I consider it insensitive for dog owners to force neighbours and friends to like dogs (their dogs), but the way and manner this particular dog was killed is insensitive and traumatic to the owner. Stray dogs are vulnerable. That is why they are easily kidnapped when they stray. They are as confused and scared as you are. The only problem is that the sight of them might trigger panic and/or attack. The dog here was tiny. Even I would ignore that dog and I am not such a dog lover. I ignore stray dogs many times. I am only wary of them in their domain. There was no reason to kill the dog in the presence of the owner! The man that did such can shoot a human being. 1 Like |

So sad. A walk was held in Roxie’s honor today. She was a very playful and intelligent dog, the security guy was just exhibiting a very high level of animal cruelty. He probably has never owned a dog before. I now understand what John Wick felt. 1 Like

Hypocritical nonsense. Tell me you would shoot dead one or two cows owned by Fulani herdsmen because they strolled into your Estate. You won't try that because the owners will match your werey and everyone in the estate will evaporate in seconds. |

In my Estate, a stray Dog bit a security man's young son and all the owner could say was sorry and she never even supported the poor dude in sorting the bills. The CDA intervened and laid down a law that any stray dog will be put down. If there is already a laid down rule about stray dogs, then the security man do not have question to answer. 5 Likes |

ComeToJesus: Nice People don’t get the reason behind the agitation The man killed the dog intentionally simply because he could (such a person can do worse if he has the power to not even just dogs this time around even his fellow human) I’ve seen people obsessed with hurting animals not even just dogs It starts from when you allow your kids to stone a poor hen and her chicks for no reason and you overlook because they’re just chickens Some would go as far as strangling the chicks to me that’s pure wickedness and na so psychopathic killers take start before you know it they become addicted By the way I’ve seen people who panic at the sight of dogs wella this could have been the case of phobia and since he had a gun he acted ASAP So we can’t really judge without his side of his story but no matter how scared I am of a dog I don’t think killing an innocent one is the best answer for me Countless times I’ve seen such people when I walk my dogs They’d for no reason start panicking, hurling abuse at you and your dog for no reason Seen a grown man fidget and almost crying over dog wey no even send him or faced him We were on the other side of the road entirely |

Have you been chased and beaten by a dog before? If no, then you don't have the right to tag me an evil person. All the same, you are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to mine. As for those raising eyebrows because a dog that was let loose was gunned down, I wonder what your opinions would have been if the same dog had attacked a person. K9blunt: 1 Like |

I wept when I saw the new in TV. I just imagined what it would have been like if it were to be my dog . If you've owned a dog, you will never be the same after losing one Inorder to avoid stories like this, I protect my dog the way she protects me by making sure she is on leash when we walk outside and making sure she doesn't go out without me. A few times she mistakenly went out, she went atrit to the next gate where they have dogs and I take her there to play. Most dogs don't have your time when they are outside their territory except you give them that attention or point at them. Most of them if they miss their house they are scared and confused and the best thing is for you to let them be. The thing is our people see dogs and they start verbally a be abusing them not knowing they hear. Ot some people who love dogs even try to pet a dog they've never met just because they saw it outside. Some tried to pet my dog when we both were hanging out somewhere and he almost lost his fingers. I underestimated her because she was being handled by a lady and she was just having a good time looking around with her leash attached to me not minding alot so many people that were passing close to us. But this one person was excited seing a beautiful dog and brought out his stupid hand to rub her head and age charged at him. That God I was quick to hold her back and told her to stop. That's how the story would have spread that my dog bit someone. My point is that people need to learn how to mind their business when they see dogs on the road and dog owners should also endeavour to protect their dogs from humans. Humans don't have better than dogs. My dog actually behaves more than so many humans I meet our there |

Hope it's not Co-Opreative Villas Estate Badore. Retired Generals founded the estate and they are very strict with their rules. Owners are strictly warned to secure their pets most especially wild and dangerous breeds. Some years ago when I was working there they killed popular socialite Omega's dog after it strayed. Security guards are armed and fully backed by the ex-military residents. A lot of popular socialites live there. The Idiot actor representing Surulere in Lagos House of Assembly. The popular Lady dancer who recently divorced her husband Psuare fmr drummer and popular identical twins musicians married to identical twins too all live there. Very secure peaceful and beautiful estate. I dey hustle to buy house for there. 3 Likes |

