They were already towns before the creation of Nigeria. It was not for economic reasons or discovered mineral resources that brought them to existence
Lol....see flimsy excuse. Do you know how old Onitsha, Awka, Enugu, Abakaliki and other towns in Igboland are yet they look modern and less primitive?? Yorubas are yet to explain why there are many brown roof enclaves in their neighbourhood.

Story. Brown roof enclave. Una no try at all. Take a cue from SouthEast cities and do better. You can hardly see old rusted zinc in Onitsha.

Dont compare SE with SW, you people are just building houses.. Those houses there are more than 100 years and it has turned to family house.

You people with weird mentality, should they demolish the houses because the roofs have turned brown. Even Europe countries have the oldest houses and brown roofs

Can't State government mandate every house owner here to change the old roof to Aluminum coated modern zinc

Exactly. Does it mean that aluminum roofing sheet don't exist there?

Why must it be rusted?

Even the olosho house I went in ibadan the roof was leaking

The Eastern Nigeria apart from being disadvantaged by the virtue of the skewed system of the British experiment called Nigeria, was the epicentre of the Nigerian civil war, yet the cities in the Eastern Nigeria, from Abakaliki to Uyo look better than all the South Western cities.

Still yet to figure out what is wrong.

Don't compare those war-torn-like buildings in your region with the well maintained oldest houses in Europe.

The South West governments need to embark on serious urban renewal of their cities if they want to catch up with other regions in Nigeria.
You folks should take cue from the government of Kaduna.
I am not hating..but to be honest with you, it is too shameful that your cities are looking that way, from Abeakuta to Oshogbo inspite of the edge that you have over other regions, owing to the useless structure that Nigeria is running.

Tell me what south east states look like.. Osun state has the lowest rate of unemployment in Nigeria and that tells you they are not poor unlike Anambra and other SE states which about 50% of people are jobless.. Most of the old houses are occupied by refugees from other states like you

I don't know why most south west towns always looks like ancient 16 century forgotten kingdoms.

Why is this so? Just curious genuinely cheesy

Eastern Nigeria is different because all ancient buildings and monuments were bombed and leveled during the Civil War.

The buildings and roads are recent and somehow modern.

I don't give a hoot about fabricated data from Nigeria, if what is on ground says otherwise.
We know how Nigeria is run.

Now answer, the civil war took place in the Eastern Nigeria, but many years after the war the cities in the Eastern Nigeria look modern unlike yours. Can you explain?

Are you for real? So PH, Onitsha, Enugu, Calabar, Owerri, Abakaliki were all bombed to smithereens and after the war they rose to outclass the cities in the South West? There is something wrong somewhere

The joke is on you, which south east states can match Lagos, ogun or oyo interms of infrastructure .. Despite oyo and anambra being about the same population, oyo state have atleast ×4 of houses and road connections that anambra.

Infact remove lagos, oyo state still have more road connections than the entire SE... It will take SE atleast 100 years to meet SW interms infrastructure.
Every sane person who has traveled throughout the country knows SS And North Central is even far more developed than the dead zone SE, not to talk of SW.

Compare yourself with SS first, lets see

They have no answer to this unbiased question. They will tell you how SW is big and dated 1700. Every part of Yorubaland is covered with ancient brown roofs and they're not bothered about it. From Ibadan to Akure, Ijebuode, Abeokuta, Ibarakpa, Oshogbo to Ilesha, Ikirun, Ilaje, Ogbomosho, the story is the same. No sincere answer about the brown roofs.

You are the one deluding yourself since you barely travel to other regions.
Take it from me, apart from Lagos which is the melting point for every tribe in Nigeria the South West cities cannot measure up with the cities in Igbo land in terms of infrastructural development let alone the cities in the South South.
For instance Eket, Uyo, and Ikot Ekpene are infrastructurally ahead and more beautiful than all your cities in the South West.
Infact, I make bold to say that currently Akwa Ibom alone has more infrastructure than the whole of South West excluding Lagos.
