It is not easy. Cashless policy is good, but Nigeria is not exactly ready.

So, how have you been coping?

Buy fuel mostly with my ATM card, have one or two traders that I buy groceries from using same ATM. But then I have never lacked cash since the beginning of this cash crunch due to divine provision and the nature of my businesses.

It's not been easy, and the bank network these days has been horrible, even Opay has been misbehaving. I sent 10k from my Standard Chartered to my Opay around 1PM yesterday, up till this morning, I'm yet to see credit alert, neither a reversal. I did a transfer from my GTB to a POS merchant who uses GTB, and I thought because it's same bank, it'd be instant. The woman called me after several hours and told me she hadn't seen the money. I was shocked. Right now I don't know which bank to depend on.

The only effect of it is the decline in patronage as my clients find it difficult to access cash.

Before this year

You have always been getting 50naira charges on your account for 10k and above

Not for small money

You didn't ask people to add charges back then

It's only incoming transfers above #10,000 and not all banks charge it, yet you guys collect #100 what are you using the other #50 for?

It has not been easy, there are ones I do on transfer but the other food beverages like soup items does not accept transfer.

Could you believe yesterday, I did not come home with one naira cash. There still no different between then and now they said we should accept old notes.

It has been Transfers and POS. Only God knows when these old notes will circulate enough to go round.

I do bulk purchase through transfer. Also, I made transfer to my neighbour selling assorted items like bread, drinks, groundnut, and the rest and I pick up these little items from her and she takes note of the amount left. But for small items like pepper and tomatoes, i end up paying with cash. Firtuan, money is gradually circulating through banks and some ATM and am having some money but transportation is still the wahala in this period due to its difficulties in having transfer except brt buses.

Most Nigerians including me are just greedy bastar.ds!

We blame those in authority but every little opportunity we see we capitalize on it, all for our selfish interest.

If you are not comfortable with my business then swerve to another merchant.
My regular customers have always been receptive of the #100 charges. And guess what? I get frequent patronising from them, unlike these one-time customers whose patronage are few and far between.

I don't cook, if you don't have POS and still don't accept transfer, first thing I'd say to you is "You're not serious with your life" then walk away.


I'm never going to use POS agents ever again, they can all go to hell. And for vendors that let greed take over them, I'm never patronizing them forever. Charging N100 for N200 purchase is an act of criminality.

One thing I learned is "hausa are the most honest people without greed in Nigeria" and the 2nd thing I learned is "Nigerians are opportunist and greedy people"

All my previous customers that were adding charges, for what I don't know, I have abandoned them forever.

The Mallam around my area has been so helpful... We go give him N300 for N5,000.

But most times we try making transfer for anything that we need.. las las we go dey alright...

Look at this one, I do transactions everyday, only deposit above 9,999 receive #50 charges, dey use yourself talk nonsense.

Moreover people now use Opay, Palmpay and Kuda, yet I went to a place and the seller still charges #100 for each transfer despite Opay being completely free, I was annoyed at the seller and had to resend #100 for the food I ate.

It happens, we are bad people but we only call the government bad 👎

I don't really have much stress because I buy most of my things in bulk and pay via transfer.


Whenever I wanna buy petty things I collect cash from a nice lady that owns a provision shop in my street and transfer her the money.....That lady has really been helpful.

All i can say is Alhamdulillah (Thanks to Allah). Some of yall out here living life easily compared to others, even get to buy data (any access to Internet) to come online, Yet you still complain. Why do people always complain? Do you think life comes freely without difficulties? Instead of wasting your time complaining you should be looking into smarter ways you could help, thank your God that you're still alive and living better than others, Because both i and you know that no matter how difficult life gets, it could get much more worst.

In Abuja, almost every shop has POS machine. Even Mallam that sells onion and tomato has POS now. Almost everything, I just use my card for payment. And Opay has been helpful too.

If you have money in your bank and can't do transfer, nor pay with the card. You can actually use your opay app to debit your card and make the transfer.

NOTE: This is not an advert for Opay.

I discovered Opay is life after seeing young boys & girls(my students) using it, downloaded & started using it to transfer funds when bank app and USSD dey fall my hand.

I thought old notes are accepted why can't the banks release these notes
