I pity those ones the most but what will even make anyone to accept such offer is what I don't know.

only an ignorant domestic staff would be over worked without bonuses, every domestic staff has rights and should list those rights in agreement before starting a job,if your job is the gate the gate is your job if your job is cleaning and cooking,then thats your job, domestic staff should set the boundaries and bonuses to be paid for extra job.if the owner does not settle with the agreement you can go dont be enslaved,you could sustain serious injuries doing extra job in a house and still get no bonus for it,total bs,let home owner , higher their security, gardener and house help separately, except if an individual accept to do all those jobs.when i started my job in 2012 in Lagos,i was direct at my boss,i made it clear that i wont have anything to do with something out of my job description if he wasn't alright with it i would take my leave,he accepted my terms with no hesitation, until the time i left i have never done an side job for my boss even though he gave me accommodation,only people with low self-esteem get trampled upon.

A lot of Nigerians are terrible employers and employees.

Then when the disgruntled employee does something silly, they’d be wringing their hands and shouting to all and sundry that a wicked employee has done them in not knowing their meanness played a big part in instigating what happened!

I recently got a job n on resumption I realized I was meant to clean the offices n even wash the toilet, for a salary of 50k o. To think that I was the HR manager where I was coming from.
I never went back after the first day

We are naturally users...I don't know how you will be making money and still not pay a liveable wage. No free lunch but those working for you should pray and bless you not curse you...and you wonder why the children are messed up. You can't raise children in the midst of evil deeds and expect righteousness.

My thoughts for the last 2 months . And you will expect them to perform well at all the jobs listed.

Chef should be different from Nanny, Housekeeper, PA so that he or she can deliver the best of food for you and your family.

And it’s not just about the money! The way they talk down to their employees or house-helps….and in some cases beat them if the victim is a child, is disgusting!

A lot of Nigerians are guilty of this 99% of employers.

i was once a house manager of a newly established guest house. They asked me to employ one lady/woman as cleaner and another as a cook
so na me go be receptionist, barman, I will still look after the viewing center in the guest house. All for 20k
And the owner was like "the more money you make, the more you get salary increment"

I see nothing wrong to send your Gateman on small errands. But make sure you give him tips whenever you send them outside their normal duties.

When I say tips, it should be a very good one.


I send my gateman on errands a lot, and he enjoys it.

He even use to ask me, "Oga you get anything I go fit help you do?"

Most people that do all those kind of jobs do it for accommodation. Most of the guys come straight from their village with the support of their friends who gives them greenlight to come.

we thats in regards to low self-esteem.i have slept outside for 14 days when i got to Lagos before i got my job yet i stood my ground.

Go to the UK or any sane country and pay your gatemen 35K and see if you will not be arrested and charged to court by the government for using slave labour!

Here in KSA, a domestic worker is paid about 1000sars which is about 200k in naira..

You never see banker wey dey buy petrol for gen ? 😆😆
