Yes but I don’t see the need for the back and forth when it’s still a pilot scheme. They only procured 2 buses for now. Further procurement of buses will be based on how this pilot scheme goes.

Read ur post I quoted again. It’s funny and sounded as if in the next two years most part of Lagos will have stable electricity supply.
I beleive we will.

This has the same potential as telecoms liberalisation

This one would require a lot og resources oh

You will have to think of your own Generation, and transmission

Then you’ll have to aggressively market it to consumers on why they should dump IKEDC and choose you.

Then you have to put checks and balances in place to prevent energy theft and damage to equipments

Omoh...This is far far different from Telecoms liberalisation

You are over complicating it. Ikedc and ekedp had to get their power from tcn. With it's load allocation, load shedding, decrepit infrastructure and system collapse every other month.

An analogy, rather than have goods delivered to you from across 100m the street, they had to be delivered 300km across a worn out trunk road that comes back to you. Because law. Now the law has changed and you can get your goods delivered from across the road.

Now they can get their power direct from egbin or from any new power station in their vicinity. I don't need to build a disco. All I need to do is build a genco company that will supply the disco.

The genco supplies the disco directly rather than through tcn and thier policies and decrepit infrastructure.

Before egbin etal would first transmit into nation grid and osogbo control would dictate power distribution

As I am seeing different stories of tcn cutting off discos I am laughing because it looks to me like the last agidi of a body that is losing a lot of its power and influence.

Which transmission line do you want to use to supply to discos?

If you generate 5MW in Festac, which transmission line would you use to send it to Epe?

The one that TCN owns, or another one?

Remember that the old Dam-TCN-IKEDC structure still exists.

Those 330kv and 132 kv lines and towers are for long distance transmission. The circuits traverse states. Within a state you can still transmit power at 33kv or 11kv from genco to disco.

I don't need to get to Epe. I only need to transmit from my genco to the nearest lkedc or ekedp distribution station. As a matter of fact in line with what you said I can build a 5mw power station in festac that would supply the festac distribution station directly. Ekedp pays me and they get power direct without any story

I do agree with you that its a lot of work but you are underestimating what the telecoms giants had to do when they came on board.

Until recently, MTN had 10 switches across the country. Apapa, Ikoyi, Ojota, Benin, Ph, Ibadan, Owerri, Kaduna, Kano, Abuja. All of these switches are interconnected by fibre. To lay one kilometer of fibre can cost you up to a million naira depending on what you have to do.

Also, every other state without a switch had to connect to the switch through radio or fibre. PH switch for instace was serving Rivers State, Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom. Just try to picture the kind of massive infrastructure I'm referring to here.

It was a lot of work and cost a lot of money but it was achieved. If the telecoms operators can do it, I believe it can be replicated in the power sector.

And the good thing is, once one investor builds it, other generating companies will leverage on the infrastructure.

If Mainone for example have a service they want to deliver between PH and Lagos, they don't have to start laying their own fibre. All they have to do is pay MTN or any other major player to create a leased line for them and it's done.

Subsequent investors only have to bother about generation. They will leverage on existing transmission lines built by the first set of investors.

It is POsibble cheesy

I want to believe that any serious investor will have to build it's own transmission lines. They can use existing lines like MTN initially did with NITEL but eventually they had to build theirs.

Lolz.

See as u dey talk am . U are not talking the economics/finance of this thing .MTN built those infrastructures over 22 years to get to where they are today . 22 4cking years of which they operate as a private company that was profit oriented with no incentive to do any charity giveaway aside from budgeted CSR.

Lagos state government has been building how many kilometers of road and railway on Lagos-Badagry expressway for over 10 years now. One of the reasons it’s not been completed is the paucity of funds.

Where Lagos state government wan see funds to deploy that level of infrastructure that will be needed to transmit electricity to most parts of the states let’s say within 5 years ?

You don't need to transmit electricity to the users. You have the discos for that. You just need to transmit power to the discos, who already have a network.

Also we are talking 33kv or 11kv which is much much cheaper than 330kv. 33kv works with concrete poles. 330kv requires steel towers.

Also 330kv requires much more equipment and protection.

in the grand scheme of things 33kv and 11kv overhead lines are not a high cost.
the switchgear at each end of the line, maybe - but the line itself.

aluminum overhead conductor, concrete pole, porcelain isolators - HT [33kv, 11kv ] is a cheap way of distributing/transmitting electricity

I think as a man deep down you know a woman that you only got cos of your pockets. You know

The problem with many men who have tried to buy loyalty and failed is that the damage to your pockets and reputation can be unquantifiable especially when you're just rich and not powerful enough to make your problems go away.

Go and ask those men paying Alimony through their nose if they wished they didn't try to buy loyalty with money
