The issue here is that Tinubu swore on oath that he doesn't have dual citizenship. In the form he filled and submitted to INEC, he stated that he didn't have dual citizenship. So, he lied on oath. Everything about him is questionable.

If you were born in Nigeria, you can contest into any elective position even if you hold a dual citizenship but if you acquire Nigeria citizenship by Naturalisation, once you hold a dual citizenship, you cannot be voted for in any elective position. Fashola was correct.

Read this:

Citizenship by birth is ultimate and superior to any other form of citizenship and there is not limitation to it.
