You can consider looking for Customer Service roles, this is probably one of the office jobs that's easier to get in the UK when you don't have much UK experience. I got 3 job offers at once in January.
Some of these roles can be fully remote which would help you work from home and be with your kids. You can search for Customer Service Advisor/Representative on Indeed. Try to apply to jobs that are hiring multiple people, you stand a better chance this way, also tailor your CV to the role.

As for your long term career, data analysis is in demand you can try get part time volunteer jobs to build your UK experience.

Also watch this video, you might find some helpful tips.

Always look at the eligibility for any apprenticeship roles, from there you can determine if it’s public funds or not. Some may require just some years of residency. It depends

Download the airbnb app and select the one you can afford in the area. Also check the reviews of the airbnb before booking.

Everywhere is OK. Just filter by proximity to your work/school because of transportation cost then select based on price.

Is it going to be easy to apply for AMEX if an individual got a card in his name. Amex card is strictly for business means. I meant the company give the individual AMEX card in the individual name

Good evening gurus, please my sis is looking for a call center job, but most if not all we have seen require some weeks of training in the office physically, which is quite difficult for her as she has a little baby she is nursing. Please are there some that one can get that is fully remote including the training? Please any recommendations?

It depends. eg. If you work (with the NHS as an example) and apply for an apprenticeship with your employer, it is not public funds as this will be paid from your employer's apprenticeship levy.
I'd advise you to get one with your employer if you're working in any capacity and your employer has in-house apprenticeships. For other apprenticeships, I'd say be careful and make your findings well so you don't erroneously use public funds.
Dharmie02:
Thank you for the insight...
Would taking apprenticeship roles not be termed as public funds for those of us still new in the country?
Please, pardon my ignorance. Ese

It depends on how fast your checks come through and the individual(s) working on your application; check that you have no outstanding checks on Trac.

Once all your checks come through on Trac, wait for minimum 1 day to 1 week and chase up with the recruiting manager/HR if you hear nothing from them. Your starting letter ought to be sent to you and the recruiting manager as soon as all your checks come through so that you can agree a start date but sometimes, you need to send HR a mail to prompt them to send you this.

Sometimes, delays are because someone is on AL and didn't handover or someone assumed that someone else has worked on it. It could also be for another reason.

For my last job change recently, my checks came back within 4 days, the one before that took 7 days last year and for the offers from the year before, checks were completed within 2, 3 and 20 weeks by 3 different Trusts. The 20-week period for one of the Trust was because the HR staff didn't quite know what they were doing and by the time they got back to me with their unconditional offer, I had gone for the one with the 3 weeks turnaround.
Tier4Dependant:
NHS people, how long did it take from getting a conditional offer to start date?

Is it okay to email or phone HR for an update?

Please gurus in the house, how much is the typical car insurance in London? The cheapest I've seen was about £700-800, but was told I can't access that since I have both UK provisional and Nigeria's international license (UK provisional trumps the Nigeria's international) and now, the prices are in the range of £1100-1300. Is this the normal price range?

Thanks

*I got the UK provisional license so I can begin the process of getting the UK full license. Seems that is not a good plan based on discussion with the insurance company agent I spoke with.

Please I want to ask, this car insurance of a thing, is it a must that one has it or is it optional?
Reason why I am asking this is that, I may want to buy a £3k car and decides if it perishes-it perish Instead of paying extra money all in the name of Insurance. We no care for insurance in this side of the climate 9-japa.
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AgentXxx(m): 8:04am On Mar 30, 2023
You can go for the third party insurance which is the least you must have in every sane environs even in our 9ja but that covers only the accidentee I.e person wey you crash with.

Third party is the minimum. Other road users need protection

That is part of the reason Nigeria, remains a fantastically corrupt shithole ........

The insurance sector of a country/economy, forms a core sector, not an optional element ......😂🤣

NB : If you drive a car without adequate insurance cover....... Expect some or a combination of this ......

- Big fine
- Prison sentence
- Points on your licence
- immigration status revocation/deportation
- Vehicle seized + collection tax imposed

Imagine been involved in a accident, resulting in the loss of a life (expect the extreme of above listed consequences).........😅

If you cannot afford to insure a car, buy a bicycle 🚲🚲🚲🚲.....🥵😜

In some other clime, insurance is essential.

In the YouKay, it's #illegal and #mandatory (PS: I concur with Lexusgs430, AgentXxx, Koonbey, Seunoj)
[Extracts gov.uk]
[1] It’s illegal to drive a vehicle on a road or in a public place without at least 3rd party insurance.
Even if the vehicle itself is insured, if you’re not correctly insured to drive it you could get penalised.

[2] You must have motor insurance to drive your vehicle on UK roads.
Third party insurance is the legal minimum
