This is good and highly commendable, however more can be done. I think new roads can be dualised and paved with functional (keyword) walkways. It should be standard. It is not about being in a rush to construct many roads, it is about quality and how sustainable it will be in the future. These single lane roads will still need to be reconstructed and expanded with time so why not start now?

You envious bitter ediotic outsiders, always have one reason or the other to talk down on any good project in Anambra, but you are not worried about your backward useless worthless shithole state that doesn't have such infrastructure. This is a rural road in the hinterland but because you are astonished at the beautiful road, then you switched that the road should have been dualised. Do you have such good roads in the hinterland of your state not to talk of having dualised roads in the rural area of your state. Bunch of envious bitter clowns.

As seen on top 100 Africa cities Wikipedia
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Africa_by_population

As for South East
Onitsha 47th in Africa and 7th in Nigeria
Nnewi 64th in Africa and 9th in Nigeria
Aba 67th in Africa and 11th in Nigeria
Owerri 82nd in Africa and14th in Nigeria
Umuahia 91st and Africa and 17th in Nigeria
Enugu 95th In Africa and 19th in Nigeria

Although I don't really believe those figures...
Onitsha alone is way above 1.5 million
Even the 22 world urban demographia estimated that onitsha is the 3rd most populated in Africa and 2nd In Nigeria with upto 7.9million populations

I think this 2023 census should be took serious and avoid any form of manipulations

As a Government, we are conscious with our drive in ongoing new Awka capital city. In the "People's Manifesto" we talked about the "triple A" axis of Awka-Amansea-Awa, as the new axis of prosperity. Already, the road from Ufuma-Awa-Amansea to Awka is at over 90% completion level.

Typical of our people, I am delighted to see the fast rising New Awka city joining up seamlessly with the Southern part of the state (Ufuma-Awa-Ndiukwuenu), and sprawling into the Northern part through the Amansea-Ebenebe corridor.

Today we toured the Awka Millennium City, Golf residence and the Aguaba GRA. These locations provide the perfect ambience for the evolution of decent housing with complete streets in the capital territory development area.

This is no longer a dream, the reality is upon us, and I see it clearly.

Anambra will continue to win!

I understand your point. The road under construction from Awa to Amansea is a wide road though it doesn't have a divider at the center.

I understand, i knw the road is wide enough to accommodate three vehicles
But there is different wide road and dual carriage way
Dualizing the road would have change the narrative since its a major road that connects many LGAs

I came across this news and was hoping it starts in Ernest, alot of politics has been played already, if only this can happen soon. when I was in my primary then I used to see huge Cargo ships sailing on the river, I attended St John's Anglican International primary school Fegge then, each time on Siesta break we will climb the staircase to the uppermost floor to see the beautiful panoramic views and activities on the River.

Who said Real Dreamline cargo ship's won't sail on Onitsha River port in today's modern Technology era if it had in the 70/ 80s.. cant wait to come and see it happen it my lifetime.

Guys, this is a must watch! A comprehensive drive around Obosi courtesy YangaLife https://www.youtube.com/@YangaLife Couldn't finish watching it as i had to go to bed, but the parts i watched were engaging! Would be good to hear constructive analysis of how the area looks and what the Soludo admin' can do to improve things.

A couple of things i noticed:

*Viewing this video, one can begin to appreciate why Onitsha metropolitan area is considered to be one of the most built up and populated cities in the world.

*Obosi (Awada) is the biggest mass housing project in the country, and one has to wonder just where all the money came from to mint all those highrise buildings! There's just so many of them!

* Awada is planned very well. Anyone knows under whose gov't the area was surveyed and mapped out for building to commence? I'm guessing it was done either by the colonial gov't, Dr M I Okpara or Jim Nwobodo.....i can't see any military administrator taking the time, effort and having the foresight to do it!

