Marvel didn't wanna pay extra bucks for the cameo

Especially since they seem to be struggling financially

Babylon (2022) was so bad that even the brilliance of Brad Pitt and Jean Smart couldn't save it from imploding.
Nothing to write home about. Complete waste of 550 mb.
The nude scenes will make u throw up in ur mouth a little.

They failed woefully trying to pull a Showgirls (1995) stunt.

*Disney...not marvel
I heard their stock value keeps decreasing...
And I've been seeing reports of Twitter a few times about how they lost about $4 billion from Disney+ last year

They're still making money from a few movies like Avatar 2...but losing a ton from other movies and shows...

They have also had a ton of movies making less than expected, and the Star Wars franchise is in a mess with rumours that they want to resell it

Disney is too big for these things you are saying. You think Disney is too broke to fund cameos from other avengers in Black Panther's sequel. πŸ˜‚ That opening scene is just plot inconsistency.
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by MJBOLT: 8:22pm On Feb 06, 2023
scheduling conflict is probably another reason why the avengers didn't show up.

they can tbh...
But it's still unnecessary expenses...

And the movie ended up making $842m on a $250m budget...
It did break even but you could say it underperformed especially compared to the first movie

True, but I felt they could have reached out to them and the avengers could have sent their condolences or something even if they could not make it to the funeral. Overall the way they handled it shows that they didn't plan for it initially. Black Panther dieing is a pretty big deal, especially after the events of endgame.

842m on 250m budget is successful not an underperformance that's over X3. πŸ™„Also if they had china they would have hit a billion easily but that is not even the point. Even if the cameos skyrocketed the budget to 350m Disney would have still made it happen if they wanted. Marvel is one of their biggest milk factories, should we begin to calculate the numbers they've been doing for over 10+ years? Whatever they want they'll get chief, don't even go there. πŸ˜’

Correct me if I'm wrong...but doesn't it need to make almost triple the budget to break even?

It sure did but still when you compare to the first movie, it underperformed

How Disney's stocks faltering means dey struggling financially is beyond me. Person wey top domestic box office receipts last year. grin

Similar thing I also find with WBD where I see people say the company is dead broke. True, the company is hugely indebted, but they still have money to finance projects. It just means they'll choose carefully what they fund and not the trigger happy burning of money they did the past years.

They just lack cashflow and are in the negative. That's why Zaslav is implementing a ruthless cancellation and cost minimisation plan. Since the unnecessary and luxury stuff is mostly taken away they'd pivot rightly and start putting the business to profitability.

E just be like this stupid CBN Naira change and policy.... People have money in their accounts but are cash strapped cos they can't easily access that money from banks. So there's tons of queues and added hardship.

you're going round and round to the same thing

They are losing money...
You think losing $4bn last year from streaming alone is normal?
Or stocks losing almost 50% value?

Covering up loses with some hit movies doesn't change that...
They also lost big in some of their animated movies

Um no. πŸ™„ Total budget statement we were given is 250m. I think production, advertising and promotions are in there. The movie grossed over 450m domestically and it gets to keep a little over half of that. That's over 225m already, then add international gross which is around 370, it also gets to keep close to half of that so do the math. I've already mentioned that this one didn't have China. πŸ˜’

again I don't have the full calculations or numbers...
That's why I asked for your correction

Still the first movie made almost $1.4bn on a lower budget if I'm correct...

It's obvious that news or headline is clickbait. Who tf is typ news?? undecided undecided
That info is even old news since last year.

Losing $4bn in streaming is normal bro. What shΓ―t info you getting.
Most of the streaming platforms online are not profitable at the moment and Disney+ is said to hit profitability around 2025. Same as HBOMax.
Only Netflix is the profitable company and Netflix took almost a decade before they became a profitable entity in streaming. So source your info well.

Netflix lost almost half (47%) of it's value last year ($54bn). WBD has lost more than half it's stock price. Studios losing stock value now is a general issue since late last year after Wall Street investors realise the streaming boom and overperformance is over. The industry is cost correcting.

All these aforementioned companies lost a significant portion of their stocks, yet they're spending on content remains the same and ain't dropping. What does that tell you.
