Dead on arrival.
INEC has contracts with bus owners in garages. All the bus owners in approved garages are his people . INEC needs buses driven by experienced Lagos drivers with street credibility.
MC Oluomo does not need INEC, it is INEC that needs MC.

Go rest jor, are you saying without them materials won't be distributed?.
Oluomo is an interested party and such roles to distribute materials should not be accorded him initially in a sane clime, maybe you can run ur own firm like that.. goodluck

This is slothful thinking.

Ethnicity is not the issue at stake here. I know you are most comfortable when it is the topic of discussion but you're going to have to exert yourself a little bit more here.

The matter at stake is an implicit or explicit conflict of interest. Some of the executives of the transport unions (whose members INEC wishes to engage as contractors) have openly declared their support for candidates in this election. All INEC needs to do (in the short term at least, until INEC & FG explain why INEC doesn't have its own logistics resources angry) is demonstrate that the integrity of the elections will not be impaired in any way. That's all Nigerians are asking for.

It doesn't matter whether the polling unit is in Kaura Namoda, Ikot Abasi, Ankpa, Moniya or Upper Iweka. The requirements should be uniform across board: no conflict of interest among direct or support staff. And...where there is an implied conflict of interest, INEC must spell out how it will be mitigated. That's how it works...or should work.

The ethnicity of the vendors or contractors engaged by INEC is irrelevant to the discussion. Don't move us in that direction, please.

You aint making any point here, Inec have being conducting election in Nigeria since 1999 till 2019 and they have use Nurtw drivers across the nation, these not some new or an ideal they just came up with, whats the fuss
If Mc olumo was getting logistic contract from inec by default he won't have applied and Inec made they stand clear to the public, whats the fuss.
I have nothing against IGBOS asides politics, i notice they are terrible losers in politics, they cry wolf and play victim card just too much in everything, can anyone swear with there lives Transport workers in East have no preferred candidate ?
INEC made it clear they have no business with MC olumo, whatelse again ?? abi dey should hire GIGM or YSG motors cheesy

Thank you for this, just want to add to it, every bus carrying electoral materials will surely have security operatives with them, and how sure are we that other transport agencies do not have their own candidate they support even though they did not declare it openly

An old error is still an error.

You say INEC has been conducting elections from 1999 to 2019 with these NURTW contract agreements. Maybe, just maybe...it is agreements like these that have made it impossible for any of our elections to end without heated controversy and litigation.

If this NURTW arrangement (or any other INEC policy, contract or agreement) casts any doubt on the integrity of the election it should be revised or done away with. The elections should be free and fair and also be seen to be free and fair.

What's the fuss? undecided

The APC is kicking against the appointment of Hajia Naa'jatu Mohammed by the PSC as an election observer...and rightly so. She has made some very strong statements about the APC candidate - and those statements cast doubt on her ability to be a neutral, impartial observer. Not only that, she has pitched her tent with another presidential candidate in this election. Unless the PSC intends to appoint an observer for each candidate in this election, it is only fair that Hajia Naa'jatu's appointment should be reversed. Can you see what the fuss is all about now?

Well...I have nothing to say about your views up there on Nigerian ethnicities. That isn't one of my 'core competencies' as they say. But as for your comment on partisan transport workers in Eastern Nigeria - by all means expose them so they can be gotten rid of. As I told another poster - the permanent solution is for INEC to have its own logistics resources - after all, other agencies of government have theirs. The short term solution (for this election at least) is for INEC to demonstrate that these contracts with NURTW, Parks & Garages etc. will not impair the integrity of this election. Who will accompany the drivers and INEC staff? Who will act as observers and also accompany the electoral materials as they move? To what extent can the vehicles be tracked via GPS? These and more are the questions that need answers.

reddingtonblack:

It is a mystery and a great shame to every true tradesman and every person with a formal qualification (HND, OND, Bachelors etc.) that transport unions of extremely doubtful value have risen to become such powerful non-state actors in day to day living in Nigeria. Those of us who should know better have inexplicably yielded full control of the movement of men and materials to illiterate thugs and drug addicts - and this is why everything to do with the transport sector has gone to shit. undecided

MC Oluomo is the symptom...not the disease.

LOL !! since when did Nurtw become a topic in election malpractice, we all know in Nigeria politicians don't ever accept defeat, even buhari never accept defeat all the time he lose, just as when things go obedient way it is Organic but it dare goes the other way it is money induced,

We have over 10 registered parties and in the last 20years there is no court case indicting Nurtw of compromising the outcome of an election ... so it's preposterous for one party to demand INEC review or change the status quo because they feel so, base on what evidence, what happens to majority??
INEC have turn down Mc olumo request publicly, if Obedient are not satisfied they can go jump into the lagoon, una wahala always baseless

Lagos Parks and Garages Chairman is MC Oluomo.
The entire Executives of the Parks and Garages and the Leadership are Oluomo's right hand men and fellow agberos who rose through the ranks with him in NURTW.
Lagos State proscribing NURTW (the national body) within Lagos and creating Parks & Garages was simply a ploy to have Oluomo and his people in place for elections.

INEC is currently using NURTW and RTEAN and LUBOAN all over the country for transporting stuffs, but since these bodies are proscribed in Lagos, INEC doesn't have options but to use Parks and Garages (led by Oluomo) in Lagos State.

So if there is a court order barring INEC working with Oluomo, and NOT Parks and Garages, then its just another Kangaroo Court Judgement we experience in Nigeria, because Oluomo will simply load credit on his phone and give instructions to others in the body he superintends over, even if he cannot be publicly seen running the show.

Oluomo is partisan and biased to APC, so is everyone in his crew. Oluomo has a history of hooliganism and thuggery, and people don't want to have him involved in something like elections.
