South Africa has opened the continent's biggest man-made beach, which is purported to be seven times bigger than a football field.

The beach opened in landlocked Johannesburg and is part of the $551 million Munyaka Development, featuring 5,020 residences and 4,200 jobs.

Baldwin Properties launched the project, and it is expected that 4,200 new jobs will be created throughout the development.

The development contains around 30,000 square meters of the crystal-clear lagoon and is the largest in the southern hemisphere.

I don't know why we keep expecting the government to do things for us in Nigeria when we can do great things ourselves if only we have the will.

This is development... Nigeria can't ever carryout sug a project. Project like this are either state or local driven. With Nigeria sharing formular no one state can conceive such a project. Cos no one generates enough income to do this. All of them wants to chop from FG pocket

Also, our tourism industry isn't lucrative enough to generate returns on any such investment. A good example is Tinapa

As Corrupt as leaders of these countries are, they've the masses interest at heart too. In less than 6years, Egypt transformed slums to 21st century cities, I heard the Ivory Coast president has also followed suite, now SA has built an artificial beach in a landlocked J’burg. But what do we have here? Rulers forcing themselves on us, stealing & enriching their circle & taking the country to yesteryears. Do we blame them? Yes & No. Yes because they've so enriched themselves & weaponised poverty, then they make governance to look like rocket science. They use religion and tribalism to divide us. No because they've the willing tools at their disposal as well as their praisesingers; if it is not pooja campaigning for eleyi because eleyi tarred a road linking to his house, it is FFk swallowing his vomit for crumbs or a Joe Igbokwe throwing his people under the box just for him to be seen as different. With these current crop of leaders recycling themselves & the willing tools used in the recycling process, Nigeria have a long way to go
