SFS Capital is the company. They are just like investment one as well. A company that resulted from a management buy out as a result of regulatory policies.
They also have one of the oldest Reit - SFS REIT.

SFS Fund is managed by SFS Capital Nigeria Limited, a product of a Management Buy-out of Skye Financial Services Limited, which operated as the investment banking and investment management subsidiary of Skye Bank Plc. The change began after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) instructed all Nigerian banks to sell off their non-banking subsidiaries. Coincidentally, while the divestment process was in progress, SEC began implementing the rule preventing Asset Management Companies from engaging in other activities. All this combined led the existing management to carve out SFS Capital Nigeria as the Portfolio and Fund Manager for SFS Fund.

Since your wife wants any safe investment SFS is good and you can also check other funds I represent. They are all safe without any equity involvement.

This past month in Nigeria has been interesting, to say the least. The media has been agog with news of the backlash of the introduction of the new currencies as well as the phasing out of the old notes. One would say that this is a bold attempt by Apex bank to achieve the most ‘ambitious cashless economy’.

While this feat is not one to downplay, I believe its backlash on the broader economy – an economy that is heavily reliant on the informal sector (which is still largely cash-driven); its unanticipated effects on people’s livelihoods were not expected (at least this level of severity). But inasmuch as the change is needed, it is impossible to close one’s eyes to the endless queues at ATM centers and banking halls, and the dwindling daily income revenue.

In all honesty, the introduction of new currency notes is not alien to the global financial system and definitely not peculiar to Nigeria. Although the process may appear rather complex and seemingly fraught with “execution landmines”, as we are already witnessing in the country, however, its implementation surely has justifiable monetary and fiscal benefits in the long run – inclusive of inflation management, better oversight of money in the circulation, combating the prevalence of counterfeit currencies, illicit and terrorism financing. It could also be foundational in bridging the gap between official and informal exchange rates, as the countries opting for this process may be operating multiple exchange rate regimes.

Yet despite these obvious benefits, the implementation is threatened in the midst of chaos and the current desperation and suffering being currently experienced in the country. The question then remains, what is the way forward?

There are lessons to be drawn from countries that have gone through the process – from the good, the bad to the ugly. Crucial in all these, is the importance of thinking through the phases of a currency change – from preparation to implementation and putting in place mitigating mechanisms to address risks (and be agile and nimble enough to proactively respond to unintended consequences that may emerge).

*One cannot overemphasize the importance of coordinated planning and collaboration amongst key stakeholders comprising the Central Bank – as the lead, the Ministry of Finance and Financial Services Providers, particularly commercial banks is fundamental to a successful outcome.

*Strategic communication remains at the heart of the implementation process – the sensitization of the public on the reasons for the new currencies, how to identify security features, and the timing and rationale of the phased withdrawal of the old notes. All these are important to prevent rejection of old/new currencies, hoarding, artificial pricing of the currencies, and in extreme cases, run-on banks.

It will be great to hear your proposed solutions and how more collaborations could be made to make the transition seamless.

Please elaborate on this stanbic ibtc MMF as she already has the StanbicIBTC Asset Management account opening forms sent to her by her account officer. She is just waiting for my advice on which one to choose from the list or doing a Fixed Deposit. The key questions are if interest is accrued daily and if so when is interest paid and if to be paid, is there a re-investment option?. I still have the VGIF you once recommended as i understand how it works.

Stanbic IBTC MMF is like any other money market fund.
Interest accrued daily as well.

Reinvestment is available, it’s just like the VGIF you know the only difference is that interest is valued daily, and reinvestment is done at the end of each month not every six months like VGIF.

Actually, the method of reinvesting at the end of each month just started this January. IBTC used to reinvest randomly.

The SFS operates the same way in fact default is reinvesting except you state otherwise.
Reinvestment here is quarterly.

Please to help my ministry tell you wife to use my link on my signature. The account officer will still be maintained.

After registration, she can inform the account officer or if she insists on the paper form kindly write this code on the form L63LJ7GX

180 days is not a very long time. Buying the land can wait till then. Don't let any agent/seller rush you.
When buying, it pays to prolong the negotiation to get a discount. When selling, it pays to hasten things up and make a quick sale.

