The fact is, these notes were changed without hiccups because the transition process was such that the old notes and the new ones were used simultaneously for a period of 4-6months while gradually withdrawing the old ones.
But in this current situation; the govt is playing politics and wanting to rush things with a thin timeline of less than 40days.

That is the problem: playing politics.

The Naira redesign and swap policy should be treated with the utmost professionalism but instead a botched job was done as it apparent its prime motive was to checkmate politicians during the electioneering period. It is now a complete fiasco

Then you didn’t experience the 1984 change. That one was more brutal than this one because a certain Gen M. Buhari was a military maximum ruler and had soldiers to whip Nigerians in line if they dared complain.

During those days, the economy wasn't like this and people weren't this frustrated.

The timing for the current change is just wrong and is politically motivated in many people's opinions.

You can't hold 200m people's lives and livelihoods in ransom simply because of just a few politicians. The politicians that are being targeted are not feeling the heat, it's the masses that are being hurt.

That's why the masses are angry now - the timing, they weren't angry when the changes were done in the past.