*The downside that's obvious is the terrible state of sanitation and the poor state of some of the roads in Awada: there's heaps of sand/sediment built up on the sides of the roads telling us they probably have't been swept ever since being constructed; there's a lot of roadside clutter (mostly from businesses) lining the streets as well as a lot of rubbish here and there; there's a lot of unsightly overhead electricity and phone cables criss-crossing all over the place; and there's a noticeable absence of greenery within Awada. Driving out into the less built-up areas and villages was a much cleaner, greener and saner experience.

*Finally, seeing this video made me realise the enormity of the task before Governor Soludo! A conservative estimate of at least $1 billion is needed just to sanitise Onitsha metropolitan alone, and this would include fixing all those inner-city roads; sanitation/greenery; reticulated water supply to all those flats; and burying those unsightly overhead cabling underground. This is why the Governor needs to think outside the box and come up with innovative ways to raise funds to finance some of these projects. Also, the job of the day-to-day running of these localities needs to be taken up by the local gov'ts as i really can't see what they're doing at the moment. I doubt all those flats are paying any kind of tenement rate to state coffers, but i'll cut them some slack seeing the state of their roads and lack of water supply!

Nnewi, One Of The Fastest Growing Cities In The World || Areas Experiencing The Most Rapid Growth

So many international organisations have listed Nnewi, a city in Anambra state, Nigeria as one of the fastest growing cities in the world, in the last three years. This came as a shock to so many, especially those who have always known Nnewi to be just for trading and manufacturing.

However, anyone that knows Nnewi very well will attest to the fact that the economy of Nnewi have significantly been diversifying from Commerce and manufacturing, as so many other sectors are now experiencing rapid growth, and receiving serious attention by investors. This has also led to a tremendous increase in the population of the city.

Some of the sectors that have been contributing to this rapid growth include;

1. Entertainment and hospitality:
Within the last four years, Nnewi has been experiencing a massive boom in the hospitality sector. So many booming lounges like Evo lounge, Panda gardens, Everfresh eatery, B. Robinson coffee house,CD 195 etc have set up in Nnewi.
Also, more than 15 hotels have opened within this period, with over 30 hotels still under construction. That's definitely a huge one for the hospitality of the city.
Also, two big entertainment centres are fast getting completed in the city of Nnewi. One of the entertainment centres, Komworld will have the biggest cinema houses in West Africa on completion. It will also have games facilities for children and adults, lounges, cafes, film production and distribution studios etc.
Very massive opportunities are about to be created for creatives and entertainers in Nnewi, Anambra, South East and beyond.
The other entertainment/media centre opening in Nnewi is owned by Authority media house, and it's said to be coming with a TV station, radio station, cinema houses, theatres and lots more.
With these, Nnewi is bracing up to become the entertainment hub of the region.

2.Health Sector :
Health is another sector that's experiencing massive growth in Nnewi at the moment. The Permanent site of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital, Nnewi is fast getting completed, to be able to contain all the facilities the temporary site could not accommodate The Chief Medical Director(CMD) said that when the permanent site is completed, it will help position Nnewi as the medical hub of South-East, Nigeria.
Also in the health sector is Premium Kidney Hospital which was opened last year for kidney related issues. The state of the art Accunalysis diagnostic centre and Accu Care Foundation Hospital were also opened in the last four years.

3.Entreprenuership :
In the last fews years, so many people have relocated from different parts of Nigeria to Nnewi and majority of them go into entrepreneurship. SMEs are springing up in every part of the city. This is one of the reasons finding a shop or an outlet in the city is very difficult, as most new shops under construction is being taken up even before it's completed.

4.Industrialization :
The industrial sector in Nnewi continues to get attention. In the last four years, Innoson has expanded his vehicle manufacturing factory, and he's currently building another very massive Vehicle manufacturing factory in Nnewi, which will become the biggest on completion.Chicason group also established a recyling plant in the city.
Also in the industrial sector is Jolly jolly noodles manufacturing company that was opened in the year 2020.

Nnewi's success and growth has always been like a miracle to many, as Nnewi is in the inner part of the state far from the two major interstate highways that passed the state and also the fact that the city has received little or no help from the government when it comes to infrastructural development.

Let's look out for Nnewi, as the city is definitely changing to become what everybody will be proud of.
