Guys,

Please I need your perspective.
So my friend came in last year November as Dependent spouse .
Now having issues with his wife.
Like, the wife wants a divorce. He said she's taking step.
He's worried if he'll be sent back to Nigeria.
Honestly, I don't know too. Cos I'm new as well.
Please respond

Hello

On the shortage list

2129 Engineering professionals not elsewhere classified – all jobs

That should fit in nicely but confirm from your HR if this depicts your job

Cheers

AgentXxx:
Good morning Elders!!! Can anyone guide me to the steps in applying for work visa? I have visited gov.uk but I just wanted a practical view from someone who has gone through it preferably recently. What are things I need to demand from my workplace to ease the application? Am trying to get it done before month end. Thanks and God bless

Is an Technical Support Engineer classified under shortage list? As am unable to find the exact wording for that in the list I got on gov.uk.

OMO...

Like some people used to say, UK has happened to him.

My advice is for him to lay low, beg the Wife while he's searching for COS 😞... GOD be with him.

He should be more worried about losing his wife/family assuming he still wants to be married.

Can't these issues be resolved? - counselling if needed. With a bit of effort many women can be wooed/won back, if the issues are not abuse related (physical, verbal, emotional, financial, sexual etc )

Went to the polling station at 9pm. It was seemless, swift and soothing.

It's interesting that the polls were opened from 7am to 10pm, accommodating majority's schedule.

Nigeria sure has a lot to learn from this system.

Lol I was shocked at how long it took for the results of the Nigerian GE to be finalised. It took like a week? shocked Usually we know the winner of the UK elections from the exit polls as soon as voting finishes at 10pm! 😂

You are comparing 🍎 Apples with 🫘 Beans.
Nigeria has a Presidential System. The UK has Parliamentry….that is just one of many differences.

Good day guys,
My visa just got approved some days back and I’d love to get tips on getting a house in north west England and the possibility of getting one from Nigeria.

Where in the Northwest? You can't secure apartment from naija unless you get someone here that can help you run it. Just dey prepare money for Airbnb and once you land let the aggressive searching for house begins

His visa will be revoked and he will be given about 2 months to switch to another visa or leave the UK.
He's at risk of incarceration and deportation.

Why would she bring him to the UK only to bully and then divorce him? 🫤
Surely she would have made him suffer more by just leaving him in Naij? (While updating her whatsapp status daily with pics of the good life in the UK 😂)

If he longer wants to be married to his sponsor, his visa will be curtailed and he would need to find a new sponsor before he runs out of status and is either deported, or has to go underground and live in fear of deportation.

You should advise him that it's much easier and cheaper to support his wife and stay married.

I only responded to a part of what Zahra posted. If you noticed, I quoted the part I was referencing.

I take exception to your "na where we dey always see una be dat" you should know better than to generalise.......and yes I am calm, it is you that needs to take a chill pill.

That is common especially when husband is the dependant and refuses to take certain jobs just to help with bills or wife's tuition fees.

Like others have said..he needs to find a way to switch to student visa or other type of visas else.....

Thanks o. I'm pretty sure the word 'exploitation' would have come up if it was the other way around. I'm getting more than a whiff of blackmail but maybe I'm just overly cynical sha.

Anyway, all of that is irrelevant. OP - The visa will be curtailed. Your friend's best bet is to work to find a job that'll sponsor his visa. He's in the UK so he has that advantage, all things being equal. There's also the student visa option.

He should look to care work or NHS. Those are the ones I have heard of that give visa sponsorship more 'freely'. He has to move fast though, because I'd imagine that there'd be an update to his visa status 'right to work' page which might deter employers.

He might also consider trying to convince the wife so they still divorce but give it some time before initiating the process. Maybe they might even fix things during that period but he'd be working like hell to get his own visa ASAP regardless.

Best of luck to him.

Not at all, just to try harder and be more motivated to save his marriage. You know marriage isn't always easy and sometimes we need something else to push us to keep going those hours/days/weeks lol when love seems to have gone awol
Maybe the fear of deportation will help him find the motivation he needs 😉😂
