mine is the 06 model and I get worse gas mileage. Full tank with or without Ac, I average between 170 to 200 miles. On Scotty kilmer youtube channel he said that the 2003 to 2013 v6 especially the accord model gets worse gas mileage as the car ages

Scott talks shit sometimes..

I have a 2003 Accord v6 and I still get 350 miles to a full tank on it.. It was guzzling fuel like yours until I discovered that the EVAP system was faulty..As soon as I disconnected the evap purge valve, mpg jumped to almost double.. Black soot in tailpipe disappeared..Now I get 5 miles per litre steady while driving in town.

While your car is on, open your fuel tank cover.. If there is a gush of air from there and the car goes off, you have a Faulty evap system that's feeding your car engine too much air, which causes the ECU to feed the engine excess fuel to meet up that air demand...Also hard starting just after buying fuel is a symptom of EVAP problems.. Good thing is that a simple disconnection of the EVAP purge valve solves the issue, without any consequence to performance.. In fact, the Accord felt much lighter and faster after that disconnection... These days, I use the Accord as much as I use my other car, even though that one costs thrice or four times the market value of the Accord.

Also have a mech check if your brakes are binding.. Binding brakes also significantly affect fuel consumption.

what do you mean by disconnect the evap value? Please come clean step by step. Did you replace it? If you mean disconnect how did you disconnect it? And a picture of the thing and where it's located can help. Thanks

Yes it's for me. The fuel smell you perceive could be from leaks in the engine bay. When you observe that smell, park and examine underneath of your car from front to back as well as the engine bay, the booth were the fuel pump is. Or better still ask your mechanic to check it out.

its from the engine bay. it cannot be from the boot. the smell is not hash. but just slit. if your nose is not sensitve you wont notice. i have check then engine nothing. it might be the steering pump fluid though that pour there. you know air from the hood find there way into the car when driving om speed.

yeah it could be the smell of steering pump fluid that leaks and is burnt off due to the heat from the engine bay. But fuel smell is distinct, I had fuel smell sometime back but it was from the boot where the fuel pump is located. My mech changed my fuel pump and didn't tighten the enclousure properly, which he later did. Then I only perceive this smell anytime I fill up, with little fuel dropping underneath the boot.

While just like you, I perceived a smell similar to brake fluid while driving, little did I know it was my power steering fluid leaking from the steering rack and burning off hence the smell.

The first picture below is where the EVAP Purge valve is...it is the thing connected to the red hose.. Yours might not be a red hose tho...sha get the point

The 2nd picture shows where the red hose connects to the engine.. You can either choose to block off the hose at this engine point, or like I did, remove the red hose from that valve, chook nylon inside to sufficiently block it, and then reconnect it to the valve for appearance purposes grin

My own accord has a 3.2litre Acura engine and gearbox tho. But the location of the purge valve is similar to that of the normal eod v6 engine.. In any case, the valve has a label on it, so it shouldn't be hard for you to find

After you block that place. Did you have anything like check engine light before you did it. Also did you have check engine light after you did it?

one question. Where does the air goes after blocking that line. Because it will make fuel tank to expand. I have read only that the line shouldn’t be completely black if the evap should be deleted the lining should go somewhere.

Good evening House.
Can someone please recommend a "Good quality" oil filter for my Honda Odyssey 2001?

The ones I saw yesterday(Honda brand) in the market are sold for just 1k and I know it's not original so I didn't buy.

I need to service my car ASAP!
