FT: 🇳🇿 New Zealand 0-3 Nigeria 🇳🇬

Ebi, Echegini and Oparanozie on target as Super Falcons make it two wins in two in the April break. New Zealand's search for a win continues, the 2023 World Cup co-hosts have now NOT registered a win in 11 straight matches.

More of these friendly games would boost our confidence. After falling to 7 consecutive defeats, we now boast of 3 consecutive wins and we are getting better every game.

The NFF should Continue to key into this momentum and never allow the 🔥 dim.

Anyway this FIFA nor da ever shock me, As New Zealand is even ranked 25th in the world. I mean, this is what consistent friendly games could do.

But yet on the pitch, we saw they were never better than us but yet ranked above us.

Osarenoma Igbinovia. I recall her. Was atthe same U20 WWC in 2014 alongside Oshoala. Super zee's breakout tournament to the world.

She still balls in the NWFL I believe. Possibly for one of the big gun, Bayelsa or Delta Queens or Rivers. Not sure.

Deltamani and the rest can help you out with info on her.

Meanwhile... it's kinda refreshing seeing Toni Payne being used in midfield more often now from the recent friendlies dating even to the Costa Rica game as against the role she executed at the Wafcon - LB.

Good not to waste her cerebral qualities at LB. She's needed closer to the final third and in the 2nd and 3rd phases of our attacking transitions.

Her cornerkick execution for Onome Ebi's header was also very well done.

Kudos to the Payne!!

Meanwhile I understand Barbra Banda's Zambia were bashed by South Korea today a second time.

Zambia scored 2 in the last game and even led at half time, 2-1 before losing 5-2.

But today, the Koreans were damn merciless. 5-0 drubbing mehn.

Na wa.
Abeg nor mind all this Zambians na Randy I blame wha give them mind to da feet follow Nigerians talk for woman football matter… By the way South Africa also lost to Serbia 🇷🇸(3)-(2) yesterday

My take on the match, note i did not watch the whole game:-
1) Desire still has a lot to offer, Onumonu has not been too impressive since WAFCON. That goal showed it. her hold up plays are good, and she made some really good passes in both games. Also, Desire can help with direct free kicks, something i think Plumptre has also, they both have a connon in their legs. We must look for different ways to score goals.
2) Ajibade should be dropped to the bench please, we have too much talent go through this. This is not a ball juggling contest, pass the damn ball.....She also missed those opportunities before Desire scored. Esther should replace her upfront, Desire should pushed back to the starting line up with Asisat and Esther, till Ajibade shows up again, she can use the bench.
3) Immoran and Demehin are settling in good, Alozie also had a nice game. Also happy for Onyi, she is growing.
Please what does Desire weigh/ cool cool cool cool cool, that lady she fell on could not stand up. grin grin grin grin grin grin

Halimatu Ayinde, Tony Payne, Onyi Echegini seems to be the rightful Midfield Combination working for Coach Randy but they’re still not there yet…More Work need to be done..!

RANDY need his best pairs at CB and 2 alternatives..
Imuran getting better and better by each game, Glory Ogbonna should forget it, just when we were looking for Alozie upfront she’s gradually becoming a Full Back, Anyway the ball game at the World Cup is at another level, Still need to get better!

Frontline of Ajibade, Oshoala and Esther not there yet, but look okay..

Onumonu should settle for bench please.

No way Ifeoma scored that goal that Desire scored.. Not trying to downplay her though. Honestly, SF have missed Oparanozie's presence..

Defence did absolutely well. Echegini deserves accolades for the goal. I'm still assessing cos I'm still not fully convinced. If her strength lies in run ins to the box then something needs to be done to make that a threat that even commentator go noticed. Till then. One Champagne for Gift Monday and Alozie.

We urgently need a Left crosser badlllly. Desire was the only one that gave a sweet cross all match from the left. Normally, she should be the receiver of such crosses. Right crossing is still Alozie for now. We need one midfielder to join her in that. Those bunching at the corner flag is off to me. Not needed.
Imuran is equally good with crosses. I noticed that during the world cup. I don't know why she was restricted to our half today.

As for Onome Ebi, she is another negative from today's game. Her passes,no matter how simple were erratic. She needs to buckle up and regain some sharpness. She almost gifted the NZ a goal with that short backpass to Dozie.