As you are already aware, the interest of TBill is paid up front. That means that you would only get your 13 M back complete if you wait till maturity except you reinvested the capital with interest.

Also, resale is subject to prevailing market rate and as you were charged for bid so you will be charged for offering. So all these is supposed to affect it

However, the last primary auction rate was very low so is the prevailing market rate at the secondary market. Thus, putting everything together it should benefit you more if you decide to sell. If you are able to resale at @ 4% or below, you would have benefited @ least half of the rate of the 2 months 7 days left.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/02/dmo-to-slowdown-demand-in-bond-market-as-fg-cautions-against-hike-in-interest-rate/

The planned sale of Federal Government of Nigeria, FGN, bonds valued at N70 billion by the Debt Management Office, DMO, is expected to engender a slowdown in demand in the bond market this week, says analysts at Dunn Loren Merrifield.

The Analysts — Mr. Tola Odukoya and Mr. Jide Nwaogwugwu— in their weekly report, titled, Bond watch, made available to Vanguard, Monrday, however, predicted a bullish trend in the bond market going by the attractiveness of the yields.
They said the Federal Government through the DMO, will this week, offer at the primary auction, N35 billion each of 7.00 per cent October 2019 and 16.39 per cent January 2022 bonds which are trading at 16.03 per cent and 15.95 per cent respectively in the secondary market.

The analysts also cautioned the monetary authorities against increasing the benchmark interest rate — the Monetary Policy Rate — saying any attempt to increase the rate to address current inflationary realities will stifle the growth potentials of the bond market.

According to the, the release of the consumer inflation data shows a significant rise in the Consumer Price Index, CPI, to 12.60 per cent in January 2012, from 10.30 per cent in December 2011.

They blamed the increase in inflation rate to the partial removal of the petroleum subsidy, a development which triggered a spike in food and non-food items as a result of the increase in transportation costs.

“We are however of the opinion that, despite the increase in CPI, monetary authorities should hold benchmark rate at the current level – or possibly reverse the current policy stance – and seek to stimulate economic growth.

“We believe that further increase in the benchmark rate to address inflationary pressure will lead to a possible reversal of the growth of the domestic bond market and further stifle the flow of the long term funding to the real economy,” they said.

In their analysis for the bond market for the previous week, the analysts said the fixed income secondary market continued its bullish run from the previous week across all maturities with the greatest impact felt on the short term maturities and the 16.39 per cent FGN January 2022 bond.

The major driver, they said was the aggressive demand at the treasury bills primary auction, which drove down the discount rates of the 182 and 364 days bills to 15.50 per cent and 15.55 per cent from 16.0975 and 16.899 per cent respectively.

“However, there was a slight increase in the stop rate for the 91 day treasury bills from 14.70 per cent to 14.80 per cent.
“Expectedly, the 5.50 19 February 2013 FGN bond stopped trading as a result of the term to maturity dropping below one year whilst the 9.50 23 Feb 2012, worth N35.0 billion, matured,” they noted.

Investment One became useless online as soon as they were 'acquired' by GTCO. Unable to access my account (for normal redemption) via the new website they sent to me, I sent another email to them and they sent a Redemption Form to me via email to fill in and return. I simply redeemed my TOTAL investment straight into my bank account. The rest is history 👍🏽

I recently liquidated my investmentone/GTCO MMF funds.
I sent an email to them requesting for my statement which they did and I was able to confirm my balance, afterwards I requested for withdrawal and a form was sent to me which I filled and sent back to them to process. I got my funds in less than 24hours.

When i noticed that my VGIF was no longer available on my Investnent One online access, i sent them a mail and they promptly replied that GTFunds now manages it and included their email to contact them. I sent the mail to GTFunds but got no response. After three days, i called a number i saw on their website. A lady picked and was speaking phonetics. I told her to cut it out. I told her that after all the funfair GTFunds did to acquire Investment One, they cannnot even maintain an online presence nor have the courtesy to send an email to customers on the takeover and that their service is scrap. I had to give them my Investment One customer number so that they can send me my statement. I will likely not topup what is there until i see an improvement in their services.
