Watching P. Kane skate wearing another jersey outside of my Blackhawks was quite difficult, more difficult than I thought it would be. I know I advocated for us to move on from him and Toews but this is harder than I thought. I wish Kane all the best and thank you for all the memories. Chicago will always be your home..
Lol. How you guys managed to have Toews and Kane and be irrelevant for the last 4+ years definitely needs to be studied.

3 Stanley Cups is definitely enough. I know I'd be sad when Malkin and Crosby eventually leave but 3 Stanley Cups is definitely more than enough compensation for my team.

We're definitely approaching the end of an era which seems odd because these guys are still only just 34-35 but have been playing for an eternity in sporting terms

Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 4:14am On Mar 04, 2023
What a comeback from the Nets. They may not be the best offensive team in the league but that team is stacked with defenders that can get stops regularly.

No, pls dont say this. That was a grown man's game back then. The size and way they played make it look deceptively slow, but it wasnt. Go time those Larry Bird jumpers. He looked slow, could barely jump. But time it and see where he releases from, and compare it with KD.

Speed is not the most important thing in a game. I would argue its not even skill. Its the grown man mindset which is lacking today. Outside of a few shining stars like Lebron, Durant, Curry, Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, we got stars that are OK with missing half the season just because they dont feel too good. Kawhi, AD etc all skilled, but soft like charmin. Soft. Dont care how fast they are, they soft. If they dropping 40pts on your @ss at half time and get to 70, you soft. Trifling as well. Rockets Im looking at you angry
Yea, another PHYSICALITY merchant grin

Don’t even get me started with today’s game. This team is susceptible to penetrative offense. Our defense has always concerned me. Sometimes it feels like Mazzulla has way too much options he confuses himself and doesn’t get the right match up at different times of the game.

So the Clippers are 0-5 since Westbrook joined. Cannot catch a break. Just had to sell the game at the death. I really think the Clippers must be wondering what they got themselves into

He played as good a game as you could play too

The clippers played themselves, their comments on Westbrook when he was with Lakers was hypocritical, they were sounding as if Lakers was ganging up on him, as if they didn’t see his bad plays and even his attitude.

Westbrook and/or powell was responsible for their lost via turnover at a critical time.

Any MMA fan here?

Jon Jones is back. Who do you have Jones or Gane?

Everyone seems to be underrating Ciryl Gane for some reason. I think people underrate just how strong Ngannou is and the fact that he's heavier unlike Jones. I don't believe Jones despite being the better wrestler will be able to take Gane down that easy especially if Ciryl works on his TDD.

Anyway I'm going against popular opinion and picking Gane for the win

He has been suspended by the Grizzlies for 2 games as we await the decision of the NBA.

His major sponsors, Nike and Powerade are looking into the incident..

Embiid’s conditioning will always determine if the Sixers stand any chance. Dude is gassed out by the 4th in almost all of his games I have seen this season. He ends up settling for jumpers in the 4th which he struggles to make.

The Sixers also have to unleash Harden’s scoring and stop with this assist nonsense. He is the reason they came back to win this game because Embiid was spent by the 4th on both ends of the court.

Made it look quite easy too shocked, quite shocked Gane couldn't even defend the first takedown attempt and got choked. Starting to think Bones would've manhandled Ngannou in the later rounds if they had fought.

Nah. I never really rated Ciryl. But I was surprised he was taken down so easily. Ngannou however is a beast. He can punch and he can wrestle. This nonsense I just saw from Gane would not happen to Ngannou.

Gane's wrestling is disgraceful. At this point I'm almost tempted to ask is it oochie Wally or is it One mic? Is it more of Jones greatness or is Gane just a spectacularly incompetent grappler. I've seen smaller men than Gane stuff Jones takedowns.

Between Bones and Ngannou it will come down to who gasses out first. But Ngannou is a much much better defensive wrestler than Gane. It is impossible to look as bad as Gane did on the ground. Do you know Gane had two chances to grab Jones neck and was too confused to take advantage.
Re: The NBA Begins by Skrrrrrrr: 12:59pm On Mar 05, 2023
And to think Bones started this fight by going punch for punch with Gane, something he dares not try with Ngannou.
Yet Gane made no single impact.
Disgraceful...

Ngannou has a really good take down defense as evident against Miocic in their rematch, but Jones is another beast altogether (Since his strength at LHW translates to HW too). His fight with Miocic will tell us whether Gane was really awful or Jones was just goated.

TBH, Jones violated Daniel Cormier in their two bouts at LHW (Who most acknowledge as the greatest wrestler in MMA) . My issue with Jones was whether he could translate his wrestling advantage in the HW and boy did he. If he beats Stipe, then i hope Dana would bring Ngannou back.

I haven't had the time to rewatch the match to see those opportunities, but as poor a grappler that Ngannou is, even he had enormous ground time against Gane. As technical as Gane is, he has a poor fight IQ so I wouldn't be surprised.

Looking forward to Bones vs Miocic grin

You and many others grossly underrated the greatness of Jones and I stayed quiet because I knew he was coming into the octagon with a point to prove considering how long he has been out and the circumstances surrounding it. Gane is no match for Jones, I think we sometimes forget how dominant this man was in his prime. When I saw his training videos and the weigh in, I knew Gane was in trouble.

