As Nigerians brace up for the Governorship and State House of Assembly phase of the 2023 general elections due for Saturday March 11, Lagosians have another date to keep with history. People-driven history will be made, so they must beware of the symbolic Ides of March which is cloaked in the campaign of falsehood and divisive ethnic politicking by individuals whose fabled political structure was crushed in the last presidential election in Lagos.

The desperados are jittery about another defeat and whipping up primitive sentiments against Labour Party's Governorship Candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), calling him names in order to turn indigenous people against him. In reality, what they are afraid of is the solid pedigree of this original Lagosian, his ability to deliver and vintage ethnic hybrid position to play the politics of inclusiveness that accommodate everyone, no matter ethnic, religious or economic status.

Who is this Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and why are they so keen to disparage him with unfounded fallacies? Gbadebo (‘The one who brings the crown’) is a Lagos original with true blood flowing in his veins. He is a proud descendant of the prestigious Rhodes-Vivour family, whose pedigree as foremost legal luminaries and judges, with distinguished contributions to the state's development, date back to the 1800s - about 400 years in history.

Indeed, Gbadebo is the great grandson of eminent Justice Steven Bankole Rhodes, a founding father of the executive and judiciary, who served on the Executive Council with eminent Nigerians like Adeyemo Alakija. They and similarly minded nationalists built Lagos, a credit some people have been trying to steal. Also, Gbadebo's uncle is the Supreme Court Judge, Justice Bode Rhodes Vivour.

In terms of direct parentage, GRV’s own father is Barrister Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, a distinguished lawyer and detribalized son, who embodies the Lagos spirit of accommodation by marrying a wonderful Igbo woman, Nkechi, who is Gbadebo’s mother today. Interestingly, GRV’s diverse names as Gbadebo (‘The one who brings the crown’), Chinedu (‘God is leading’) and Patrick (‘of noble origin’) all point to a man destined for greatness and leadership.

So, with such a rich and highly accommodating pedigree, politicians are afraid that GRV's candidacy makes it easy for both members of the Igbo and Yoruba tribes to support, trust and see him as one of their own. Before and after the last presidential election, Gbadebo’s rising profile as an authentic unifying face of Lagos made powers that be to descend to sponsoring social media influencers to promote a fake campaign of an Igbo takeover agenda. They even lied about GRV saying Lagos is no man’s land.

The truth is that the opponents do not want a true and accommodating indigene to be governor. Greed for power and resources makes the enemies of Lagos go any length to retain power. However, a GRV, aside from a rich pedigree, will bring a breath of fresh air and restore the original glory of the state with inclusive and progressive development policies.

He has pledged to use 10% of Lagos IGR to empower 1 million poor Lagosians with interest-free loans. GRV has plans to rehabilitate the ‘Agberos’, area boys and thugs, and reintegrate them back into society as responsible citizens. He will fix the bad roads in all parts: from Ikotun, Ijegun, Satellite town, Lagos-Badagry Expressway and Ikorodu to Sagamu Expressway, irrespective of the predominant tribe living there in order to boost international trade.

GRV will provide affordable housing and stop the racket that goes on with government built homes. A LP government will make life better for the civil servants, the middle class, will improve wages and salaries for government workers, as well as fight for the poor and the economically disadvantaged. Today, Lagos has over 1 trillion naira debt portfolio and contractual obligations of over 500 billion naira.

GRV’s plan is built around quality and affordable education in public schools, quality and very affordable health services. He will also ensure provision of drinkable water to as many homes as possible and will fight for the poor and underprivileged by introducing transparency into procurement and contracting process and a level playing field to enable the participation of all qualified persons.

GRV supported and coordinated the campaign of Peter Obi as the most competent presidential candidate. With incontrovertible evidence, GRV supports Mr. Obi’s legal bid to contest the presidential election results in Lagos because Obi won the state overwhelmingly. Opponents actually see GRV, a true Lagosian, as their biggest threat to that selfish anti-secession plan.

GRV resolutely refused to sell out and step down from the governorship race in spite of the enticements wrapped as so-called mouth-watering pecuniary offers. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour stands on principles of fairness, integrity, equity, justice and inclusiveness to enthrone a new government that will benefit everyone in Lagos, no matter where they come from.

I am not voting GRV, a man whose wife tweets in favour of LGBTQ is a danger to our core value as a people and i would not be a sentimental obidient and vote a man because he is a Rhode Vivour, a Chinedu or a Gbadebo. If GRV is your choice i respect your decision but he is not mine.

Obidient doesn't mean i should be stupid

Instead of asking concrete question like what would he do differently, what are his antecedence in managing business or responsibility we are descending so low to choosing because he is a Rhode or because he is Chinedu or Gbadebo.

I am voting either doroethy, Sanwo olu or Jandor pls

This one cannot make a good leader. It will be from pan to frying pan.

On what basis should we elect him?

Is it because he's young like Yaya Bello?

Is it because we just want a change like we
changed Jonathan to Buhari or rejected Oshiomole for Edo no be Lagos Obaseki?

Is it just because he cannot speak Yoruba and he's detribilised?

Sanwo-Olu has done well and deserves second time.

Does the second term cement the works of the first, really ..?
Why can't the good works in the first term be enough....
Is the next incoming character not that good enough to change the status quo...?
Experience shows that we are all good....
We could as well enjoy one term and.....
.... experience also shows that One may come in the future and claim he did it all....?!

Best described as a candidate for good government for the future in Lagos State.

