Good.
What do you think of Toyota rav 4, naija used?

I've not driven one, personally, so my opinion on it might be flawed But it seems like a nice ride. I know a few people who have it and they praise it.
You didn't state which year model of the Rav4.

Hello nairalanders,
It’s with great pleasure that I start this thread about purchasing my first car.
Mid last year, I determined I was going to buy a car and started saving rigorously to try get one…trust me it has been a grand journey …suddenly there was no more henessy, Martel kept staring every night out but I was always like ‘baba chill,I Dey save’… I don’t earn much but I am so tired of jumping buses and Okada and most painfully paying big money to e-hailing………………

Make sure you have another savings that is equivalent to twice the cost of the car, e get why

I remember when I bought my first car. I woke up at the middle of the night to check whether it is where I parked it.

Some questions you may want to answer first:

How old are you? What do you need the car for? Do you have investment? How does your portfolio of asset look like?

From there we can properly advise you.

Just go through this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/4696641/official-car-comparison-recommendation-thread

And get Heavenlybang and Nurey to help there with choosing your first car. There are also great people on the thread though.

For me I will only recommend Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris and Honda Civic 2008 as first car.
Those guys really helped me when i got my first car for real. I was really confused about getting a Lexus, Honda or camry until they gave me almost the same honest reviews then i made my choice and since then car has been serving me without zero problem.
NL can be very helpful. Can't count helps and favor i have gotten from this platform even from NL members overseas.
God bless seun for giving us this forum.

Most of us who said it's 2013 or 2014 are all right; but we ought to know that 'manufactured' year is entirely different from 'launch' year.

In light of that, this could be a 2.5SL (mostly formica interior) or 3.5SL ( mostly leather interior)

In all, here's my take: Nissan Altima, 2013, 2.5SL, formica seat, cream interior, V4 engine.

I sha took risk wink and that's my final answer.

Days later, we went out to open fields and just started driving anyhow till I became Vin Diesel. I no go driving school and nobody personally taught me anything.

Driving is not hard, people are just afraid.

You can say this for Auto not manual. Mastering how and when to change gear in manual take time to learn. An slowpoke can easily drive auto not manual

Enough of the sad news !!!!

Here is the sweet part ..at least to me tho ‘

In my annoyance I was not willing to see another car , but close to getting to wgbwda bus stop .. I looked left and there was my car ..near , washed and staring at me …

Driver , make I u-turn at the next u-turn I said I don see my car .. we went to the car stand Abi na car advert place and met the avertage old man , in his 60’s I guess .
He had just two cars in display
We started testing and testing and trying to check faults ,lo and behold this car was register and used for 8 months in Nigeria only ..owner have japaed to uk and the man was the direct dealer

How much sir , he said 2.6 ..first view , he worth am .. leather seats , blasting gbedu, chilled ac , Formica deco Inside fresh and the wheels be like say na banana

We started negotiating and was willing to pay 2 million
Baba no gree oo
He go carry the reciept of how much he bought , called the person he bought from on WhatsApp , maintenance history was provided and all

In the long run he agreed for 2.4 last .
I wanted to wait , I felt I would see better but then this car kept telling me let’s go home zaddy ..

It’s good colour(posting pictures soon enough)
And it’s relatively tokumbo like

Ladies and Gentlemen of nairaland , me I pay 2.4 million for the motor oo and yes I had more tha 1.8million initially ..
we did paper works (reciept and transfer of ownership)
Papers were handed over to me but Access Bank no gree drop debit .. we reach a consensus that I will park it at his place with an undertaking nothing Comot from the car !!

He seemed friendly , understanding and trustworthy
The man fear God
I have sha bought the car subjected to him getting alerted

And less I forget , the car catalyst are intact ..

I know the price may wow you and you may think it’s not worth it but , I don buy motor ooo , better one (or so I think)

He is not selling with the plate number so I will be getting mine

That’s all i will be spending on for now as per the motor accessories (I think)
Congratulations bro this is a big move.
All these keke, Uber and bus shits you won't know how draining it can be until you buy your own private car.
Avoid night waka where you no know and know how you dey park around cos that car na thief magnet even with steering lock or other shits.

With 1.8 m you can get a C Class Benz (NIGERIAN USED CLEAN ONE) and it will serve you. Trust me that is one rugged car that saves fuel...buy 4 cylinder one

C180 or C240 (04) will do

Germanhunter:
First I started with daily 5k …my projection was by mid this year I could get a Benz, but omo saving money is extra HARD in Naija.
Lorokan sha (in one word), I have saved up 1.8 million so far and I THINK i will like to get a car now
Yes, it’s not much to get my dream car but I feel it’s definitely ok to get started ..I am flexible with my plan…keep upgrading my cars when I get the chance and before I know it, I may get my BENZ…it’s hard I know but I can do it and I am sure of it……
