My dear Lagosians, I have noted the difficulties that you have been having over the naira redesign crisis. I feel your pains.

Kindly note that commercial banks have been directed to accept the old N500 and N1,000 notes as deposits and pay them out for withdrawals.

Putting the needs of our residents above all, we successfully got a Supreme Court verdict which extends the validity of the existing Naira notes till Dec 31st, 2023.

The CBN at a Bankers Committee meeting yesterday directed Banks to resume acceptance in compliance.

I urge all businesses in Lagos to accept the old notes as it is legal tender.

Anyone rejecting these notes will be heavily sanctioned as we kick off monitoring.

If a bank refuses to accept deposits of old notes, please lodge a complaint with LASCOPA on 08124993895.

The Lagos State Government will report the bank to the CBN and immediately shut down the offending branch.

I assure you that this too shall pass as the authorities are working to ensure that the teething problems of the redesigning of our currency are resolved.

Commercial banks only take orders from CBN.

After shutting it down, who will load money in the banks ATM?

Shutting down any bank branch will only make things worse.

This dude should not allow Agbado to becloud his reasoning.

Sanwo Olu and Lagos state government should channel their grievances to Buhari and CBN.

Commercial banks take orders from CBN not supreme court or state governments.

This is the way to go. We can't be held back because of someone's personal political gain. This govt doesn't have any respect for the court of law. People are suffering, yet the yeye Emefiele insisted he has not directed banks to collect old note and he bankrolled his brother in Lagos so that he can win Lagos election.

Before now, coward Tinubu Urchins will spend all days calling Emefiele up and down. How can someone be so myopic to blame Emefiele without saying anything about his useless boss Buhari. Can't BUHARI just sack him?

Why all these wrong directive of anger towards Emefiele? It's a big Shame

You can't force the commercial bank and the people to accept old notes when Buhari and CBN has been quiet over supreme court judgement, they should rather channel there efforts to pressurised Buhari to come out grant interview just like he did 3weeks ago...

Hian. Sanwo Olu should take it easy oh. Lagos is not like other states. If these banks start rejecting the old notes, angry lagosians might decide to take the law in their own hands and start destroying banks and beating their staff and before you know it, things will get out of control.

I have never seen a country as confused as Nigeria.
Bank is dispensing old notes,take the same old notes to go and deposit in the same bank,the bank will reject it .

Supreme court have made old notes legal tender till December,take the same old note to court to go file a case,the court will reject it..

Let's watch & see how the whole mess unfolds.

Why not shut down CBN office at Marina? If you can do this, we will take you serious.

Ordinary Emefiele is calling the bluff of Supreme court and no one has the gut to enforce the judgement. Shouldn't the Mofo be behind bars now? I shame for this country.

Mr. Governor Channel ur energy and complain to Buhari and not CBN. Buhari ordered for d new policy, then banks started selling to u guys.
