If you're below 40, sha open a LISA with at least £1. In 13 months, a couple can get free £6k from the UK Govt for their house deposit, it's the biggest awoof 1 Like |

oluwaleokey: I wouldn’t advice porting your main account as it would affect your CS so bad . Why not walk down the street , Create a bank account with any Main Street. Most Main Street banks allows creating additional current account , Just port the new current account living you main account on their service . |

ukay2: The total ISA allowance is 20k. It's cumulative of all forms of ISA held. Hence if 4k is put in a LISA, you can only put 16k in a S&S ISA 1 Like |

Last but not least! If you withdraw cash from your lifetime ISA for any reason other than your first home purchase or retirement, you’ll have to pay the 25% government withdrawal charge. That means you could get back less than you paid in. 🙄 |

ukay2: A SIPP is also a good investment vehicle. Yes, you'd have to wait but it's highly tax efficient. You get 20% tax relief initially. And if you're a higher or additional rate payer, you can claim an extra 20 or 25% respectively. For a higher rate payer, youre effectively putting £12 to get £20 which is then invested. For S&S ISA, what are you invested in - stocks, bonds, funds or a mix? 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Mosme: Don’t know much about tier 2 or other parts of UK. But in Scotland, the 5yr+ n 3yr+ are generally entitled to the free school (free hours) you talked about. For the 2yr+ to be in nursery, I think it has to be private till they turn 3. I heard from a head teacher that people who pay tax get some % back from their private nursery payment ( 2yr+). Didn’t apply or research on this as I no want story then, plus was on study visa then. You can research on that, maybe you qualify. 2 Likes |
