Hello gurus here, kindly help me out.

I am considering buying either Honda CR-V 2006 or Toyota Avensis Verso 2003-2006 Nigerian used. It will be used for mostly as family car do west to east travel like like 3 times a year.

Reliability, cost of maintenance and fuel consumption are my priorities.

Thanks

Prominent oil burns

True. I have an 08 and it burns oil. I read it's normal so I'm using it like that. The 2011 is the best among the 8th gen though,no oil burn issues.

Both options are even dicey.

I would have picked the Highlander, but the hybrid option(run ø),lack of qualified mechanics to handle it,is a big issue.

So,i would advice you go for the ford edge, its even more recent. But make sure its always handled by skilled hands.

OK, thanks

Which other SUV would you recommend at that price point

Both are reliable and capable.

Cost of maintenance I would give it to the CRV in terms of body parts cost but running cost the avensis is cheaper (fueling, fluids)esp if the CRV is a 4WD

Spaciousness, the CRV is king though I think the avensis verso has 3 row seats so would seat more people than the CRV while the CRV would haul more cargo.

most luxurious offcourse XLE trim, if money no reach or not available then a LE trim should suffice

That Camry 2011 is very very good. No need dissuading or diverting his attention from what he finds pleasant.

Hi guys. Please, Camry 2013 or Avalon 2011, which is a better ride?
Avalon is the better ride.

They are not even on the same trim level.

Toyota Camry is a midsize sedan, while the Avalon is a fullsize executive sedan, more closer to Lexus.

Though the lexus is old but still more luxurious than the CRV even with almost 6years difference.

For engine the Rx300 is reliable, rugged and less expensive to replace than the k24 in the CRV.

Both vehicles are available in FWD and AWD but the lexus will do better in offroad due to its size and ground clearance than the CRV.

The CRV is fuel efficient among your choice.

But as a construction worker both may not be too good cause of suspension when it comes to heavy load and too much offroad (rocks, gravel etc)

I did say look at a naija used explorer sport trac, ford everest, mazda B2000 or ford ranger you should get good ones for 2m naija used

This points to throttle position sensor. I have been broken during this engine repairs. Please search for it on YouTube and get the mechanic to replace or maybe it's wire/harness is cut

Abeg, I saw this 2006 Kia Rio that I wanted to buy for Uber. An older brother told me that the car is not good for rainy season.

Say if the vehicle enter water, something go bend for the engine, either crank shaft or something, have forgotten the name.

He also said the engine is expensive, around 600k. Abeg how much is the engine?. He totally talked down on the car. Price was 800k. Abeg I need a review from you guys and other people who have hands on experience. Thanks.

The car can wade through flood no issue there, used to enter knee level flood with mine and engine never spoil.

Car parts are expensive now, so if the engine is 600k I don't doubt it, used to be 3xx,Bleep when dollar was 320 and fuel was 14x naira per litre.

Overall they are good vehicles when in good condition the only reason I hate those bought brandnew in Nigeria is because of the temperature indicator, severe damage would have been done b4 the red light shows and by then too late sef engine would never remain same.

If you can get a tokunbo unit I mean the north American variant with normal temp guage you will enjoy the car. Also avoid hyundai accent it's a Rio but with EPS which will bankrupt you eventually grin
