Deltamani:
Wendie Renard quits Les Bleues 🇫🇷 giving the following statement

https://twitter.com/WRenard/status/1629104287774134272?t=-VpJxmgr1WEPL0snpoDK9w&s=19

I defended the blue white red jersey 142 times with passion, respect, commitment and professionalism. I love France more than anything, I'm not perfect, far from it, but I can no longer endorse the current system, far from the requirements required by the highest level. It's a sad but necessary day to preserve my sanity.

It is with a heavy heart that I come by this message to inform you of my decision to take a step back with the French team. Unfortunately, I will not do this World Cup in such conditions.

My face can hide the pain, but my heart hurts... and I don't want to hurt anymore.

Thank you for your support and respect for my decision.
Just few months to the World Cup…

The situation has been deteriorating for years and nobody is reacting! This is mind blowing, thankfully Amandine Henry and now Wendie Renard is reacting.

Calling all french Football authorities!!!

Diacre is toxic. No other explanation. Yet the FFF, as the Spanish Federation, do not respect women footballers!
Clearly things are very bad on the French team. I can’t believe that Diacre is still supported by their federation.

Four takeaways from Super Falcons’ indifferent outing at the Revelations Cup: Waldrum, Oshoala, Echegini
Nigeria ended their adventure at the Revelations Cup in Mexico with a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Costa Rica early on Wednesday morning.

The Super Falcons, with the narrow win, finished as the third-best team at the four-nation invitational tournament.

Here are the major talking points around the team’s ten-day stay in Mexico

1 Randy Waldrum does not know his best eleven yet
American tactician Randy Waldrum has been at the helm of the Super Falcons’ coaching affairs for over two years after taking the job in October 2020.

Still, the 66-year-old is not fully aware of how best to deploy the talents at his disposal.

Waldrum is undecided about whether Ashleigh Plumptre is a left-back, centre-back, or defensive midfielder.

Osinachi Ohaleis Waldrum’s first-choice centre-back, but the issue of who will pair the 31-year-old is still unclear. Onome Ebi, Demehin, and Plumptre have taken turns beside her to little success.

The same could be said in midfield, where only Benfica’s Christy Ucheibe has a settled role, with the other two positions up for grabs. There is so much to say about the attack.

2. Ifeoma Onumonuis not Nigeria’s best alternative to Asisat Oshoala
Tall, strong, and a hard worker, Onumonu is the prototype of any manager’s ideal forward.

But the Super Falcons have not seen nor enjoyed much of her goalscoring prowess.

While the Rancho Cucamonga-born striker has a decent record in front of goal at the club level, she only has two goals for Nigeria in 14 appearances.

With Waldrum keeping faith with the 28-year-old, the goals have dried up for the Falcons. The team managed just one goal in three games in Mexico despite creating several chances.

Uchenna Kanu and Esther Okoronkwo must be given more time to stake their claims to a starting shirt.

3. The Super Falcons need Asisat Oshoala

While the Nigerian national women’s team has struggled for goals on the continent and beyond, the Barcelona forward has been a consistent goalscoring machine in the Spanish Primera Division Femenina.

The Falcons registered only three goals in their last eight games, losing seven. Oshoala, on the other hand, has found the back of the net 15 times in 10 appearances in 2023 alone.

Nigeria failed without her at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the Revelations Cup. Efforts should be made to get her firing at the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

4. Echegini is Nigeria’s best creative outlet
Jennifer Onyi Echegini finally made the Super Falcons starting lineup against Costa Rica, and she showed off her immense talents even at such a young age.

The 21-year-old was easily Nigeria’s best player on the pitch, with her movement and composure on the ball causing several difficulties for the opponents.

Echegini crowned her display with the assist for the Falcons’ only goal in Mexico, and it will be interesting to see how head coach Randy Waldrum unleashes her at the World Cup.

With all due respect, who cares? Wetin consign agbero with overload?
I mean, how does their disarray negatively impact our beloved Super Falcons?? I begi!!

For all I care, make the French team get worse and continue to be in disarray. It benefits other countries as they will progress at their expense.
And while we are at it, ditto that for both the Spanish and Canadian teams.

Honestly, it feels like some of these federations saw the USSF make no changes and still win the WC in 2019 and thought that they could do it too. But they forgot that the US women have set the standard for equal pay and workplace standards so other players have a model the follow now. They US women weren't the only trailblazers (I'm looking at you Ada Hegerberg) but it helps.