I wonder why Uchenna Kanu travelled all the way from US to Turkey when she’s on Concussion protocol after been subbed off during the 1st half of their last league game.. Thank goodness Randy didn’t risk playing her.. .

I noticed the way they all celebrated that Desire's goal. You could tell they were happy she's back in the team. Even Nnadozie ran from her goalpost to join in the celebration. That was the peak of it! cheesy cheesy

Omo. If we truthfully want to do that, we will need 5key players similar to the 99 set. We only have 3 currently. That 99 set get stamina, strength and flair. Let's survive that group fes.

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by mostob(m): 5:06pm On Apr 11, 2023
My takeaways from the game.
1. Alozie is beauty and brain. We should find how to get her up top more often.
2. We need a 4th CB just in case. Onome has lost some steam.
3. Tosin needs to know when to go long and when to go short. If you wan go long, make sure it is on target.
4. Imuran might just have cemented that LB spot. I particularly like how she sometimes cut into Midfield and pick a pass. Her defensive awareness was top-notch too.
5. Desire Lukaku Oparanozie is indispensable. She has a lot to offer the team both on and off the field.
6. Nnadozie is a super eagle material. At worst, she will make the 3rd choice spot. No joke.
7. I'll be fasting tomorrow. Every spirit of injury that will want to stop Asisat from walloping, destroying, bamboozling and thrashing Chelsea, make Dem die by fire. grin grin grin
8. Finally, Jale did everything she could but couldn't steal a goal for NZ. kudos to our defence. (Jake is NZ no25) grin grin grin

Sincerely. I really want to see her burst forward and release those crosses. It's in her. She needs a new alias abeg. She's earned it.

Ebi seems to pass well in some moments and then at other times just throws everyone off with chain of silly passes. Na cos Ohale no dey. Ohale should start at the mundial abeg. Ebi can't even run or outpace a runner. Now even 1/10 times is she going to win that duel.

Rita used to be one of the best midfielders in Africa at some point. I believe old age has cut up with her. She should be 35 or so by now sef. She was so good in her younger days.

You should be happy Randy is gradually getting his selection problems sorted out… Ucheibe fitting into hat Midfield of 3 is something very difficult right now, Dropping Onyi might be a No as she’s technically better and good with passes but Ucheibe brings that Defensive Energy and Strength..

Abeg I confuse😂😂😂

But this 6 Midfielders are pretty okay for us now except someone exceptional just burst in from nowhere which is unlikely to happen.. Goodbye to Rita Chikwelu, someone else should be wearing that no.10 jersey now

1. Ngozi Okobi
2. Halimatu Ayinde
3. Christy Ucheibe
4. Tony Payne
5. Onyi Echegini
6. Regina Otu

Randy would have a tough decision to make between Ayinde who has been exceptional in the last two matches and Ucheibe, another midfield engine.

The issue now is if randy sabi rotate at the right time. I don't mind Ucheibe starting imo. She's the only player that can make Ayinde comfortable and expressive in the middle. Plus her link up with defenders is the best from all midfielders in the team right now. Let's see how it pans out. Shey Plumptre go dey start now? Imuran is here to stay and that has made Payne get her desired role. That leaves CB for Plumptre to contest for. She's up for it sha.

To be since this is an Insult to Chikwelu, if you know her from U20 days you will never make this comment, She paid her dues, She’s surely one of the best to wear that no.10 for the Superfalcon playing from DM, CM/Box2Box to AM..

Age have caught up with her and need to respectfully leave the scene for the Younger ones…

Are you saying just to you?? This was probably my next statement on Imuran.

Let me make it OFFICIAL.

ROFIAT ADENIKE IMURAN IS A FAR BETTER LEFT BACK THAN GLORY OGBONNA.

There I said it... it is official.

Rofiat >>>>>>>>>>> Ogbonna
@Bolded in your post below....
Do you remember this comment above☝️I made during the last U20 WWC... 😁

Rofiat is levels above Ogbonna.

See ehn... the obvious no dey hide. Rofiat Imuran was class today and I especially love her ability to invert into midfield. A top coach will make use of that quality more often to give our middle game a fine edge when in attacking buildup transitions.