Painful as it is to loose a pet, truth of the matter, this is not UK, US or some western country where dogs will be left to roam or get lost. Nigerians have a morbid fear of dogs. The owner says the dog has no history of violence etc. Yeah, owners of dogs when you visit their houses will tell you to come inside. That their dogs don't bite. Imagine that dog roaming and then confronting a child. If you don't want your dog harmed, ensure it does not get missing! One time, our dogs escaped through the gutter at night and went to ravage a neighbour's rams he was rearing for Ramadan sales. We had to pay for 2 rams. Any UI student in the early 90s will remember when two dogs went missing and got rabid on Amina way, owned by either the elugbes or okoyens (cannot remember), how they went on rampage, stalking people and biting them. Guess their choice part of the body? The area people say igbo ladies have "yams" Ie yam legs. For the first time in my life, I saw a dog sneak behind a lady and took a chunk off her legs, held the big meat in it's mouth and ran! I saw this live show! Omo, one brave prof landed from vet department with a dane gun, a cartage gun and a sharp cutlass. Na so all of us follow the prof with his Dane gun, he loaded it by putting pullets down the barrel, took some gunpowder and poured into the side of the gun, put some stuff like dried cloth and then used some stick to press into the barrel. He the approached the boys quarters where the dogs were. We were tip toeing behind. He saw the first dog and blasted it. The dog was lifted into the air and fell dead. Omo see hailing!! He loaded the Dane gun the second time and went after the second dog that had hidden well. Na so we form line like qeue for petrol station de follow. Lol Omo next thing we heard was a growl. Prof took aim fast and fired! Hmm. All we heard was a small puff, and the gun bulched out small smoke, like an old cigar smoker you punch on the chest. In short gun no work and dog de approach. White mucus spit dripping from it's mouth with it's eyes red! Never seen such in my life. Hmm, if you see as the crowd following prof quitly did "about turn" and took off ehh? Gold medals would have been won that day. Prof (as a man of action), sha pulled through. Instantly he dropped the Dane gun and aimed the cartage double barrel gun on the dog, blew the first shot and missed the approaching dog, fired the second shot instantly, the dog flew in the air (just like in the movies) landed down dead! I was one of the brave ones that did not take off. I be loyal guy See hailing for prof! Prof now took out his sharp cutlass and in one strike each beheaded both dogs. Where prof Bleep up, he started giving lecture to the crown showing signs of rabies in the brains, head of the dogs calling cranium this, mendula that, rabies this, Lol. The owner of the dogs, also a prof had to spend loads of money treating over 20 people his rabid dogs bit. Then it was rumored they had to take like 20 shots of injections not on the arm, not the ass, but direct to the stomach! Haba! Lots of people also lost pound of flesh they could never get back. Pardon my long episode, this post brought memories of my UI days. 1 Like |

MISSCONGENIALITY:I understand you. But dogs have to be kept at all times under control. Kept on leash at all times when taken outside. This is Nigeria and people have phobias for dogs, asides the danger from my blodas from calabar that could feast on them. Flanky speaking, those days, I told a neighbor that ownd dogs, that if his dogs strayed, acted aggressive, threatened or bit my kids, I will blast them to smithereens, and if I don't have a hand granade to stuff in it's mouth, I will use my sharp cutlass to behead them in a humane and loving way. Did you read my post of how I tested my newly acquired taser on my visiting sister's lovely, loving terrier dog? That shit works! Unfortunately it flew and landed on my foot, had to visit the hospital to take dexamethasone the next day for my leg pain! The dog avoided me for 1 week. But we are paddies again. Anytime I go abroad always bring it loads of dog treats from tescos, poundland. |

meobizy: A young boy was terribly mauled some months back in Ireland by one such dog which was not leashed. The dog ran across the park to where the kids were playing and randomly attacked the boy. The boy survived but had to have over 20 plastic & reconstructive surgeries. His life has been changed forever So all these words about a breed of dogs known for sudden violence and erratic behavior is rather ridiculous. If such a dog wandered into my premises and I have children or a smaller pet in that area I'll shoot it first and ask questions later too and I love animals. 3 Likes |

The lady was already at the scene to retrieve her dog in which she notified everyone the dog was missing... But the security man did over sabi claiming he is protecting the estate by shooting a dog that was even running away from him to avoid being shot. |

everybody knows hot water burns pass cold water , in same way everybody who gets a dangerous dog as pet needs to know they are endangering the lives of all those around that pet. I say this cause a lot if not most of the people that have dangerous pets are attracted to such animals for very very shallow reasons. Getting a dangerous pet when you live among other people is a bigger responsibility than many think. And for sure mever ever let such a pet live your house un attended. In short people who are careless with dangerous , think other who live around them re joking with their safety They those this in Europe where silly people intimidate pedestrians with dangerous dogs pretending they dont know what they are doing , and then you come to Nigeria to do the same with stressed out people. I am more fund of animals than people, but people who want to own dangerous animals around other people , need to know they are playing a dangerous game. The only way to really do dangerous pet is to be stinking rich, with very big compound and high fences. That way you can have your fun and your neigbors can keep thier safety. 1 Like |

ComeToJesus: The fact that humans believe their lives alone are worth more like they own the universe is appalling They forget every living being including humans are animals and we’re all thriving together on the same earth We’re all creatures and every being has a right to life If the killing was self defense it’d be greatly understood but killing a totally innocent dog is uncalled for I repeat that man is capable of killing a fellow human if he’s sure of getting away with it |
