The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has stated that the present administration will not be able to complete the Abuja-Kaduna section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway due to several challenges encountered in the course of rehabilitation of the road.

In a statement on Tuesday, Fashola blamed the delay for the completion of the 265km part of the road on criminality and the need to relocate some communities on the road.

He, however, said sections 2 and 3, which are 210 kilometres combined, would be completed and commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari before he leaves office in May.

On why work on the section 1 of the road which is from Abuja from Zaria was not progressing like the other two, the minister attributed the reasons to criminal activities which stalled the work for about a year in 2022, issues about right of way because of the need to relocate buildings, markets electricity installations, utilities all of which must be addressed before the contractor can do his job,” the statement said.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the highway with Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, Fashola stated that work on the first section was ongoing and required collaboration between the ministry and the Federal Capital Territory Minster and the Governors of Niger and Kaduna states whose territories are connected to the road.

He gave the assurance that the section would be completed by the next administration as soon as possible as funding which is being provided by the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority is readily available.

On his part, Gambari who expressed satisfaction with the work done said, “Both sections 2 and 3 will be completed and ready for commissioning by President Muhammadu Buhari before the end of the tenure of his administration”.

He disclosed that another legacy project of the President, the 2nd Niger bridge, will also be commissioned by the President before he leaves office.

He recalled that the bridge had been opened for road users during the last Christmas season to ease the hardship that people had suffered for years.

The COS praised the president for his outstanding and commendable commitment to infrastructural development across the country.

“We want to commend Mr. President for making the resources available so that this kind of progress can be made,” he said.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, Mr Aminu Umar Sadiq, affirmed his organisation’s commitment and readiness to provide the funding for the project.

Buhari can't complete such a major highway in Nigeria but busy borrowing money to build the Kano - Maradi - Niger Republic railway corridor. Always making excuses and passing the buck.

Has Buhari ever completed anything good that he started? He is only leaving a legacy of hyperinflation behind by increase federal workers salaries by 40% to inflict more pains on the masses.

FG: Criminal elements have been utterly destroyed.
The next day...
FG: We can not complete the road because of the high criminality in that axis

Since government work can be halted because of 'impoverished' criminal elements, I think it's safe to say that criminals control Nigeria.
Anyways, Mr. Fashola, after 8 years, did 24hours power supply turn into rocket science overnight?
Or do we need to look at that camera you miraculously found at the Lekki Toll gate to find out?

Crap.
We know the reason is insecurity, Fulani bandits and heardsmen.
But how can he admit that, when his is a member of an administration and party that claims to have curbed insecurity. That has made the country as safe as a kindergarten.
Offer this fellow $1b dollars to drive from Abuja to Kaduna alone in his car and he will reject the owo.

Fashola performed some feats in Ministry for Works and Housing to be candid but that doesn't exempt him from telling some lies and making some excuses.

Even to build common road..

Truth is that the Federal government of Nigeria has been impoverished by the fight against Boko Haram terrorism and its bandits offshoot. The government will not come out to say how much it spends on the fight. It will not say how much Tourism money Nigeria loses yearly due to insecurity brought by Boko Haram. Many peaceful countries survive by Tourism revenues alone.

Boko Haram is like fetching firewood infested by red ants for all of Nigeria by those political and religious leaders of the 12 northern sharia states that adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal justice system beginning 1999. Boko Haram is fighting for a Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system.