From the moment the bell rang, Jones was in attack mode and never stopped chasing Gane. This isn’t about Gane’s poor wrestling but Jones superior grappling and wrestling skills. Did you see how methodical Jones was once they got the floor? Gane tried to counter the grappling with his floor positioning but Jones already prepared for that and slowly found his way on top of Gane.

Nganou is a different beast because of his power and defense but I definitely don’t underestimate Jones. Jones needed a short fight because it is his conditioning still needs work considering it’s his first fight in 3 years. He is 35 while Nganou is 36, he just needs time to train and prepare if that fight is to happen.

If they fight and it goes beyond the 2nd round, then it’s anybody’s fight. Nganou player with his food the last time and I know he is watching Jones.

Exactly. Gane actually fought scared. He was so terrified of the takedown he didn't even fight his usual style or try to really stand in the pocket. He would throw a punch and be so far away it would barely connect. Even when Jones missed and Gane had an opening he could not take it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW08pGmnpFU

You're right. An absolutely disgusting performance from Gane. No question Jones is the GOAT but Gane is more or less a fraud at this point. You can't be this terrible at wrestling at the highest level I'm sorry

The physical edge Jones has over DC IMO killed any real chance of DC being able to beat Jones. A 6'4 DC with 82 inch reach would have been a different proposition

Look at how he struggled with Reyes.

Back to Gane and I really don't want to downplay what Jones did here but for Jones to take you down so easily and early in the fight tells me Gane did not do any type of grappling training. As a matter of fact if Francis had decent offensive grappling he probably ground and pounds Gane to submission.

Gane is technical but this is Jones second fastest finish in his UFC career that is a huge indictment on Gane.

A Jones vs Blaydes fight would have been more competitive. Stipe is too old, prime Stipe maybe
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 8:01pm On Mar 05, 2023
So the Warriors went 7-4 without Steph. I can't think of another team that can have such record with their best player out. That team is a super duper team. I'd have to question them if they don't win it all this season.

I didn't underrate Jones, I overrated Gane. Gane's wrestling is far worse than I was expecting which suggests the rumors were true. He's actually a lazy trainer. I'm getting big Anthony Joshua vibes from Gane. He clearly lacks that hunger and mean streak you need to dominate.

With Jones you didn't counter before the fight so what you're doing here is playing Monday morning Quarterback grin

Jones breakdown of Gane and his weaknesses in the press conference was very smart but a guy like Gane really is supposed to be self aware and hammer on those flaws in training. I saw footage of Gane and he was mostly working out with smaller guys, I didn't see any heavyweights, any wrestlers and he seems to be a guy that doesn't like getting his hands dirty. So I will agree that I criminally overestimated Gane

Come on man. Gane was the one who kicked him in the nuts in the very first exchange. Gane was standing and trading with Jones the problem is Gane could not trade with any real conviction because he was scared of the takedown threat? Why was he scared? Because he did not do his home work.

Look I'm not here to dispute Jones GOAT status but the God honest truth is that Gane did not put up a fight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW08pGmnpFU

Look at the video and take notes of all the things Gane failed to do.

It speaks to Jones greatness that Gane was that intimidated but this would make Gane a fraud because why was he now so calm going into the fight.

Ngannou will not fight Jones with the same fear that Gane did just because Ngannou can at least wrestle. What Jones did is remarkable but it was his second quickest finish. That's an indictment on Gane. Two things can be true.

What sets Jones apart is he's so cerebral. He's a student of the game. He really is. His physical gifts are one thing but the mental toughness is why he's so difficult to beat.

Ngannou is like Alex Pereira a lucky punch is what he needs and Jones knows that no way he bull rushes Ngannou like he did Gane. He probably bids time and waits till latter rounds

Sports medicine and training has tremendously improved. The resources that are available for players in today’s era is incredible. Something as ignorable as the shoes they wear today! Some of these shoes are intentionally designed to protect different parts of their foot.. Before we even begin to talk about how it influences athletic abilities like jump..

You are still making the same mistake(s) by refusing to give Jones his due and making this about Gane's weakness versus Jones Greatness, we are talking about the GOAT in some people's eyes here! In Gaines we are talking about the number 1 ranked in his weight class, not some scrap that was picked off the street to oil out Jones's rust!

The video you posted buttresses everything that I said about Jones and his greatness, one would think I posted that video. Listen from 1:00-1:27 and you would see video alluding to the embolden, which were my observations during the fight. From his superior technique in ensuring Gane was unable to counter. I told you from my earlier post that when I saw his training videos and the weigh in, I knew Gane was in trouble because Jones looked extremely motivated, especially when you consider how long he has been out and the circumstances surrounding his departure.

Nganou's potential fight against Jones is going to be a different task because of the former's power and defensive abilities but if it goes long past the 2nd round, it would depend on Jones's conditioning at the time of the fight as it would be anybody's meat at that point. Jones is no scrub and his motivation at this time is on another level. Sometimes, I just sit back and watch the noise and that was what I did. I had Jones before the fight and thought of responding but I just let it go.
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 12:12am On Mar 06, 2023
Impressive win by the Lakers and a dominant performance by AD. AD has been playing like he wants to win recently, he looks motivated and is tired of the losses, he just needs to stay healthy...which seems impossible.
