Hi elders, hope we are all good..

1. Please can anyone share tips on inviting grandma for omugwo? due date is mid 2023 and we want to start processing visit visa now.

2. In applying for the visit visa, which case is stronger?
a. Grandma coming for omugwo (visa application will be done by her daughter who’s on tier 2 dependent visa)
Or
b. Grandma coming for her brother in laws burial (visa application will be done by the her sister, the widow who’s a British citizen)

Thank you 🙏🏽

Grandma coming for omugwo will be better. Get a picture of your grandma that grandma snap with the couple. If the couple have children before, include the picture they have with grandma. If not, the first statement should be included. Follow other neccessary steps and your visa will be approved.

Hi family, happy new month.

Please can I get your opinions and guidance on this matter..

A new family in my city here (Man , wife and 3 kids (2 girls and 1 boy) moved in October. Man is a a student and wife just started care job today.

Their son who is the eldest goes to a school close-by, but the girls have to wait till September for a space so they had to secure another school 6 miles away.

This new school sends a taxi to pick the girls everyday at the cost of the school. I am worried this may be public funds. I said they should confirm that this would not cause some trouble in future. I asked the woman again yesterday and she said her husband said it is not, but pleaded I help her verify.

Biko my people, are they safe with this free taxi

Is it a trap?

Is it public funds

@Lexusgs430
@Justwise

And anybody bikonu

Let the husband email the school to get an answer then save their response for future use, not all public fund policy is clear and many govt agencies are incapable of giving clear and straightward answer regarding this.

Please I need help in getting a temporary Accomodation in Glasgow. The Airbnb I’ve been seeing are expensive. Also, how do I go about getting a 1 room for myself and partner that doesn’t share bathroom but rather with a private bathroom.

Can you advise me on transportation to book from London(Heathrow airport) to Glasgow. Arrival time is around 4:30pm. I saw British Airways for 9:00pm but they won’t allow me carry the full luggage(23kg*2) except for business class which is costly.

Thank you

Most convenient option would be national express from terminal 2 but check their luggage allowance and also book a flexible ticket in case you are delayed.

Don’t book from London Victoria unless you like stress.

I would use both in the letter - grandma is coming for omugwo and will also use the opportunity to spend some time with her sister who has recently lost her hubby. You will need to provide the usual supporting documents i.e banks statements, pay slips, death certificate of her brother in law, mortgage statement for your home, copies of your passport data page and visa/ British passport. If you are renting, rental agreement and letter from your landlord might be beneficial.

What is grandma’s current status? Is she a pensioner? Are you funding the entire trip or is she supposed to contribute towards it? You will need to mention in the letter that you are funding the trip etc. I invited my mum for omugwo many moons ago and as far as I can recall, it was pretty much straightforward. I doubt the process would have changed that much.

Hi, please does the bank statement have to be 6 month if I'm sponsoring the trip for a parent?

They usually say 3 to 6 months is sufficient but I would err on the side of caution and use 6 months if available.

It’s a full time role that I secured while I was a student, but didn’t resume until I graduated in September due to restrictions on my hours to work as a student. I have only worked for 3 months and about rounding off my probation period before all these wahala. I don’t want to get sacked because I need them as reference. That’s my worry. I hope everything gets sorted soon. I’ll give an update after the disciplinary meeting.
Thanks everyone!

You would be alright....... If I was in your shoes, I would attend this meeting alone.......

Arm yourself with lots of evidence and print out from the home office's websites + caselaws(where applicable)

Bamboozle them with an excessive weight of evidence.... Don't they realise you would be more immigration stable, after your visa comes through......

Don't forget to take copies of your husband's passport + the original + home office's literature on dependents visa etc etc etc .......

I wish I was a lawyer ......... 😜😭😂

This was dealt with, splendidly so by Akorkor.
Just to chip in for records. The key phrase is ... Compulsory School Age ...
Unfortunately, OP didn't indicate ages: could be deduced though.
What's compulsory School Age. YouKay gov talk say na ... pikin wey dey start school after Dem don reach 5yrs:
Your child must start full-time education once they reach compulsory school age. This is on 31 December, 31 March or 31 August following their fifth birthday - whichever comes first. If your child’s fifth birthday is on one of those dates then they reach compulsory school age on that date.

For all things NRPF, the go to is NRPF Network .
Wolverhampton Council also has a good compilation.

PS: Possibly, these should also feature in the Parenting in the UK thread @Mamatukwas, how you take see am.

Dear ancestors of this great trybe,

What jobs can a 17 year old (female ) start to do now while waiting for 6th form to commence. Visa says ' restricted work'.

All forms of advice are welcome. Thanks. Peace!

The girl can work at these eateries, McDonalds, Nandos or work as a customer support on site for Argos, TKMaxx and their type. I see mostly young people at all these places.

And I need these items in Doncaster.

You may get rid of those items quicker if you post an ad in Facebook Marketplace, you can put the price for as low as £30-50, if you put FREE you may struggle to get rid of those items.
