Resign, Don’t Blame Your Staff – Atiku Tells INEC Chairman by Ofunaofu: 8:06am On Mar 06, 2023
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has called on the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, to resign from his position.

INEC declared the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, the winner of the February 25 election with 8,794,726 votes.

Tinubu beat Atiku who polled 6,984,520 votes and the Labour Party, LP, candidate Peter Obi who secured 6,101,533 votes.

Yakubu, during a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) yesterday, noted that a number of issues affected the outcome of the polls.

He vowed that officials responsible for the infractions wouldn’t be involved in the gubernatorial poll on March 11 and would face disciplinary actions.

However, Atiku in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, on Sunday said: “Prof. Yakubu should be man enough to own up to his failure.

“A fish rots from the head down, and that is what has happened at INEC.

“Rather than suspend any staff, the INEC chairman is the one that needs to step aside as his first act of contrition.”

As characteristic of anything APC, Mahamoud Yakubu choose to blame INEC adhoc staff when he himself was seen on life TV announcing grossly incongruent results even rebuffing efforts to get the correct thing done in his haste to announce a crooked criminal as INEC-president elect.

It is obvious that Mahmoud and INEC had very noble intentions but derailed along the way.

For the first time a very minority party is winning elections and for the first time citizens genuinely believe that they could defend and monitor their votes through the BVAS and IREV innovations.

Honestly I credit Mahmoud for his innovations.
Let's put sentiments aside and give him credit for this.

However, At the end of the day it was either that he compromised or that the Nigerian factor came into account.

What is this Nigerian factor? Crooked and corrupt politicians as usual finding ways to corrupt ever thing they come across.

I will never be able to understand one man will stupidly truncate the voice of millions of people and still be bold to come in front of camera to speak English.

Yakubu should be hurriedly arrested and locked up for Gross incompetence that's capable of causing civil unrest

Exactly
He knew what he did.
He sold out on the presidential and it won't stand.
He should resign and be banned from public office at federal, state and local govt levels

He cannot just resign and go scot free, he should be made to dance to the tune of the law if found guilty of electoral malpractices and corruptions.

What is all this news na?

I say such reports are not relevant with the following post election projections;

INEC is the best electoral outfit in the world!

Nigerians are completely Happy with the Tinubu/Shettima outcome. It signifies national representation and unity.

APC remains the most loving political party in Nigeria, which all Nigerians have embraced since the start of the Buhari era.

Nigerians are enthusiastically awaiting the dynamic charisma of MC Oluomo as the new minister of Transport- The state of Dubai can be achieved in 1year with this guy running affairs.

Yes o! "Teamship" and efficient division of responsibilities by B.A.T would be brilliantly celebrated as he wouldn't need to address anything as the president- Gbajabiamila, Sanwo Olu, El Rufai etc would handle presidential matters.

Nigerians can't just wait for Agbado to become the national staple. #B.A.T agricultural reforms loading

With 50million youths in the army, how will Nigeria have any security issues. #Elite Commando Unit Loading.

During international appearances B.A.T just needs to tell them he is called "Jagaban" and the title infers that intellectual questions should not be directed to him.

Nigerians are eagerly waiting the tips of how to become "Jagabans" from "the Jagaban" himself. 8 years of #Jagabaning loading.

The next president of Nigeria needs to start looting wealth now so that in 8 years he can successfully achieve his presidential selection and coronation. #BVAS 2.0 loading

Nigeria is going to be such an amazing place, the wait for a townhall different... is finally over, why the need to Japa?

B.A.T for the love of Naija!
#The average Nigerian is a Batman

Few months from now.. everyone will go back to facing their lives.

Atiku and Obi had their chance at the polls to stop APC, they should move on cos Nigerian judiciary won't help them out.

The judicials will only cash out from them, that's how bad the system is.

Watch urchins attack and call me Igbo.
To them anyone against the irregularities and incompetency of INEC is an Igbo man.

Are you people not ashamed that in 2023 we are having such a shameful election after billions of your money was used to prepare for this.

Are you not thinking??
During the SARS protest, you all were divided and turned it into an Igbo thing, why do you people always allow yourselves to be used.

Don’t you want a better Nigeria? Are there jobs? What about inflation? What kind of country do you want your kids to grow in? Have you checked the country’s debt profile, what exactly was the money used for?

That inec man is a disaster !!!

You see any name related to or sounding as such,........ Like, Mahmood, Mahmoud, Muhammadu, should seriously be avoided in Nigerian politics and at such, in any leadership positions of our beloved country.

They have done more harm than good to this nation .

Ironically, the name is a good name !

But those who have bore the name so far most especially in Nigeria, have always acted the opposite way, and damaged the beauty of that name, "Muhammed / Hammed, which simply means, "Praise" or the praised one".

NB: This is not to eulogize or denigrate the prophet of Islam !!!
But you see, both Inec chairman and the outgoing Nigeria's president have done more harm than good to this nation.
