Peter Obi files petition against Tinubu’s victory, seeks five prayers. He filed the petition at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja, at about midnight on Tuesday.

The petition, jointly filed by Mr Obi and the Labour Party as co-petitioners, joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr Tinubu, Shettima Kashim (vice president-elect), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the respondents.

This was on front page earlier but the actual items in the petition is not included so I am bringing the summary of the petition.

1. Tinubu/Shettima not qualified to contest:
Mr Obi urged the Presidential Election Petition Court to “determine that at the time of the presidential election held on 25 February, 2023,” Messrs Tinubu and Shettima “were not qualified to contest the election. ”

2. All votes for the two should be voided:
He prayed the tribunal “to determine that all the votes recorded for” Mr Tinubu “in the election are wasted votes, owing to the non-qualification” of the president-elect and Mr Shettima.

3. They didn't score 25% in FCT:
“That it be determined that the 2nd Respondent (Mr Tinubu) having failed to score one-quarter of the votes cast at the Presidential Election in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was not entitled to be declared and returned as the winner of the presidential election held on 25 February, 2023.”

4. Order Fresh election in which Tinubu/Shettima should be barred from participating:
Mr Obi prayed the tribunal to make “an order cancelling the election and compelling the 1st respondent (INEC) to conduct a fresh election at which the 2nd Respondent (Tinubu), 3rd respondent (Shettima) and 4th respondent (APC) shall not participate.”

One thing is surprising to me.

In all his petition, he did not say the election was rigged. I guess he learnt he doesn’t have a case against the actual election itself and now he is extending his case to the candidature of Tinubu and Shettima and saying they are not qualified to contest.

His evidence will be the David Hundeyin numerous jargons of Chicago state and etc and that will be his ground of wanting the court to declare Tinubu not qualified to contest.

Lawyers just want to pack lot of things in the petition to make it more because even kindergarten lawyers know you can’t win the argument if 25% in Abuja at the court.

So if you like win the remaining 36 states, if I can win only FCT, I will continue to force INEC rerun everytime.

—Won over 10 states at presidential because Obi exploited the religious and tribal lines. Check his result, it is majorly from the South East and Christian dominated part of the middlebelt and core North.

—In the state election, he failed to win more than 1-2 states governorship and couldn’t even secure much house of assembly slot for LP candidate. The reason is because at state level, people are mostly of the same tribe and religion and you can’t use that division much. So Labor party just lule immediately.

Now they’ve been screaming that election was rigged. Now that Obi don show say election is not rigged, next think they will do is to start chanting Biafra or death. They have no patience and they won’t consolidate on the small LP success.

that's not true. Number 3 is the real deal. That alone has disqualified Tinubu.
My question is if eventually that number 3 disqualifies Tinubu, will another election be held only at FCT or there's going to be another round of elections nationwide?

Obi has played his role in Asiwaju's emergence and we are grateful for that.
Asiwaju is grateful and Obi would be paid in full. Politics is a game for the brainy ones. We played it and Obi was used by us to checkmate Ibn Dubai Atiku.

His whole campaign was centered around Christian and Igbos versus the rest of Nigerians. He played the religious card which helped him win votes in parts of Taraba, Nasarawa, Plateau and the likes. Thus made Muslims who were never interested in the election to vote for Tinubu.