I saw a great exchange between Hegerberg and Yuki Nagasato today. Ada was supporting the French players and continuing to speak out and Yuki responded with "I stepped away from the national team 7 years ago because of lack of respect from them. But I couldn't speak out at the time. But now Time to act, yes and speak louder 🔥."

This isn't new but the players have examples to follow, they have more security, and they have better platforms. And as Pinoe said last year, once the players finish with their Federation(s), watch out FIFA, you're next.

Looks like only black players were involved, does this have any racial undertone or is it just a coincidence?

What exactly is the issue? The bone of contention ganganhuh The matter isn't clear...

Men national teams don't have time for this... Players complain sometimes yes, but we hardly see all these kinds of gang up against the coaches...
If these women were serious, they won't just walk away ..they will retire permanently..

I ask again, what exactly is the issue?

What do you mean it doesn't happen in men's game. It happens regularly in men's game. I remember the Lampard/ Terry cabal then that usually get coaches sacked regularly then.

The difference is that when it happens in the men's game, 9/10 times the coach end up getting sacked without it generating into a drama like it's happening with the women.

Trust me, if Three lions players wake up one morning to gang up against Southgate, he'll be gone by the end of the month. Difference being that men's footballers hold more power.

Your second paragraph is what I already emphasized on in my previous post... There's no drama in men's football...All that drama won't fix anything.. And in men's football, the coach can deal with the players first before they deal with him. Keshi retired some veterans from the super eagles after he took the job because he was wary of them...most of them stayed retired throughout his tenure .

But again, why is all these happening in he women national teams? What about their clubs?

It's called Growth. The women's game is growing at a very fast rate. The players are now getting more empowered just like it is with the men. So they are now demanding more and better. However, the various coaches and FAs are yet to come to terms with that reality and still believing in the old ways of treating the players like shit and expect them to take anything being thrown at them, whether right or wrong

This is Nigeria, Some of them would snitch on themselves again. Remember the 2016 After WAFCON Protest which they said lead to Omagbemi sack, Oparanozie issues some time ago..

She has got quick feets, Creative, Strong, excellent passer of the ball and has the ability to get past her markers, uses both feet’s effectively…
Which of the Midfielders Combination would love you love to see Randy try out in Midfield??

Christy Ucheibe, Ngozi Okobi and Onyi Echegini
Or
Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe and Onyi Echegini
Or
Christy Ucheibe, Onyi Echegini and Tony Payne

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani:
Onyi Echegini is pretty very versatile too as a Midfielder, playing as a Central and Attacking Midfielder.. or as a Winger.

I would prefer her in Attacking Midfield and also a limited defensive assignments. so we can enjoy her attacking abilities.. Bring in two other midfielders who can play as double pivots one Defensively while the other double job of Defending andattacking , (DM and Box2Box)

It means they will come back.

You know I stayed away from the conversation because I didn't quite know what the crux of the matter is with the French national team. But we can make inferences since this seem to be happening to many female national teams across Europe and North America.

I think there's enough blame to go around, but the federation are primarily to blame. The ladies aren't shown enough respect. Like you rightly opined in one of your contributions, this wouldn't happen in the men's national team. At best, federation heads will try to resolve whatever the challenge is amicably with the guys, but they seem to not take these women seriously.

How can top players in the Spanish national teams leave the team and the FA moves on like nothing happened? One person can be unreasonable, but a group of players? If a coach is having issues with 5 players in a team then he's lost the dressing room simple.

Remember we had same problem here in Nigeria too. Oliseh came in as Super Eagles manager and he was having issues with all the top players. Osaze and Vincent Enyiama left the team because of him, Mikel also had issues with him. We only knew about this cause these ones were vocal. If you had issues with 3 it means most of the team had issues with you. Little wonder he was sacked a few months in.

The other side of this is that the ladies also sometimes makes demands that do not make economic sense. For instance, the Equal pay thingy is BS, economics doesn't support it. It is only happening in the US because of the GOODWILL of the men's team. This doesn't necessarily mean every other country is in a position to do this. If you want more money, then do the work. Be an advocate of promotion for the women's game. Advocate for more realistic deals like a bigger percentage of winnings in championships etc. Be reasonable.

So much to say, but will stop here.
