Omo, where law works. Look at the short time it even took to deliver judgment. Bring it down to Nigeria and compare it. First, for being a high profiled individual, he would have been released since.

This is not justice but witch hunting.

How can you sentence a man that wrote to your embassy about his intention to take someone to UK for the purpose of organ donation.
The donor is not a minor.
What nonsense law do they practice in the uk

The boy was the problem, not the court.

In medicine and law(medical jurisprudence), once a consent for a procedure is withdrawn by the patient, the procedure, no matter how well intentioned, becomes illegal/criminal.

The stupid boy cunningly denied any knowledge of the proposed donation immediately he was told he didn't match and would be sent back to Nigeria.

Fortunately for him in the UK, he can't be threatened or manhandled to vomit the truth, as would have been the case in Nigeria.

Offences under the Modern Slavery Act attract consequences of life imprisonment.

and so?

how did the "the plethora of leniency pleas sent by prominent African individuals and organisations, in the form of letters posted to representatives of the British Government, influence the court in tempering justice with mercy"?

what is the mercy that was tampered in this case?

what was the thrust of those pleas?

who were the pelas addressed to? was it the executive, the legislator or the judiciary?

Going by the court sentencing I watched. There can be no successful appeal of the judgement cos it was comprehensive and all legal angles to the case was thoroughly thrashed.

This is grossly unfair

At least nobody’s organ was actually harvested

And he wrote to British Embassy and duly informed them of the purpose of his visit and they never advised him. Not like he sneaked into the UK to carry out the procedure

Nigeria should cut diplomatic ties with UK until this rubbish is reversed
Head dey pain you

So unfortunate. I hope his colleagues learn from this. He is a good father so I actually pity him. I do not beleive that guy was truly ignorant of the reason why he was taken to the UK as he claimed.

Perhaps this is Karma at work. Equip our own hospitals with world class equipments. Our doctors are among the very best in the world.

I hope the daughter gets a legal donor and wish her full recovery. May she live long and well to tell her own grandchildren about the great sacrifice of her parents. Ameen

In my opinion this is very embarrassing and a shame to Nigeria. It’s unacceptable and should be paid back in same kind. This action humiliates us as a people and shows the arrogance of the British people in their treatment of Africans. For god sake , Ekweremadu was a former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria and as such should have been accorded diplomatic treatment.

Even if na former president..... and so what??

Lifestyle of jungle and lawlessness don master una

what of tinubu who was arrested with heroin in the US. What should we now do to him

Arrested with heroin?

Where is the charge sheet? Any American citizen can obtain the charge sheet under FoI. Don't tell me the PDP and LP don't have a single US citizen in their ranks.

Strange we have not seen any charge sheet. Do rats and snakes eat documents in the US too?
