CBN Says Old ₦200, ₦500, ₦1,000 Notes Remain Legal Tender by EgobiambuEmmanuel(m): 9:51pm On Mar 13, 2023
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday said old N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes remain legal tender Till December 31, 2023.

The apex bank’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin stated this in a statement on Monday.

“In compliance with the established tradition of obedience to court orders and sustenance of the Rule of Law Principle that characterized the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, and by extension, the operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as a regulator, Deposit Money Banks operating in Nigeria have been directed to comply with the Supreme Court ruling of March 3, 2023.

Accordingly, the CBN met with the Bankers’ Committee and has directed that the old N200, N500 and N1000 banknotes remain legal tender alongside the redesigned banknotes till December 31, 2023.

Consequently, all concerned are directed to conform accordingly.

The highest court of the land had on March 3 ordered that old N200, N500, and N1000 notes remain valid till December 31, 2023. This was after 16 states of the Federation instituted a suit to challenge the legality or otherwise of the introduction of the policy.

The court should have declared warrant of arrest against this Elemiwele since and make sure he is jailed for 10 years with hard labor.

The man purposely plunged the nation into needless cash scarcity coupled with the inability of the banking system architecture to handle concurrent cash transactions which resulted into irregular transfers and loss of money.

Buhari government usually always just reinvent the wheel to cause more hardship. Now the economy is deeply affected and we’ve lost lot of things to this cash nonsense.

I’m sure even Elemiewele will not be able to pinpoint to one thing we gained as a nation from this nonsense.

This APC and Buhari’s regime has rubbished court judgements in this country and the judiciary at large.

Imagine where the president has to approve court judgments or will I say give orders for the judgements to be obeyed.

Watch as people come to blame Obi and Atiku that are in no way afilliated with this government.

Yet they exalt Bulaba, that brought mad hardship to Nigerians in the form of BuBU, all because of EMI LO KAN.

Bulaba brought NEPA bill herdsman ex coup plotter and the people rejoiced, singing, praise you Bulaba, for you have brought us BUBU.

Sane minds were and still are befuddled, perplexed, disoriented, bemused, but most importantly, they were/are CORNfused at how Nigerians will chose characters like BuBU and BuLaBa.

Nigeria is a Comedy and the joke is on us.

Thunder fire them!
The whole thing bounced hard on the citizens.
The citizens suffered and endured too much for this crazy govt.
* In 2015, boarders were closed to stop importations meanwhile the production ratio for food crop was low. Eventually, it led to rise in dollars. The purpose was defeated.
Now, it's new note. There was no infrastructural development in terms of internet banking to reduce hardship of cashless economy.
It's like Buhari just make decisions without proper thinking.
Iru were wo niyen?
