Congratulations on your admission offer

The next move is to book for an appointment with the German embassy for a study visa, if you haven't done so already. Check the embassy website for the student visa checklist and that should guide you on what documents to prepare..

Good day Everyone,
Please I've got a younger brother who wants to process his visa to Germany. he just finished secondary school, I've done some research but am still confused with the following points.

* is it possible to get a travel visa to study the German language first before moving to a public university for a bachelor's degree?
* Do public universities offer bachelor courses in English
* Do I pick CAT 1 or 2 during appointment booking for bachelor's degree admission?
* Does anyone know any private university to consider for bachelor's degree in Germany.

Thank you all for your assistance.

Hello,
In regards to your question!!

For the first one, Yes, it’s actually possible but only on rare cases though. I know a friend who moved through the language course route but that was two years ago. But I don’t think it happens often anymore because you can actually learn the language here in Nigeria.

To your second question, Yes, lots of public universities actually offer bachelor’s courses in English. Try visiting the website - “MyGermanUniversity.com” and click on the three row lines at the top on the right hand side of the website and you’ll see the “Study Finder” link. Click on it and some list of schools offering bachelors and masters courses taught in English will appear. Go to the filter button and makes some changes and choose schools that you can apply directly without using Uni-assist and no tuition fess. And those schools will appear to you, also go to the school’s website and also do some research regarding their requirements.

For your third question, you’re to book an appointment for the CATEGORY B if you’re studying a course to pursue a Bachelors degree. But the waiting period to be given an appointment date is more than a year, unless you apply for a German funded scholarship while having an admission to a public or private school, then you can book for an appointment for the CATEGORY A. You can find some open scholarship at “myStipendium.de”

And for your last question just follow the same process I gave for the second question you asked. But the problem with private universities is that they pay tuition fees which are REALLY EXPENSIVE. So I’d suggest you go for public universities. But it all depends if you can afford to pay.

Glad I could help.

Hi Nairalanders,

I will be glad for your assistance with regards to when is appointment schedule for the short-term visa as I have been trying since last week and keep getting this response.

Also, is the arrangement for a "walk-in-interview" or "special appointment" for someone going for a summer training program with an invitation letter?

Thanks

Hello everyone, I have a brother that's trying to study in Germany but we are confused about the visa part.

Considering it currently takes more than a year to get a visa appointment, how are we supposed to proceed ? Should we try and get an admission first, then defer it until we are able to secure a visa? Or is it possible to apply for visa already while searching/applying to schools?

Kindly go ahead and book a date in advance. You don’t require any document to book the appointment other than your passport no.

Hi guys, I’m new on here and I’m also new to the whole masters/ visa application for Germany but I’ve been able to apply to 2 schools, still awaiting response. I still don’t understand the blocked account thing and how am I suppose to go about opening one and also I’ll be traveling to Senegal next month, should I just hold on to apply for visa there instead of waiting for 15 months here in Nigeria

Block account is like your prove of funds, you have to open account with fintiba or Dutch bank and transfer €11350 euro to it.. it's better to apply in Senegal because of fast appointment date.. in Senegal you wont wait for 15months and their VO's respect people that came for study visa

Is there a particular time the slot for scheduling appointment(s) shows up I have been trying to book as it keeps showing unavailable and try again at regular intervals?

Hi Brytcool,

Congratulations on your admission.

I'm about to apply to the University of Kiel. Course- Masters of Science in Economics.

Please I have a few questions to ask you
1. In the mandatory questions by uniassist. There is a question I came across, it says, 'is your chosen course of study available in your Home country?'

I am confused if to choose Yes or No. I'm scared If I choose Yes, I won't be offered admission reason that I can take the course here in Nigeria. Also if I choose No, they would know I lied and still not give me the admission.

Please did you come across such question. If yes, what was your answer?

2. How long did it take for uniassist to process your admission.

3. How long did you have to wait to get feedback from uniassist and the school.

4. Did you have to send hard document to uniassist via post?

5. How did you pay your handling Fees to uniassist because I have tried a dollar card and it didn't work.

Your response will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Let me answer some of the questions you threw in from the last.

You can talk with someone in Europe or Germany to be precise, the person can help you out. You can make the transfer to him or her.

I think Uniassist accepts just the PDF copy of those your certificates for evaluation .. you will upload them to the uniassist portal . Although if their is need for you to provide hard certified copies of those documents either by uniassist or by the school, you will be contacted to do such. These informations are on the uniassist portal.

The first application I sent through UNI-ASSIST took around 3 weeks to get the feedback from them. The second application took approximately 2 weeks. It all depends on the university, course of choice, and the amount of applications uniassist is handling. But for sure they will get back to you, send your application and give them time to evaluate your certificates..

Please I've been trying to upload my documents on Uni-assist but I've not been able to. I don't know if it's because I'm using my phone. I didn't travel with my PC and won't be returning till June.
