Being igbo is not bad but I’m yoruba.

I’m not just happy with all the hate & tribalism but theven the igbos we are fighting for don’t take advice.

You can keep referring to me as emeka or shinedu if that will make you feel better though.
Hello, I've gone through your thread and I don't have much to say but I just want you to not take any thing personal about Igbos or Yorubas, I am Igbo and I've always lived with Yorubas, I've seen first class tribal hatred from some and I've had the best of friends from some, infact in boarding house, the guy who always bullied I and my younger brother was Igbo like me, the person who fought and ended his oppression on me and my brother was a Yoruba guy, he saw the constant oppression and was angry and told us he will end it, we planned with him and he beat the Emeka of a guy, that was the end of his tyranny on us, today that Yoruba guy is in the U.S, he is supporting Peter Obi and I think I know why, I learnt a thing or 2 from him, one thing I just conclude is whatever decision I want to take when it comes to this tribal matter is doing the right thing regardless of the tribe the person comes from.

My best friends in the university where Yoruba Muslims, the moment we met from year 1, we ensured we always stayed in the same hostel till our final year, we did almost everything together, they always had their praying ground in the room and we never had religious or tribal issues, if we were allocated different rooms in hostel, we will work our way back to one room, sometimes we even on purpose frustrate the other owners of the room to exchange rooms with them so that we can have the room to ourselves and sometimes the people we are frustrating could be Igbo or Yoruba grin

If we always judge things from a tribal lens, you will only see all the wrongs and nothing right, Yorubas and Igbos have made mistakes but the question I keep asking myself is: this decision I am taking is it wrong or right if the tribe or race of the person involved is not known...

I've seen very good Yoruba people and I have seen very bad ones, same with the Igbos, the best thing is to avoid taking any side in a tribal way, just stick to what is right, don't let anyone talk you out of doing the right thing whether Igbo or Yoruba...

I'm not forcing anyone to hate BAT. But igbos are bloody doublestandard. They'll protect their own people and we yorubas are easy to jump on useless trends or wokeness.

Till date CSP Okafor can't be found and Obi is not even talking about it.
Whose duty is it to arrest CSP Okafor? You embolden all the criminals in the south east without your compromised law agencies, and then turn around to blame the ordinary Igbo man who has nothing but his business to face. Is there any region that calls out their leaders like the easterners? When they do, same you will accuse them of disrespecting their leaders.

I went into my Facebook page and all I saw was bigoted and hateful Yorubas making this coming gubernatorial elections about igbos’ plan to take over Lagos. I had to run out of there because I was disgusted by the messages all preaching hate and fear of the igbos—who I know are harmless because I’m educated and enlightened and I have risen above tribalism.

Even though we all know all the hate and fear mongering by Yorubas are huge lies meant to destroy this country’ unity, what have igbo leaders said about this issue igbos are facing in Lagos?

I feel so sorry that igbos have been subjected to this humiliation in their own country just because they have leaders who don’t love them. This constant cry and hate by we Yorubas against igbos is so wrong and we all know Tinubu is to blame for all these. But what have igbos and their leaders done about this? When we tell igbos to endeavor to go back home and build and stay in igbo land, they think we are hating them. Now igbos have to be made the boogey man at every election season because Tinubu and hateful Yorubas alway want APC to win Lagos.

The fact is that millions of Yorubas (myself inclusive) voted against APC on February 25th and we will vote against APC on Saturday, March 11th. Despite this clear fact, hateful and mostly illiterate Yorubas (many educated Yorubas too) will always make every election season about igbos because we have been defeated by igbos on our land just based on hardwork.

Like I keep saying, I blame the igbos for their love for and influx into Lagos. While you have a right to live anywhere in Nigeria as citizens of this country, you should know that Nigeria has not matured into nationhood and the claim of One Nigeria is in name only and doesn’t translate into real unity.

Having said all these, it brings me back to the theme this of this thread: igbo leaders are weak and ineffectual. How can this kind of hate be directed towards igbos at every election season in Lagos and igbo leaders will keep quiet? Why do Igbo leaders like money so much more than their own self esteem and the pride of their tribe? Every time, Yorubas in Lagos disgrace igbos in their country and threaten violence and expulsion against them and igbo leaders just look away?

Igbos too have their own blame in all these mess. They have abandoned their homeland and now take another man’s land as their own. While I don’t believe igbos constitute any threat to Yorubas and I even want Igbos to remain because they enrich our land and culture, the fact is that most Yorubas are tribalistic and hateful. The constant attacks on Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour by hateful Yorubas is being veiled as a pushback against igbo takeover of Lagos. This strategy used against gbadebo is a veiled attack against our igbo brothers in disguise. We have been bested by fellow country men who are hardworking and enterprising and now want to chase them out.

The long term solution still remains that igbos must evolve in their ways and method of operating their business by ploughing their resources back home and live in igboland. I have been to Enugu before and I stayed there for one year for a program and I enjoyed it. So I wonder why igbos always flee the place. It’s this constant migration from igbo land that has given hateful Yorubas the temerity to belittle igbos.

