I think the educated Hausa have started reading how their problem started.

Whether we like it or not,Hausa and igbos are the most suppressed in this nation...the only difference is that, that the igbos are very vocallly vociferous and ambitious while the Hausa people are less vocal and hidden like chicks under the mother hen with chains of religious incarceration.

In other words, Danfodio the jihadist felt they practiced moderate Islam which he was against. So he overthrew the traditional Hausa kingdoms and installed his Fulani-influenced Islamic Emirates that have held the north for centuries now.

The average northern Emir doubles as the spiritual leader of the emirate, so the common man cannot protest or register his displeasure for any issue without it being considered as a challenge against his religious leaders, and therefore Islam.

This is even more evident when you consider places like Okene in Kogi State that received Islam even before the north. They don't practice such extremist form of Islam.
