A street boy cannot be better than an academy player. An academy player is a professional footballer while a street boy is complete amateur footballer.

It's the same reason you won't visit a street doctor over a university graduate doctor with 10 years experience.

Someone who joins an academy at 10 years old will have at least 8 years experience of professional football before he/she is 20 years old compared to a street footballer who has no professional experience.

Academy players play on grass from a young age while street footballers play on concrete, sand, bumpy grass, wood e.t.c. so most street players especially in Africa have poor ball control and movement.

You are using the term academy players generically, so I am not too sure what you mean ❓

I had this confusion with someone here, his son was playing for a Sunday local team in England and he described it as a football ⚽ academy.

No be now I’m talking about na my guy.

Listen why i called for street kids (local league players)

Before a major tournament

You would have done your trials like 2 years before, round your 26man up since they have no academy (club side ) obligations you’ll drill them play them against top sides both overage Npfl sides and all.

Then 2 years later when it’s time for the tourney tell me how they’ll disappoint even if they don’t win it

Right now I could assemble a collection of TRUE U20 Nigerian origin players just in England playing in EPL Academies to playing first team in Championship and League one that would probably win the tournament.

However, there will be no room for NFF godFatherism, under the table deals, preferred interest, Egunje, etc.

Therefore it will never happen.

You know you could just drop their names here? Like a starting eleven of the best Nigerian u-20 players in English academies and lower divisions... We will follow them up from here... Who knows when one of them will "blow" sooner?

I don't think it is sustainable

If the results keep pouring in for example.
They guarantee silverware in any tourney or even a good showing i don’t see why it’s not sustainable.

Downside is that you’ll need to crop out new sets of u20 after every tourney because almost all of them would be signed out

Funny perspective. And you feel funding academies around the nation is not philanthropic.

Even if the FG sponsors academies and raise a battalion of Footballers, when it is time for tournaments, hold open screening to see if there are gems better than those produced by the academies.

If they are better, they should be given a chance to break in. It is a win win situation.

The sad truth is that these players management team, do their best to mitigate zero competition.

Because i could beat my chest and tell, that our u17 for 2019 World Cup lost 2 pickups games to random u17 picked from open trials.

Still none of those randoms made the team.

Rather they took those boys as fans with the squad over to Brazil.

That’s my Nigeria for you.

Streets beats academy anytime anyday no buts about it

Well, just like someone opined, street is like the feeder of academies. I.e we all started from the streets or mostly.

It’s from the streets, break time, closing time, and then we come home, drop bag somewhere and carry ball go play outside. From there, you’d hear about 1 boy going to training at a school field and you join one.

Mushin in Lagos state is a football community, almost every guy played football at one time in one academy of sort. Every public school is a training ground of an academy and we had a lot, FC Robo(currently have a female side in women’s league, oshoala, rashida ajibade, onome ebi all played here)Satech FC(Raheem lawal played here) Super force, divine fa(the guy that keshi invited and gave no10 played here) etc and more just in mushin alone.

Also, there are kids who have never trained before and are 20x better than some of us who train everyday. E.g my classmate in sec. school. Chuckwuma who is insanely good. Apart from break time, closing time and sundays, he don’t play any football as he gotta be at his brothers shop at ladipo market and was far better than all of us(minus me tho)

So there are real Talents out there for real, guys who have never worn a soccer boot before, I swear.

Bro in Warri and delta in general, the boys over here are insane like crazy in set of players when no send anybody papa them go beat you up full time.

Our match to Gambia just too pain me

From street to academy to professional

I have not seen from street straight to main professional team, rather to b team of the main team

You guys tend to think street means people who can’t trap ball o.

If only you could come down from your high castle and see that it’s only the rich and opportune gets to play for Nigeria at any level.

Is your football development system 1/10 of Argentina? All the clubs there have quality academy and there are rich football development systems there.

Go and read about when Bielsa took over Newell's Old boys. He scouted over a thousand players. That is one club.

Until we get to that stage, we need an alternative approach that suits the situation we find ourselves with a lot of talented players not catered for.

Don’t mind that guy it’s only in Nigeria, that an u20 player that plays for the national team is not mature enough to play for the league.

You must cross 25 first lol 😂.

Top European country as at 17-18 you’re slugging it out with the best your league has to offer

It’s our style of play.

Jam body football or load the ball upfield to the opponent’s box and hope for the best.
No technical ability Just think for ground like garri 😂

That’s why northern African teams smoked us those guys are flexible and technically gifted as fxck

Chukwueze with an assist for Villarreal in the Conference league, that's 11 assists in all competition this season.

Then the same chukwueze will get into super eagles and start forming Arjen Robben. Evidently he isnt a bad player. It is the way our team has been set up foundationally! Trace that to that dinasaur we had for 6years. Teamwork over personal skill anyday anytime!

Good evening house, i made this analytic dashboard for the nigeria premier Football league. It was tough getting data as there were little statistic information especially regarding players performance and our clubs website were not of help either. Some clubs with websites have little or no Data information about there players at all even the top ones. Some don't even own a site. Thanks to goal.com and naijafootballers social media handles, i was able to create a dataset from scratch with i was for analysis. This analysis does not include the rescheduled match between Rivers United and Enugu Rangers for matchday 8. I'm posting this first here to hear your reviews and recommendations before i proceed to make it public.
