Throwback:Indeed... Nicely put. This dude called Gbadebo is garrulous and NOT well-informed about Yoruba history, and is unfit to be a Governor for saying he would cancel the Lekki International Airport, Epe project by Lagos State. Gbadebo Vivour's enslaved paternal ancestors are definitely from hinterland regions of the current Oyo, Ogun, or Osun States and they only settled on Lagos Island after returning from Sierra Leone in the 1800s, and the Vivours are NOT indigenous to Eko (Lagos Island) which is Aworiland. Even the Aworis of Lagos and Ogun States migrated centuries ago from Ile-Ife in Osun State, and not too long ago, the Awori Obas of Lagos and Ogun States led by the Olota of Ota visited the Ooni of Ife to reconnect with the Awori ancestral roots in Ile-Ife. Ijebuland extends from Lagos State to Ogun State, and Ijebus are indigenous to both states. Ijebus also constitute the largest in the Lagos State Civil Service. I know this fact very well. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is Ijebu so is very qualified to be a Governor of Lagos State since 3 LGAs out of 20 LGAs make up Ijebuland in Lagos State. NOTE: Formerly enslaved Yoruba returnees from Cuba, Brazil, Sierra Leone, Trinidad and U.S.A. also settled in Abeokuta especially those of Egba-Yoruba origins. The Oyos, Egbas, Ijesas, Ekitis, Ijebus, Ketus and Bantes in Benin Republic, etc, constituted the bulk of Yorubas who were captured in the hinterlands and deported on slave ships in the late 1700s till the 1800s to Cuba, Brazil, USA, Trinidad, etc. Sierra Leone also took in thousands of Yorubas and other ethnicities totalling over 100,000 from (they were freed from slave ships by the British Navy patrols in the Atlantic Ocean water) Kongo, Angola, Krus, Mandingo, Efik, Fante, Nupe, Kanuri, Hausa, etc. |

XAUBulls:You know your yoruba history. It is a shame that a Yoruba-hating charlatan wants to find his way to a prime Yoruba position of authority. |

hotwax:Benin met the Yoruba natives and ruled over them as a part of the Benin Empire. As all empires eventually declined, Eko was no longer tied to its overlord but to its indigenes. |
| Re: A Man From Ijebu Is Questioning A Rhodes-vivour by juman(m): 3:10pm On Mar 16, 2023 |
He is not bonafide lagos man. His acestor was kidnapped as slave possibly from oyo or osun, etc state. He settled in lagos after returning from slavery, that does not make his lineage more lagosian than any other yoruba, yoruba man that his ancestors have been in lagos for generations as well. |

Ijebus are real owners of lagos as well. |

Throwback:Indeed... A big shame. This is a big lesson for men in multicultural marriages to expose all their children to their ethnic cultures and languages, in addition to having international exposures. Even white folks respect you if you are in tune with your culture. All the best. |

tamdun:The RED flags in this Gbadebo's attached tweets and verbal comments are simply too many and unpardonable. He even said in an interview I heard early last week that he was going to cancel the Lekki Airport construction which is on the ground and focus on the existing airport at MMA... My jaws nearly hit the floor when I heard that stupid comment. Gbadebo is not fit to be a Governor of Lagos State which he doesn't know much about! The APC Lagos initiatives with the international private sector players brought into existence this year Lekki Deep Seaport, and prior to that the Lekki Free Trade Zone, but that young dude who cannot speak fluent Yoruba and just turned 40 this month wants to cancel the Lekki Airport project located in a major part of Ijebuland in Lagos East. What is this boy smoking? Cc: Nisai |

| Re: A Man From Ijebu Is Questioning A Rhodes-vivour by XAUBulls: 11:04am On Mar 19, 2023 |
nisai:Well said Nisai. Thanks for doing the needful on the election day. Gbadebo has to tender the deep apologies in public to everyone. Then he may be forgiven for his many politically incorrect blunders. I have maternal roots from Lagos Island as well, and also Ijebu roots in my maternal line from the late 1800s, so this shows that male parents have to teach their kids their languages and family histories while remaining global citizens who can fit into any situation. Gbadebo's father failed to do his bit (for his ethnically mixed son) by giving his son some proper cultural grounding as a Yoruba man with 1800s Yoruba returnee ancestral history from Sierra Leone and Fernando Po. I can see that you are following me. I have also been following you via my older NL account for years now. All the best. |
