peter Obi into this...He said the truth and if you can't get the message go to bed and sleep.

POS has not saved a lot of Nigerians from banks and stress, because same debit and credit still happens on your account one way or the other, your charges only increased.

POS has not just only made Nigerians lazy to learn the cashless method of exchanging goods and services, but also made them crooks and dubious.. "a lady selling some wares said she does not take transfer, that I should used POS, her child is her attendant at her POS shop".. how do you explain that... "bank stress"

Sir, an intelligent candidate ll not wait for almost two weeks before understanding the economics of this new notes.
For example, am just a young lady who loves information. I read history of various countries, Nigeria and so many things that I can't recall now. I blv am suitable to run for at least HoR at my tender age. Someone like Obi who's running for presidency should v deep roots of the economy. I advocate for cashless policy but it must be gradual. I dislike the fact that CBN pumped out money. And the worst part is the masses aren't seeing the money.
Meaning, Obi should v analysed the situation like this if he's very sincere to at least 80%.
* Firstly, telling the FG that bringing new notes at such short notice is harmful to the masses and it's just a political gimmick. A good govt doesn't do policies that's anti-people cos they are trying to score political points.

* Secondly, Nigeria hasn't grown to full digital economy. Infact based on my stats, we are just like 30% into it. Our bank networks are poor when there's traffic. Phone networks too are very poor. In fact, the literacy level in using cashless policy is like 50%. Meaning we still v lots of people who depend on cash transfers. From the regular market women to the cow sellers, to farmers in general. All these people deal with agriculture, food for that matter and they are the ones that hasn't get used to this electronic banking.

* Govt didn't give enough time to implement the new cash policy.
You don't just start a policy without firstly studying the impact on people. This same FG banned importation of rice in 2015 when the country hasn't got any massive local rice production. Till today, that's the cause of rice in price of rice and dollars sef. I recall the first thing that happened after appointing Ahmed Ali as custom boss and he banned foreign imports was that dollar jumped from N200 - N400. Meaning govt no just dey reason well and the policy backfired greatly on people.
So is the case of this new note. It should v started since early 2022, not late 2022. People v less than 6momths to adjust to the new change. And as usual, the corruption system enables lots of people to hoard the cash. I v seen videos of banks who's money vaults were checked by CBN and they discovered they aren't loading their ATMs.

Lastly cos I v written a lot, Obi should just be Obi. Be more of the people and he ll be surprised that God ll fight his battles. If he's doing like Atiku, waiting to capitalize on whatever mistake Tinubu or APC do, he ll also commit same blunder cos he's not doing the right thing. Campaign is easy when you talk of what you do.

Which 2tr are you talking about?
The 2tr the cbn said was deposited in the bank is largely the money in circulation in the economy from poor people like you. What most of you don't realize is that the rich invest the bulk of their money in different investment vehicles ranging from shared to real estate. Do you think the rich actually keep their money at home? Even if they did, this new policy can never affect them. Who owns the banks and loan companies? They will corner the new notes too if they want. It is you that will be affected the most because there is no advanced country in the world where people were made to go through excruciating pain because of cashless policy. In India where they tried it, it failed. Today India is back largely to its cashbased transactions.

Nigeria has been going cashless for years. People use their ATM cards at shops and ATMs everyday. Jumia and paga are online companies that have grown big doing cashless transactions. So why are we rushing it. You can reduce money in circulation gradually by curbing the printing of new notes while you limit how much cash you push back into the economy but not this silly military method. The growth of Nigeria's GDP will definitely decline this year after it had been projected to grow by about 3.5%. Don't you Know what that means? More job losses and poverty!

Those of you hailing Buhari, thinking this will affect one particular politician will soon realize your mistake. The same way this who voted Buhari realized their mistake by 2016 when the idiot curbed dollar flow and shut the borders and inflation went through the roof. Good afternoon.

The policy is a good one.. eventually we would all learn to be cashless.. we would adjust.

The rich dont stack monies, their funds are in the system circulating... mehn, why would Elon musk be holding down $200bn in cash, doing that would leave a mark on the US physical cash rotation.. but here we have monies buried in tanks and underground vaults, we saw truck loads of decomposing monies etc.. how do we work around that?..

The method they're employing for the policy is wrong. Mention any advanced country where the country's legal tender was mopped up without adequate cash in the economy. Is there any society which is absolutely cashless? What about bank transfer glitches? And again, this military approach will only wreck the economy. Buhari has started dissociating himself from the stupid policy already. If it was as they told Nigerians it was going to be by having a #20,000 daily withdrawal, that would have been fine and would have pushed the economy gradually towards a semi cashless economy. But typically, they have to go and mess everything up.

And I never knew Elon Musk had $200bn in cash, when his entire worth is about $200bn. grin

How many tanks and underground vaults have you seen with money rotting away in? Nigerians will Never cease to amaze.

The current policy in Nigeria regarding cash usage and withdrawal has been criticized for being implemented in the wrong manner. No advanced country has completely eliminated cash from the economy without having adequate backup measures in place. The potential for bank transfer glitches and a military approach to the implementation of this policy may cause harm to the economy. Some wealthy individuals may not be greatly impacted by this policy as their money is invested in real estate and other investments. Elon Musk net worth[https://www.vipactors.com/elon-musk/[/https://www.vipactors.com/elon-musk/] of $200 billion is not solely in cash.

That's what most people fail to understand, the Monetary policy is the macroeconomic policy laid down by the central bank. It involves management of money supply and interest rate and
is the demand side economic policy used by the government of a country to achieve macroeconomic objectives like inflation, consumption, growth and liquidity.

It's not the kind of policy you enforce in a military haphazard way like they are doing it. You don't force it, you let it grow organically or else ordinary people will suffer as you can see.

Online payment is already growing fast in Nigeria Even without this policy. And if you think this will affect big time politicians, I laugh at you. They own the banks and can easily get the cash they need. Did you not see images of bank bullion vans going to Tinubu's house? grin

Can you name any politician caught with rotten money in his suck away?
As for Elon Musk, if it's not possible for him to hold $200bn in cash, so it is impossible for any Nigerian to hold 200bn naira in cash. wink

I like you.

Check what one of his "Obidient" once said about him in 2011

Almost all the posts about him here on NL during his tenure as a governor were very bad. Anambrarians were always cursing him. I wonder how he turned to Nigerian Messiah all of a sudden.
