The historical Empire of Ghana is not the same as the Republic of Ghana (different geographical locations). Just as the Benin Empire is NOT the same as Republic of Benin.

So in a cooking competition where our contestant is not mass cooking for quick profit but she is taking her time and putting love and passion into it, we will always win that because like I said our jollof is inherently better than the rest

Mali, Guinea and Senegal jollof nor be here o. I have tasted all. When made by traditional women from those countries, they prepare the veg, I believe friend with it. The flavour and taste good o. All are good but very unique in their own ways.

Benin Republic named former Dahomey after Benin Kingdom/Empire. Though Dahomey is also roughly in the Bight of Benin coastally.

Akan/Asante or Ga-Adangbe would have been too divisive so they chose a more neutral historical name.

If Nigeria wanted to change its name in 1960 or 1963 upon becoming independent or republic, Arewa, Oodua, Benin, Oyo, Benue, Nri or any name attached to one region or ethnicity would have been unacceptable.

If you did any research you'll realise that present day was named the ancient Ghana Empire was approximately 500 miles (800 km) north and west of the modern state of Ghana, present day Nigeria had kingdoms as old as ancient Ghana like Ife, Benin, NRI and Kanem-Borno just to name a few.
