This is what so many Nigerians fail to understand about why they get the quality of leadership they do. It's because of all the above that I laugh at anyone who sees Peter Obi, or anyone else who has been successful in Nigerian politics at the level of a governor or senator, as being a "clean" voice for "change" who will "sweep away" the entrenched corruption that has been part of Nigerian life at every level since the British started allowing "the natives" into the Nigerian civil service. Without strict, well-enforced limits on who can fund a party and with how much, Nigerian politics will never change, but all of Nigeria's political parties would immediately collapse if such limits were ever miraculously imposed.
