Chike take me back to the history.

You obviously don’t know anything about history to connect the dots. Pick up a book and read.

It was ethnic-charged tribal slurs that caused the Rwanda genocide which is currently happening in Nigeria, though the two tribes here are both guilty.

A big low from Bayo Onanuga who should know better. Obviously, he needs to come down his high horse, delete his dark tweets and apologize for his avoidable hypocrisy.

It is important to note that this is not the first time most Igbos are voting against APC in Lagos. They had on two occasions in support of Jimmy Agbaje and on both occasions, tribal sentiment heightened but not at 2023 level.

The fact is this year, many young Igbos under Obedients who are politically naive took what happened during presidential elections as victory for non-Yoruba non-indigenes. It was interpreted as 'Lagos is no man's land' and in the process awakened the latent dangerous tribal sentiment among Yorubas. It was a very wrong move because you can't call somebody 's ancestral land, a no man's land.

However, it is disappointing how influential people around President elect showed worrying tribal colours. It created impression that Tinubu's presidency might be about settling tribal scores. If it goes that way, agitations for Biafra will increase in momentum.

Igbos have never equated Tinubu's activities under AD, ACN and now APC as Yoruba moves. It is therefore to equate Peter Obi's Labour Party moves as Igbo moves rather than a partisan move it is.

If you agree with the excerpt in bold (which is in your own words), why do you think he needs to apologise for defending his ancestral land against covetous and ungrateful usurpers?

The man can visit wherever he wants and believe hatred is bad. But he also has a right to be assertive and defend himself and his people against existential threat - which is a threat to survival. Both aren’t mutually exclusive.

He’s not the aggressor and he only responded to threats against his survival and survival of Yoruba people as a whole. Land and the survival of humanity are intertwined hence most wars are fought over lands.

Perhaps, Igbos are the ones who need to check themselves because when everyone says the same thing about you everywhere you go - it’s time you looked at the man in the mirror. The first pogroms in Nigeria happened in Jos in the 1940s, shortly after those people had contacts with Igbos. And since then, it has been the same story everywhere in the world where you find Igbos in sizeable numbers. Everyone can’t be wrong about Igbos.

Thanks for been honest. The Igbos are more guilty. For 8 years they wake up daily hoping for the death of Buhari. For 8 years they keep abusing Yorubas, just after the announcement of the presidential election we can see how happy they are after the attack in Benue just because they voted BAT. Na only them?

What Bayo Onanuga said about Rwanda vs what he said about Igbo people.

Bayo Onanuga, one of Tinubu's/APC spokesman who visited Rwanda in 2018 said "Why do we hate a person because he is not a member of our ethnic group?"

But recently in 2023, he threatened Igbo people living in Lagos to stay away from voting in Lagos despite a law that allows anyone to vote and be voted for in their place of residence irrespective of ethnicity.
That is a Yoruba man for you. Hypocrites!

Defending your ancestral land l by constitutional means is one thing. Fanning embers of negative tribal sentiments is another and that's what brought about Rwanda Genocide.

Well, that’s your translation of what he said (which you’re entitled entitled to). However, since there was no call to arms in his statement - I don’t see any correlation between what he said and Rwandan Genocide. I guess you’re not well educated on what triggered the genocide. But it’s not shocking because people like making exaggerated comparisons based on emotions.

He affirmed that he was Yoruba before he became Nigerian which shows humanity and a man living in his truth - rather than an utopia to please usurpers and beasts of no nation. Evidently, based on that statement - it’s his responsibility to protect his Yoruba identity and every inch of Yoruba land from existential threats. And that’s what he alluded to in his statement.

Nigeria is a country of different nations and the earlier you guys accept that reality and respect the territory integrity of these nations within Nigeria - the better for you.
