Mopping excess cash helps to solve local inflation

Why don’t we just exercise patience and watch
Afterall the government is ending soon

Mopping excess cash will not solve local inflation.

The only benefit is that coupled with the withdrawal limits, CBN can monitor the amount of cash in circulation, thereby reducing crimes.

Reducing inflation involves far more than mopping up excess physical cash.

First of all, market forces such as demand and supply of goods can raise inflation.

For example, food inflation in Nigeria. We have shortage in food supply, yet demand for food is high. This is an example of demand-pull inflation. Because demand for food dwarfs supply of food, the cost of food will go high. You don't solve this problem by mopping up excess cash.

Another type of inflation we are battling in Nigeria is cost-pull inflation. Look at properties? Why are house rents going up? Will mopping up excess physical cash reduce it?

No. The cost of certain raw materials have gone up. This causes the costs of rents and properties to go up as well. This is cost-pull inflation.

In summary, inflation is far more complex a problem to be solved by mopping up excess physical cash in circulation.

In fact, inflation is a situation whereby there is a lot of money (not just physical cash) chasing fewer goods.

Chaos , and panic in the economy, or simply mop up of Excess liquidity

We are watching
Well what is liquidity?Liquidity means money supply not cash supply
Does cashless equal reduced liquidity? No
In future economies will be totally cashless
They will not become illiquid
This cannot reduce liquidity

Most people saying this policy would curb vote buying are actually being smart by half because vote buying becomes more cheaper as 45% of voters are open to sell their vote

In the long term this will be inflationary because it will discourage investment and production in agriculture reducing supply

No note, no network. Nigerians now buy naira with naira. All shops now collect extra charges if you're paying for their goods through their own pos

It is the bank o... Every transaction bank takes their small cut... End of month, they also charge for every SMS alert they send (we pay 4 naira for each SMS alert, but they take it at once at the middle of the month).

Banks are making hundreds of millions DAILY from charges.

Inflation is simply SHORTAGE!

IF there shortage in supply or in demand for long time, there will be inflation!

Nigeria has been suffering shortage in production in goods and services for many many years and so inflation keep growing.

The government here has other reasons for this current money madness because they have already mopped about 90%% of all cash in circulation before 31st January.

If FG wants to introduce cashless policy, they only need to introduce withdrawal limit like 20k and people will embrace transfer and corruption will reduce too.

Nigeria is a funny country and we can only pray because this problem is getting more funny. Many countries has failed and Nigeria can also fail shocked

Have seen this entire thing about currency replacement and trust me it is going to be brutal.

Common people will face maximum difficulty.

When Modi of India launched the exact same thing what we are witnessing in Nigeria in the name of demonitisation. Economy of India shrank and many people lost jobs.
For almost 3months people of India queued up infront of ATMs and banks for new currency.
But ends justify the means as majority of India transferred to cashless system .the country has got more revenue and eliminated majorly the source of black money or illegal money in their country language

What iam suprised is why buhari allowed in middle of election cycle unless he wants defeat of tinubu.
Modi of India done this currency change midway through his 5 year term and his popularity plunged from 70plus to 45 percent acceptance .
Many has predicted modi will loose elections ,but the 2 and half years softened the people anger , which along with his military strikes against Pakistan saved the day for him.

I think Buhari wants Atiku to win else no one would put his party in this much danger.

This post I posted on Jan 24

The timing was just too bad. This is something he should have done a year into his second term...but decided it should be on the eve of a general election. I find it as a policy designed to interfere with the elections through the CBN. Is it not treasonable and criminal for CBN to interfere with an election? I wish DSS had succeded in arresting him.

UBA!

It would work if you try 5 to 6 time (I mean it, no exaggeration).

Verification 5 attempts
Password may be 6 attempts
Agreeing to charges 6 attempts
Before transaction is successful...

Refreshing your dashboard to get you actual balance or transaction history; don't get me started.
