Protesters Storm CBN Headquarters, Demand Emefiele’s Arrest, Resignation by EBMedia: 3:39pm On May 03, 2023
Some Nigerians stormed the headquarters of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) today to demand the resignation and arrest of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele over the failed new naira notes policy, IGBERETV reports.

The protesters wielding placards were sighted at the premises of the apex bank, who noted that Emefiele had inflicted undue hardship on Nigerians which had led to the death of many people.

The group under the auspices of George Uboh Whistle-blower Network vowed to occupy the apex bank until their demands were met.

Some of the inscriptions on their placards read; “Emefiele Must Go”; “CBN Now Bureau De Change”; “Emefiele Bring Out The Names of Those You Gave Our Money To”; “Where Is The 500 Billion You Cried on Tape Is Missing?”; “What Happened To Anchor Borrowers Programme and many others?”

Addressing journalists, the Convener of the protest, George Uboh said Emefiele had committed genocide for subjecting Nigerians to pains and hardship for mopping up old naira notes and forcing people to queue endlessly at various banks in order to get cash.

He said, "We are demanding that Godwin Emefiele in his capacity as the Governor of CBN should make available the new naira notes. He must also come out here to address the people because the Supreme Court in its ruling pronounced that the new naira notes policy has caused the Nigerian masses undue hardship."

He said the action of the CBN on the monetary policy was tantamount to genocide adding that it was not only guns that could be used to commit genocide.

He said their protest was hinged on the Supreme Court judgment which directed the CBN to release the new naira notes just as he described the policy as “insensitive” under the watch of Emefiele.

Uboh said they had perfected plan to call for his arrest and prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for committing crimes against humanity.

He said having two legal tender at the same in a country is a treasonable just as he lamented how the policy had crippled small businesses in the country.

The security agents including Police, Nigeria Army and Operatives of Department of State Services (DSS) have surrounded the building to prevent any possible breakdown of law and order.

Politically influenced violence. People are busy shouting President-elect where it is evidently clear that Yakubu has sold Nigeria to Tinubu, they are not protesting. What APC whose national leader Tinubu, the current purported President-elect, has done to Nigeria will take decades to repair. Yet he bought his way into President-elect. No one is protesting for that. And they are deceiving us with paid protesters. You can only deceive some people sometimes but you can never deceive all the people all the times.

Hmm..

Internet will never forget!

It’s Glory be to God for putting enemies of Nigerians to shame! All because of elections, they didn’t care what the masses were going through. They supported the pains & agony! Indeed, Jah is never with hypocrites..

How do you protest against someone that Igbo people told us had died in London?

Did you not see the condolence message from the Queen of England that Igbos were posting all over the Internet?

Emefele will rather go exile than to wait for arrest. But if he think he will lobby people in tinubu cabinet. Emefele will be bygone. Only if tinubu doesn't have interest in him. Tinubu know how to use power than Buhari.

Emefiele became hedonistic. He has been used by Buhari and the cabal. He should get ready for what the incoming cabal will do to him.

The only CBN governor in recent history who served 2 tenures and it was a tenure of extenuating pains and misery

Tinubu will deal with this guy and he wont remember his name. He was a great instrument in the hands of the politicians especially Aso rock cabal. How could someone be this confused, probably he has no adviser of macro economics.

Emefiele needs to answer for his reckless policy. Not just the Naira redesign but also his destabilization of the forex market by creating 2 different exchange rates!

People actually lost their lives and their means of livelihood because of his ego, not to mention the nationwide strain he put on individuals and businesses.
