I saw the price tags on these phones on AliExpress and I was shocked. These are phones you can not get below N100,000 in Nigeria. So I started wondering maybe they were fake or refurbished.

I went through the customer reviews and it was very OK. Some of them even displayed the carton and everything inside it as brand new.

Guys what do you think? Those of you that have bought stuffs from AliExpress before should throw more light on this.

See pictures below; They are very many, I just decided to pick this ones.

The prices are being converted at the official CBN dollar rate, so when you use the black market rate you'll get the real price, that's how AliExpress work's.

I don't understand. You mean if I want to buy the S9 for example, they will debit more than 60K? Mind you I checked some recently released phones and the prices were normal like what you will get on jumia and other physical stores in Nigeria.

You are getting old CBN exchange rate, not even now, so if you want to order, you will be charged current black market rate, it might double the price shown there, even triple sometimes,

They don't update there system

If you want to pay it will revert to usd, when you use your bank atm they will charge you at 750 per dollar, do the math then, that's the actual cost.

The prices displayed are naira equivalent of the real cost in dollars at the official CBN rate of 460naira. At the point of payment, it is the parallel rate that will be used which is about 750 naira.

No, if you use dollar card, like domicillary card to pay it will be 498 per dollar as against 750

See the picture I attached. I took the screenshot when I placed an order. You can see the cost in USD as 112 and also the naira equivalent.

I also used Google to convert and it gave me that exact value. I believe Google should be upto date with the current exchange rate. 460 is what Google is still using. See screenshots below.

If I use 750 that is still about 84K. And we all know redmi 8 Pro costs way more than that

I think the market price here should be of a slight margin after using the black market rate and mind you,the shipping fee is yet included.

Yes that is what it will cost you to buy it from AliExpress, other vendors are selling for profit that's why it will cost more, the banks rate maybe a little bit lower or higher, Sometimes you may give them a little token at the post express.

I was also going through the website when I saw the phones and their specs, I was wowed, I was actually planning for a phone between 100-120k but now that I found this, I started thinking, will the price change before checking out.

So I put a call to someone that normally get musical equipment through aliexpress platform and he informed me that the price i see is the exact price I'm gonna pay, that they don't add additional charges.
He showed me a lot of things he bought from them.
He only said when the goods arrived, if you choose post office, they will charge like 100-500 naira only but if you choose other courier it is free.

So let me send the pictures of the phones I want to order. I also need people who have correct Intel about these phones to advise me if those specification are accurate cos the price is very cheap.

Also, will the phone work in Nigeria?
Thanks in anticipation.

Leave what all these guys are saying about prices changing, they obviously don't buy from AliExpress .

The price doesn't change. The only thing you should be worried about

1. If the phone is real. Sometimes they ship fake and products different from what you are seeing. Then you will start battling AliExpress on how to get your money back. Though most times they give you full refund

2. If the phone's network will work in Nigeria.

3. The shipping cost and how long it will take for the phone to get to you.

4. Customs problems.

Trippledots I'm sorry I am posting it here. I can't comment in that section yet. Your experience is a sad one; however, I've got positive experiences when it comes to that. Let me recommend someone to you. The current one I use in my bedroom was gotten from him. It's been 3 years now since I got it and my only complaint is the in-built DVD takes long to load (which I can't verify because I hardly use it)

His number is 0803 717 3230. I saved his contact as Zuby Electronics. He did me a solid twice and the best I can do is recommend him.