While some of Nnamdi Kanu’s messages were hateful, the bulk of his messages to igbos were truthful and came from a place of love. He truly cares and all he said have manifested. These constant hateful and xenophobic narratives from hateful Yorubas will soon lead to avoidable violence if igbo leaders don’t come out in defence of igbos. Their silence amid the humiliation being meted to igbos is inexcusable and just goes to show how bad igbos have had it when it comes to leadership and politics.

The ball is in igbos’ court to pick themselves up and prove to the world that they are a great tribe by eschewing every intra-tribal hate and competition to engender an igbo renaissance which will lead to the rapid repatriation of material and human resources to igbo land. The impact of that conscious movement to develop igboland will shame igbo detractors and haters and will elevate igbos to their rightful place amongst the various tribes in the Nigerian contraption.

NB: This thread has progressed very badly due to the rudeness, pride and stubbornness of some igbos who responded. I opened this thread to advocate for igbos but one spare part dealer in a 2 by 2 shop just insulted me due to the innate pride in most igbos. Maybe we liberal Yorubas should leave you alone to be dealt with. I’m disgusted already.
I'm not a Yoruba, why not go your own region instead of claiming to be wise on Yoruba/Nigeria forum.

Nigerians hates you not Yoruba alone, get the message clear.

I’m indifferent to who wins Lagos. I just don’t like the tribal turn the election has taken.

If I am to look at the behavior of some igbos, I will just look away and say they deserve all the hate they get. You can see one of them insulting me and saying they are at the top of the food chain even after I opened this thread for their sake.

If Tinubu enters, I will enjoy his government very well but my conscience who just allow me be tribal but the behavior and stubbornness of igbos is very discouraging.
Here you are sitting in judgement on a people who are completely indifferent to what you hypocritically think about them, this election have turned all lovers of competence to ibos, now, if they want to be tagged ibo or ipob by tinubu supporters on any forum, All you have to do is to post against corruption and injustice, wao!! I have never seen a group so bent on supporting criminals as tinubu supporters, even though tinubu had been declared the winner, yet his supporters are on full throttle attacking ibos and Nigerians that they tagged as igbos or ipob, what then would be their fate, if tinubu lossses, They pour all kinds of unimaginable vituperations from the deepest part of hell on ibos, makes me wonder the darkness that have conquered their soul, yet when I see responses from ibos, it's always offhandedly, showing that they are not affected by such bigoted hate, now that I know how broad-minded they ibos are, I now understand what made them vote obasanjo, a more nationalistic figure against their beloved regional ojukwu, God really did a wonderful work on their soul, how could the ibos absorb all this deep-rooted hatredness from tinubu's supporters and in return exude happiness around them, I now understand why they are able to survive in any environment they found themselves in, all over the world, I can now understand why tinubu hates one Nigeria

Yorubs and Hausa own are worst. When in Nigeria Election has Yorubs voted an Igbo man, never. When in Nigeria Election has Hausas voted an Igbo man at least averagely, never. But you people will be quick to blame the Igbos.
Is that not hypocritical?

I'm not against their exit
When they are ready, they will hold their leaders responsible and the referendum will happen.

But they abandon their leaders to as they like and focus on other people's affairs.

Ikpeazu can only be beaten by Obi as the worst governors ever, but still won an election to the senate
But they are asking Lagosians to vote out Sanwo olu, one of the best serving governors in Nigeria because they want to impose a Chinedu on the people.

If they are serious about exiting Nigeria, let them all go back to their landlocked region first, that will be a good step and message that they don't want to have anything to do with Nigeria
This line is stale, they left in 1967 , yet nothing was done.. they sat at home on Mondays, yet nothing was done..

It time we all be truthful for once. Ask their leaders to conduct a referendum for them or any other means before we can start putting up policies to curtail them

This has nothing to do with religion but rather a true understanding of heebo constant attempts to claim Yoruba land.

It's been proven that people fear what they don't understand and hate what they can't achieve. Igbos have been in lagos before the likes of Tinubu where born, you can Google the likes of Louis ojukwu and other igbo elites that have been lagos b4 your tinubu and the narrative that igbos says lagos is no man's land is a very false narrative that hateful people push just to score a point. Despite the large numbers of igbos during their businesses and paying the huge taxes that is the sole source of income for the lagos govt, you will never hear a fracas between igbos and yorubas in lagos but hausas n fulanis keep maiming and fighting yorubas in lagos n other parts of yoruba land yr in ur out without hateful idiots like you raising their hateful voice and talking about tinubu, what did he do for the igbos apart from taxing them.

You are also very trib'alisric and full of hate speech. If igbos have working seaport in the east, what are we coming here to do?
Only Lagos seaport is functional in the whole of the south. Do you know the logistics cost and risk of taking one container down to the east?

Thank you! This is the best comment (Philgafauto's too) I have read on Nairaland on this issue of tribalism. Everytime I defend the Igbo people, I get lashed and called lots of names. Just like you said, good people are in all tribes, including the Hausas🙄; likewise bad people.
