The winging is too much. UK this, Canada that... Na only USA weh I never hear cap like that and it's looking like USA is a serious deal and would not leave one with time to come online and winge. I mean first of all, you will have to be really under the reader to actually have a stand in USA else the government will fish you out and deport you. So all man is on one one leg...

Fa!

US dey chop steady blasting. The only pinch of respite is the larger economy that presents diverse, lucrative opportunities.

A lot of these folks have mismatched expectations.

And quite frankly, I don't know who they're complaining to on NL. With the exception of a few places like the US and Switzerland that erect barriers to citizenship, most of the developed world are quite generous with their paths to citizenship.

So become a citizen and help fix these pain points you've identified. Whether by voting, advocacy, or whatever: For once in your life live up to your civic duty and stop looking for those that will do the heavy lifting to create an Eldorado for you to waltz in and enjoy. You're not European royalty. And no, don't start with the mUh hIgH tAx crap. Paying your taxes is the bare minimum for the opportunity you're given.

They'll fail to drop their useless, unhelpful, shoddy mentality of making criticism an Olympic sport with not a single workable solution to offer.

And here's why :

What are the keystones of a happy society?

Easy access to housing, easy access to free healthcare, easy access to good education, easy access to quality food.

Housing here is BRUTAL. Try to buy a house for less than 350k that isn't a piece of shit. You can't. Or you can and it's so far in the middle of nowhere that the cost of getting to and from anywhere negate any savings you've made in your purchase.

Easy access to free healthcare; ever had to go to an emergency room here? My friend's son broke his thumb a couple years ago (at 5 years old). Did we get seen? Sure. After 7.5 HOURS of waiting. The wife lost a day of work to go. Ever try to get a family doctor? I know people who've been on waiting lists for 4+ years.

Good education: up to and through high school, sure. But what does that qualify you for? Approximately nothing. You can flip burgers at McDonald's after that if you want. Want to go to Uni? Be prepared to carry debt for 5+ (often 10+) years after school

Good food? Good luck. Fruits and veggies are meh at best and cost a fortune. A head of iceberg lettuce is $6 where I am right now. Red peppers at $4.99/lb Steak? $39-49/kilo for any cut that isn't shit. Dairy sucks (Europeans that drank milk or have eaten butter here know what I'm talking about). Restaurants are prohibitively expensive for anywhere that isn't just reheating industrial garbage.

Also, Canadians aren't nice. They're polite. There's a difference. They'll say sorry if you bump into them but politeness will overshadow honesty. You ask a Canadian if they wanna hang out sometime, if they do want to, the Canadian will say"Yeah, totally, we should " and then tell people you suck once you're not around.

It's cold here. And spring takes FOREVER to be done with. And then summer is too hot. And the mosquitoes, don't even get me started...

I think that's it for now. Canada ain't the worst, but FAR from the best.

I totally agree with you 1001%
I keep telling folks this and they will never believe me until they experience all you have said first hand which of cos i Have! I am guessing you are in Manitoba probably Winnipeg, i moved to Alberta same thing! the worse part is i cant deal with the useless Indian people they are like a plaque and a virus ( all though they look out for themselves, while Africans and most especially Nigerians envy and hate themselves and want nothing to do with each other, isnt this crazy? omoh i tire abeg, fyi i lived in canada for 10yrs)
My Brother far and wide there is no place like home, most importantly any day 9ja gets it right i will move back, but until then na to persevere and make use of the bright side of canada. Honestly Africans, Nigerians forget it we are accomodating and friendly and also loving to strangers but not out here.

Come back and allow somebody else to take your place will be the cry of the ignorant. Did the OP say Canada is bad? Before commenting people should find out what overrated means .... either they don't know... or are simply illiterate. This should be a thread of enlightenment.... especially how sooo many have been touting how good Canada is to immigrants. OP probably was victim of the hype ... and got there to find out the real deal .... now he is informing who may be interested but we don't want to hear word.
Nice one OP ... scatter seed ... some will fall on fertile soil and take root ... most will fall on infertile soil....wouldn't grow.... lots of infertile soil here on NL.

You want to know the truth? There is nothing to return to! most of us have sold our homes and resigned from our jobs, so there is no choice than to forge ahead and hope that you guys will help us fix the nation so we can come back and start from the scratch again.

There is no place like home truly.. no place like Nigeria.

If not for bad governance, Nigeria's green passport would have been the most sought after in the world.

Those japa crew don't know anything... some of them don't struggle in Nigeria for basic things but travel abroad to go and struggle extra hard to live average life.. Come to Wuse II, Maitama and environs and see Oyibos living fine and happy.

Those that aren’t here will not understand what the op is saying .though better than nigeria but life is hard here and it’s not easy .on the outside looking in people think canada is the best . Everything is expensive. You are paying 1200 cad for a room with monthly wage of 3500 cad , food phone bills are still waiting . Many graduates are doing menial jobs after appending thousands of dollars to go to school. The jobs are not there. It’s hard to make it in canada .house is very expensive and people who brags online saying they bought house bla bla , most of them will not pay up mortgage till they die.

If you own a house in nigeria it’s yours , if you say you buy house here in canada then Be ready to sacrifice your whole life to pay for it.
Everything is expensive and it’s hard to make it . I always advice my fellow Nigerians to invest back home due to exchange . Our own people are not also helping matter, this is what mrs ngoni chioma in lawrence avenue sold to us for 134cad
A cad is around 610naira black market
Food that doesn’t worth upto 15k in nigeria .
