Hi there, for Nigeria, I am hoping you are coming with a group and with a guide. Before you make that journey, you want to watch tiktok videos, read ,search the internet and find out what you should expect right from the airport.
Google "International airport experience in Nigeria" and brace yourself. Your guide should be able to plan and show you some safe areas to visit.
Welcome to Nigeria

Visit Abuja when coming to Nigeria.. you'll enjoy your stay. You can visit Aso Rock Villa, take tour to places like Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Central Business District, Eagle Square where Nigerian presidents get sworn-in, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jabi Lake and many cool places like that. I would have suggested Nicon Luxury for you, but there is a Christian lodge (can't remember the name) somewhere close to CBN in Central Area which is affordable.

For Lagos, you should visit Lekki Peninsula, Ikoyi, Lagos House in Marina, Civic towers, Falomo and all those areas on the island.. you'll see third mainland bridge (longest bridge or so in West Africa) and my alma mater senate building standing tall and beautiful right there in Akoka. Infact look for tour guides or travel agencies in Nigeria to take you round.

If Nigeria ..... Lagos..... and not for the beaches (which you have in abundance) nor buildings and modernity but for the historical and spiritual reconnection to your roots. For this... the place to visit is a Badagry ... a small town in Lagos .. where you can walk the path the slaves ... your ancestors took to be shipped to destinations unknown. There is also museums there and everything that you most likely read about and only imagined.... the attenuation well .... the point of no return .... why wouldn't this be tops on the agenda of someone from Trinidad coming for the first time to the Motherland??

Lagos..... SOLD! ...Case closed.

Don't come to Nigeria; it's a zoo and an absolute shithole.

Stay off! Speaking as a citizen.

Soca and Calypso diva, go through travels and tour agencies and visit Accra, Ghana first to get familiar.

If you do visit Nigeria, go to Lagos, Calabar (hop on to Obudu Resort), Abuja, etc. Travel by air when moving interstate for speed and safety.

There is an association for foreign women who are married to Nigerian men called Naija Wives Association where you can get connected to Caribbean or Trinidad and Tobagoan women living in
Nigeria.

There is a historical ancestral connection though between the Yorubas of Nigeria, and Tobago before the 1850s due to the deportations on slave schooners from West Africa. A few of them returned to Nigeria before and just after 1900 like the family of Oladele Moseley, a pre-1960s boxer.
