The mother was obviously in limbo. It's a hard thing for her to turn in the father killer who's her own biological son.

There is a similar case i heard of not long ago. The family lived from hand to mouth. They lost their father when the children were young. The woman had five children with a set of twins as the last before the father's unnatural demise.
The death of the father hit them so hard that they hardly had enough to eat. At a point, the mother resorted to begging with the last twins. But fortunately, one of the eldest children had financial breakthrough, took the mother out of the street, enrolled his youger brothers in school and completed the nearly collapsed house structure the father left behind. He was a god sent and with him, nobody would ever imagined what the family had gone through.
But there is a black sheep among the younger children. He refused to go to school and they enrolled him for apprenticeship at a furniture workshop. Even at that, he would attend as he pleased. The quarel of the night was between the black sheep and the golden child. The black sheepp was complaining that his brother disturbed his sleep with the generator noise. Something you all enjoyed! As a result, he hit his brother on the head with an iron chisel and he gave up immediately. The mother was the one begging people not to report to the police. The community ignored her pleas, locked up the criminal and went to call the police on him. Before the police came around, the mother found a way to set her child free. Her reason is understandable, she was not ready to cry over two children at the same time.

The black sheep never returned since then and the family is, unfortunately, back to square-one.
