Santa2 bigtt76 kode12 Solumtoya Thank you all your responses. Much appreciated. Maybe to put things in context, subject involved will graduate in June with visa to expire in September and has already started job applications. Subject won't mind non-sponsored professional jobs hence clicking no to be able to at least get a foot in the door and then continue searching for sponsorship jobs from there. I have seen one or two people use this route. |

CheesyTee: That's outside Visa and IHS Fees for applicant and dependents... Even at that, the money isn't typically their problem as much as the uncertainties around the process. Some sponsorship processes take 2 weeks; others can take as much as 6 months where the Applicant is trying to get transcript and Letter of English proficiency from Universities, etc Understandably, they may prefer someone who doesn't require sponsorship. 2 Likes |

Solumtoya: Also true, but for jobs that need certain skill sets or ones with Huge employee turnover, it's no brainer for them to start offering sponsorship The place I work, I even advised the top management guys in a meeting (even thought I don't need it) to just look at sponsorship instead of seeing their best hands leave They refused to until when they saw that people kept leaving every month to where there's sponsorship Companies may decide not to do it though but common sense says to 4 Likes |

CheesyTee: This is incorrect. You pay £536 to get a sponsorship license(small companies) and you can sponsor up to 10 people with it. Bigger companies pay higher but it's still not up to £1500 pounds for the license. |

brine:The government still charges the employer a fee for employing you on a Tier 2 visa. I think Theresa May introduced it and it's about £1k a year. |

CheesyTee: The OP is on student visa. Immigration skills charge doesn’t apply if the company is sponsoring an applicant on tier 4 visa. |

I think what she's saying here is linked to those companies that hire and sponsor workers from outside the UK for jobs which may not be on the shortage occupation list or something compared to those who sponsor workers from Tier 4 brine: |
