The myth of the superhero. In every culture there is the persistent, pervasive myth of heroes and heroines who with superhuman powers swoops in and saves people from calamity. What is annoying about this myth is that it finds its way into real matters. Take for instance the presidential elections, people also paint their favoured candidates with the brush of this myth. Obasanjo, Buhari, Obi have all being painted with this brush. When will people learn that men have no super powers to accomplish anything and the best we can hope for is someone who tries his best. Even celebrities are painted with this brush to the point we assume they are perfect in some way. It's all so annoying.

But humans are prone to error.
Some are good in academics but poor in Political administration!
Some may be good in trade/Business but poor in Political administration!
And few may do both well!

No one is the Messiah of Nigeria.

We just pray and hope whoever is sworn in can achieve the best for the masses!

Gods and the supernatural. The damage caused is incalculable and the evidence is the manner in which people are susceptible to all manner of lies and nonsense. The people who benefit are the priesthood and the unjustly wealthy who depend on them to keep the victims pacified. The power of the priesthood comes from the myth of gods.

In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.
- Thomas Jefferson.

Waking up and thinking about what your neighbour has in his or her mind then talking about it with others on faceless social media instead of walking straight up to discuss with your neighbour life and direct.
This is the most stupid as in ridiculous thing most people does today! undecided

And that a paedophile prophet in the desert went to the moon using a horse with wings and split the moon in half.

Myths are not annoying. It's the attitude of those who take them literal these days that is annoying.

The ancients who created the myths never meant for them to be taken literally

Myths were employed by our primitive forbears either to indirectly inculcate certain cultural values in the minds of children before they become adults, or used as stopgap explanation for natural phenomenon

Origin myths, for instance, were meant to teach that the world has a beginning.

In the sciences, we have 'myths' too. Scientists would sometimes come up with some explanation, which are not fully supported by facts, to temporarily explain a certain happening pending the time it would be fully understood and a more rational explanation provided

So, the focus when it comes to mythical stories should be on the lessons behind them or what they're meant for, and not just the surface meaning alone, if not ,we miss the point and end up not being different from those who take such fictional tale as true narrative of what actually happened in the past.

Modified. The 'myths' in the two popular Abrahamic religion ,Islam and Christianity are a misinterpretation of the mythical stories in Judaism. So one cannot really take them as myths in the true sense of the word

I agree. Sometimes we confuse these stories for real life to our own detriment.

Myth is what people carry in their heads and in most cases what they carry in their heads determines their actions.
So if you're interested in myths i'm interested in the result of what people are thinking in their heads! wink