Governor Sanwo Olu is doing fine under the circumstances of the Nigerian economy and industrial development of Lagos State visible to discerning individuals. Lagosians should vote Sanwo Olu for continuity.

There is no perfect environment or conditions anywhere in the world, it is the duty of worthy administration to forge ahead doing what is good and right under prevailing conditions.

Sanwo Olu is doing just that, he deserves a second term.

Those ones that are turning against him becasue of his old tweets are largely ignorant. He wants fair treatment for all residents, exactly what people like Falze are saying.

There are video evidences all over the internet where thugs are harassing people and stopping them to vote, but Sanwo Olu has kept quiet.

By the way, how can a sane Yoruba believe that Igbos want to take over their land? They have not done it with their neighbours (Cross River, Delta, etc). Is it in far away Lagos that it will be possible?

Wonderful post!

However, his real and underpinning motives largely remain unclear.

He is benefitting from the current political sand-storm in the midst of a lot of unnecessary ethnocentric, psychological games and image-laundering.

The LP Lagos Guber Candidate is currently on the Board of Al Huda Nigeria Limited and Delta International Commercial City Asaba (DICCA) in Delta State. A company owned by his father Olawale Rhodesvivour. The true corporate and operational status of this company remains unknown till this very moment. His father is not the former Supreme Justice Bode Rhodesvivour. All of these are embedded in the links below.

https://dailytrust.com/delta-signs-mou-for-asaba-commercial-city-project/
http://www.blanknewsonline.com/delta-govt-signs-mou-for-delta-commercial-city-project/

Now, few questions:
1. Has the LP Lagos Guber Candidate resigned from the positions held in these private business concerns?

2. If Yes, can he publish officially his resignation letters and Board Resolutions reflecting the same?

3. If Yes also, why is he leaving such an important project that can exponentially transform Asaba, Delta State to run for Governor in Lagos State at this opportune moment?

4. If No, how does he intend to manage his public office portfolio as Executive Governor of a state like Lagos and private portfolio as an Executive Director in a private construction company faraway in Asaba, Delta State without breaching ethics of corporate governance?

5. On the Delta Commercial City Project in Asaba, what is the current status of this project considering that it was launched since 2016?

6. Can the LP Lagos Guber Candidate maximize this to showcase his track-record and performance in result-orientation, consistency, public service delivery and project completion drive?

7. Simply put, is it an ongoing or abandoned project? Any evidence or proof of performance/ success? If he can not transform Asaba, how can he transform Lagos?

8. Where has the finance for the project been coming from or will be coming from in future? Any audited financial reports to prove accountability and sound managerial ethics?

9. Why did he not foremost prioritize and consider designing and implementing this kind of project for the benefit of Lagos and Lagosians considering the drive to turn Lagos into a megacity?

10. Has the LP Guber Lagos Candidate done a verifiable Assets/ Net Worth Declaration?

These are real issues about character and credibility that the Lagos LP Guber ought to be engaged upon to duly address and clarify.

Let's hope the unnecessary and toxic dust of tribalism and ethno-centricism can settle for this to occur in the appropriate quarters and channels.

The hopes and destinies of Lagos and true Lagosians hang in the balance.

GRV will eliminate agberoism and bring succour to Lagosians..

Lagosians spend 47% of their Salaries and income on Transportation because of extorting by the thugs and touts called Agberoes led by MC Oluomo who is part of the APC government in Lagos state.

When they extort the Danfo drivers, Koropes, Kekes and Okada, they are indirectly extorting Lagosians because these drivers are forced to raise the fees and meet their daily targets.

Available data says that a staggering N253 billion Naira is extorted from Lagosians by MC Oluomo and his goons backed by the APC government through this informal means.

A vote for GRV is a vote against extortion of Lagosians.

A vote for LP is a vote for liberation from these criminal thugs.

A Yoruba man is a Yoruba man forget sentiment

Today most of you as the most tribalist today cause of how you defend Tinubu despite the whole laughing at you while others collect cause they are seen as Nigerians

GRv will help you close a bit of that part.

Help yourself now the world is watching you

It is better despite my tribe am being profile as an Igbo man cause they have the remark of being hustler and friendly love money..

Than to profile as You lot.. tribalist to the core,

But why is it I dreamt that GRv lost the election with a little margin

Go out there, make him win protect your vote.

Majority of those supporting this dude are ibos.
Vote in GVR and watch them demand equal right in Lagos state.
This dude aligned with his mother tribe than that of his father, even had the gut to insult Yorubas .he doesn’t even understand yoruba language.
By the time he start to employing ibos into every post in Lagos state, una eye go clear,no wonder indigbo in Lagos sharply endorse him cos they knw the game they are playing.
Only f00lish Yorubas couldn’t read their handwritings.
They gon finalize their Wõrd ‘Lagos is no man’s land’ when the dude resumes in Alausa .

If you think you are tired of sanwo olu, then vote olajide jandor who is the true son of the soil(awori boy)

My advice for Yoruba people

A Yoruba man is a Yoruba man forget sentiment

Today most of you as the most tribalist today cause of how you defend Tinubu despite the whole laughing at you while others collect cause they are seen as Nigerians

GRv will help you close a bit of that part.

Help yourself now the world is watching you

It is better despite my tribe am being profile as an Igbo man cause they have the remark of being hustler and friendly love money..

Than to profile as You lot.. tribalist to the core,

But why is it I dreamt that GRv lost the election with a little margin

Go out there, make him win protect your vote.
A man abusing Yoruba tribe... He should go govern anambra ...
