This is not justice but witch hunting.

How can you sentence a man that wrote to your embassy about his intention to take someone to UK for the purpose of organ donation.
The donor is not a minor.
What nonsense law do they practice in the uk

The issue is not about writing the embassy about his intentions. The issue is having the intentions to pay for the donation in cash or kind, and even when the donor changed his mind regarding the agreement, he started getting threatened.
Just so you know, paying for human organ/tissue is an international crime as it is used to deter killing of especially the less privileged for organ harvesting.

Good for him! Most Nigerian Politicians are criminal materials and should be behind bars including the Aso rock zombie who was a coup plotter.

Less than a year from arrest to sentencing. Bravo UK.

A locus classicus on Modern Slavery in UK.

At this point we cannot deny that the plethora of leniency pleas sent by prominent African individuals and organisations, in the form of letters posted to representatives of the British Government, influenced the court in tempering justice with mercy.

It's a fair conviction and sentence, especially, due to the fact that the case is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom brought under the Modern Slavery Act of 2015.

They'll become better Earth citizens when they complete their jail terms.

I hope that my pretty Sonia gets a legal donor and completes the transplant successfully before her parents are released.

I also wish the brave victim well and hope that he goes through a soothing integration into European culture and society. He is the Hero of the story.
The letters had no effect.
In fact, Ekeweremadu's lawyer is one of the worst attorney anybody can get.
Imagine getting your client who had no direct communication with the alleged victim
until he got to the UK convicted of slavery.

Even madams who actively traffic women don't easily get convicted.

All our wicked politicians are supposed to learn from this but, they still won't

The same transplant which they could have done successfully here in nigeria at far less and nobody would have heard or known about it. Since they must do it in the uk cos they've destroyed our health institutions, the same UK is now doing them the strong thing. Sit in your home and make things work, they'd not listen. More of this will befall them, no be curse.

I only feel pity for the man. Is there a way he can appeal to this? Cos I thought he followed due process and informed relevant authories about the transplant.

And to others clapping and celebrating this news, y'all are myopic and cannot see beyond your noses. This is a big slap on the Nigerian leadership.

Despite all the begging and institutional intercessions, the British really do not give a fnck about Nigeria and their elitism. A lesson for us to look inwards and spend our money within our space so that we can build a modern society. for vacation, we have Tinapa and beautiful places in Taraba State to go and spend our money there so that these places can develop their tourism capacity and blown it to full potential.

I can't imagine the British looking so helplessly to allow a Nigerian court to convict their lords or a parliamentarian without intervening diplomatically. it will never happen. they have just used style to tell us we are bigger than you. nothing more. it is what it is .

Congratulations David, the deprived citizen that was about to be used to replenish the life of a corrupt politician's daughter. It is well with you
As for the daughter, i pray she finds a donor soon.

Some people refused to go to school. Can't imagine how tou reason like these. Organ donation for financial gain is a crime in UK. He is lucky had it been they charged him and his wife for slavery, That's Life imprisonment .

He will be back when the next president has finished his two terms. By then, he might contest for the presidential seat since criminality is justified in Nigeria.

I urge Ike Ekwerenmadu to Appeal his conviction.

This is not in any way justice. We have documents proof that the senator write the UK Embassy officially notifying them about the kidney transparent.

This is mere witch hunting and I condemn it, I condemn it. I condemn it and I call on all Nigerians to rise up to their voices to demand for a fair justice.

The FG must as a matter of urgency sanction the British govt.

The British embassy should be shutdown immediately.
.all British companies or businesses in Nigeria should be shutdown immediately.

This is unacceptable and we condemn it, we condemn it, we condemn it.
