If Jonathan has done this APC led by baba lie would have been the one blackmailing and discrediting everything. You forgot APC wouldn't attend the constitutional conference convoked by PDP. Their trade in arm was to discredit everything his government did, not matter how laudable. The good thing is that the same party has come to campaign for those government policies they once discredited.
Constitutional conference was a waste of money

12, 13, 14 will cause major shakes in in Nigeria.

#13 most especially. DISCOS are in for a big run for their lives. The power sector is up for a significant turn around. Lagos state is definitely going to maximise this.

I am impressed.

Good job to the lawmakers that made this happen.

Yes good bill indeed. However it would have been sweeter if its done independently. I mean if state government generate, transmit and distribute their own power will bring in competition with discos, which give people choice, promote steady supply and consequently reduce tarrif.

But in this one, states are allowed to generate but must add their power to the national grid for transmission to same discos, who are mostly after money.

Stop blaming APC for not implementing the conference. Jonathan inaugurated the referendum in March 2014 and final report on the conference was submitted in October 2014. So why didn't he implement it before May 2015?.

13. Fifth Alteration (No.17), the Bill seeks to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to allow States to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in areas covered by the national grid; and for related matters.
This for me is the most important!
With this, states will now be able to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in areas covered by the national grid or better still, grant private electricity companies with the licence to do so!
Nice one!

Three things have to be altered in the constitution for real development to actually take place in Nigeria
The first is state and LGA policing
The second is a total autonomy of the LGAs(This will be made possible if the electorates today vote in new HOA members esp in states that rejected financial autonomy of LGAs)
The third is resource control where the states will have 45% and 55% will be given to the centre for now cool

This doesn't look like what you mentioned. This looks like autonomy of whole power system given to state government. G,T and D in areas covered by the national grid.

If I am mistaken, kindly shed more light.

Under the PDP, one will think a constitutional review is not possible

You always want to apportion blames than take responsibility. Very conny, deceitful person with questionable character. Change your ways because you are still in this reality and life goes beyond just been online to deceive deceive and deceive more.

I am not blaming anyone. I am only pointing out that APC played a corrosive and retrogressive politics while playing opposition. They attacked every move the government in power did, no matter how laudable. They sold lies and propaganda to people, they discredited every fact -they say no subsidy, they promised to return exchange rate to N1/dollar, they said fuel can be sold at N145/ltr. They were simply in opposition to grab power by all means, they were too desperate. It was difficult to run a government when such opposition party was allowed to run abok, and of course Jonathan should be blamed for not curbing their excesses on time, for signing foolish freedom of information bill and allowing a party of political vampires to deceive people.
However, I am happy that APC has been caught in their own webs of lies. Let them come back and struggle to convince people on the facts they have lied to them about.
Bro on a final note, you don't need to agree with me on anything, facts are in the open for objective minds to relate to. Lie can go for one million years, it takes just one fortunate day for truth to catch up with it. The truth is already catching up with APC. Nigerians should get ready for another four to eight years of tumultuous years ahead because peace and progress cannot be built on foundation of falsehood, lies and propaganda; but unfortunately that is what APC represents.

Broda, I'm not in support of any of the parties o, they are all congregations of wicked leaders and lairs. That being said. I quoted you based on the National conference thingy which I believe Jonathan should have implemented before leaving.

If he had done that , a lot of the problems facing this country today would have been solved at least 60-70%. Because the conference covered every aspect of our life as a citizen. But No ooo
He wanted to wait another term to do that forgetting that at that time; Nigerians were already fed up of PDP. That's my point.

Oh, you are right. I just hope it is implemented that same way. Because I would love competition in the power sector same as was done in the telecoms sector then. Sorry, I watched the discussion on the bill in National Assembly during the presentation before and this issues if how to transmit and distribute came up. I didn't know it has been resolved. Good one. Thanks bro.

Good bill. It will bring about competitions in the power sector. We will have alternative to discos.

For those attacking state that voted against LG autonomies is that they should first give state power to create as much LG as they want then fund meant for the state should be distributed directly from FG until then I don't know how local council will be funded.

I support FINANCIAL AUTONOMIES to LG but must be done right.

Why should state determine how many LG to be created when the funding won't be coming from them?

With such power, a state government can decide that the state needs 100 LGs so as to abandon some of its financial responsibilities by transferring such responsibilities (Mostly finance) to the central government.
Re: Buhari Signs 16 Constitution Amendment Bills Into Law by Tunedey0001(m): 5:11am On Mar 20, 2023
If state likes let them create 10,000 LCDA
what I know is that the government needs to be moved closer to the citizen and FG should pay them all according to the state government formula.

Note: it won't change the amount FG will give them monthly it will just let FG knows total numbers to share among them using the state formula in distribution.

Instead of asking to give them powers to create multiple LGs, they can copy what Lagos did.

Lagos created LCDAs from the constitutionally recognized LGs.

The recognized LGs still get what is expected of them, the LGs can then decide how much goes to the LCDAs that emanated from them.

Now, if you're asking for autonomy for the LGs, then state governments have no say in the creation of extra LGs or even LCDAs.

Yes my stand as been about Lagos for example.

Lagos voted against it because FG will only pay to LG recognize by him and won't pay to LCDA

That's the problem that made LAGOS vote against it because he won't have say and can't force the LG chairman to pay LCDA.

Don't forget LG like alimosho has many CA under him, do you think he will distribute money to them. NO he will want to lord over them.
